Vitos has been around for years. The business was once owned by the namesake Vito, who passed it onto his twin daughters. This is a traditional Cuban bakery with many kinds of Cuban pastries. Saturday mornings at 11am they make great pork sandwiches these sell out quickly as Saturday is the only day they make the pork sandwiches. Vito's has one table inside and a couple small tables. Most of people come here are locals or workers at the airport or county jail. Make sure you get a number when you come in the door as it can feel quickly in the morning. The place needs some love, it's a little run down. The assortment is not large but what they make is very good.

You're hungry. You look around the kitchen and see some thinly-sliced ham. You know that it's not quite as good as the holiday ham people eat when they get tired of turkey, but it's decent ham, and you know how you love ham. And then you remember that queso blanco in the fridge, which, taken on its own, should never be taken on its own, but which, when laid in with that ham, makes for a nice bite. "Nope," you think; "eating those things that way, just jamming them together, gnawing at a cold roll-up of ham and cheese, would be lazy and gluttonous, and I'm a goddamn grownup." You keep thinking. Suddenly, you remember that you're also a baker, with as much pastry dough to work with as you like, and you're aware that it being your bakery, you can do whatever you like with your dough. What's more, it's really good dough that will bake up into whatever shape you tell it to, so you make a ham and cheese and pastry dough sandwich, seal the edges, toss that sucker into the oven, and bake it till you can smell the pastry turning buttery, brown and barely sweet. Your stomach screams to be fed. You're strained near tears by anticipation. At last, you pull the finished pastry from the oven, snap through its crisp and flaky skin, and eat until your grievous hunger's relieved. If you're looking for frills, flamboyance, and gimmicky attempts at "Latin-ness" for tourist dollars, go to Española Way. If instead you want delicious and authentic Cuban treats, the quintessential laidback atmosphere to enjoy your cortadito, and the experience of a local gem -- go to Vito's. I might be biased; I'm as addicted to cafecito and Cuban bread as it gets, but I've yet to find a bakery with better Cuban bread in all my years as a Miami native. There is no other Cuban bakery that I will get my pastelitos de guayaba from when introducing my underprivileged non-Hispanic friends to this delicacy. So many of our businesses in Miami offer showboating and tourist-pandering in the place of quality and longevity. So if you're going to whine about the lack of Instagram-able Cuban cliches to post, please enjoy the $2.00 tourist cafecitos elsewhere so I can enjoy my $0.50 local favorites in peace. read more

I noticed not a huge selection of items but a few different pastries and cookies for sale. I ordered the guava and apple pastries and it only came to $1.60. This is a hidden gem! I was in Miami with friends and our hotel was in this area, close to the airport, and this Cuban bakery was recommended by our local Lyft driver. We were thankful we took his advice because this is a great place. The staff is very friendly, patient, and helpful and it is spacious enough to feel comfortable in. There is a wide array of sweets and savory; I tried a few of both and I was shocked to see how cheap everything is and I was able to get a full meal's worth for cheap. We ended up walking here every morning for a quick bite before heading into the city and we will definitely be coming back here!! read more

My wife and I have been going here for a long time. They make some of the best Cuban pastries in the area. But my last two experiences here have been really bad. I'll focus on this one. I was the second customer at the counter. It took over 8 minutes and the involvement of both attendants for the person in front of me just to pay. Then one attendant went to talk with a customer sitting be the door, while the other began sweeping. I had to make my presence known, and then there seemed to be some debate as to whom would assist me. I'm pretty sure it's because they assumed I didn't speak Spanish... which I don't, but I can certainly order a tostada, cortadito , and pastellitos. Strangely as I did order just that the attendant had to check with the other one and repeat my order in English... so I confirmed it in English. Very odd. Then the next customer walked up. They both cheerfully greeted him and both immediately took to getting his order. My tostada was put on the press and left there. It took the better part of 10 more minutes for the order from the person after me to be completed. I stood in amazement that I had basically ceased to exist. Then the other attendant started to make coffee for another customer, and coffee grounds shot out of the machine all over her. It turns out that they had knocked the metal filter into the trash previously, and there was no filter on the machine. It took over five minutes for this mess to be resolved, then my attendant poured the two cortaditos I ordered with what turned out to be cold ground-filled coffee which I didn't discover until I got all the way home. In the mean time the tostada has also gone entirely cold. As for the pastries, the croquetas were fine, but it turned out that only the top half of the carne pastellito was in my bag. The bottom half along with most of the meet was simply not there. So, in the end got home with two cups of coffee grounds (undrinkable), a completely cold tostada (normally by the time I get home it's still too hot to eat), the croquetas, and half of a meet pastry. It took me 30 minutes. A ridiculous waste of my time and money, and I honestly felt discriminated against by the way I was ignored and the total lack of care or attention paid to my order when so much effort was put into the orders of people who arrived after I did while I patiently waited. I'm thinking I'll not return. read more

Ok, I'm giving 5 stars but you have realize I'm very biased when it comes to Miami Springs and it's restaurants/businesses. That being said of my 36 years on this earth I've probably been coming to Vito's for 36 years. I went to the school next door and my mom would take us there for snacks after school. My father would love to come here and talk Cuban politics with the Cubans. Now as an adult this isn't the best Cuban bakery in town, it's probably a 3 star bakery. What Vito's appeal is that whatever time of day you go there, you'll feel welcome by the staff and the other patrons. Vito's Bakery has been a staple in the Miami Springs/Virginia Gardens/36 St/Airport area for a very very long time! The "natural freshly squeezed" orange juice was flat and salty. Apparently they squeeze them out before opening and leave them in the fridge. Not a real Cuban Bakery at all. read more

Guess some of the bad reviewers just don't get it? This is not Starbucks, Dunkin or Aroma Joe's coffee. If you're looking for fancy keep walking. This is a place that locals hang out, and enjoy. So if you're looking to turn your nose up because one of the counter staff is busy in their every day routine you should put on an evening dress and go get a $12 coffee on South Beach. But if you're looking for a quick shot of Cuban cocaine substitute in the form of a "cafecito" that is fast, cheap and delicious then stroll on in. I have been coming to this place since the original owner Vito was alive, he always met you with a smile, a joke and great cafe, and Cuban bakery staples. Many times I asked him what his secret was, he told me it was his customers they know what they're coming in for, they have a routine, as long as you give them good service good product at a decent price they keep coming back. And now that his twin daughters have taken over, the tradition continues. Yes, I agree sometimes the service is not fast, why don't you try to schlep out, 20 espresso shots, 6 lattes, 5 Cuban toast, 10 Pastries in less than five minutes. Nobody just comes here is really in a hurry, even people rushing off to work know that you got to come here and give it a few minutes cause it's worth it. On that rare occasion when you walk in and you're the only one store, three of the hostesses combined to get your order in seconds. I know my friends up north are going to ask them pastries? And what's the other things you mentioned? Well let me start off with the Cuban staple of "tostada" Which is the equivalent of Cuban toast. Imagine the best loaf of bread you ever had fresh baked,by the way they're baking it from the wee hours of 3 AM until closing. Next slather on a heaping helping of regular butter (no gluten free, etc. etc.) now take that put it on the Panini press and reduce it to a thin buttery hot delicious experience. Some people have told me it's better than sex, I don't know about that but it's pretty damn good anyways. All the pastries, well I can't go into all of them but I'll tell you what they have. They have cream cheese pastry, cream cheese and coconut, coconut, ground beef pastry, ham and cheese pastry, and guava and guava and cheese. (If you've never tried them come here and you'll have a genuine article) So if I'm in there having my "media colada", which is the equivalent of a double espresso, and you're standing in line waiting to receive your order, kindly keep your comments to yourself, wait for it receive it with a smile and enjoy the hell out of it because it's worth the wait. If not, open your big trap say something bad about the place and I'm sure one of the locals will be glad to kick your ass out on the street. It's just a Cuban thing! But I recommend you come in here with an open mind, an empty belly and ready taste buds. It is what it is A small, frill-less place that has some nice, flaky pastries. The selection of sandwiches is not vast, and the service is OK, but the prices are great. Came with a baby (no high chairs...bring a stroller) and got two guava pastries (real good) and an Opera (I think it was previously frozen) AND a cortadito. I came here with the family around the holidays and we had a great experience! It's an authentic cuban bakery/coffee shop. Pastelitos... cafe con leche... colada... cuban bread... you know the deal. The friendly owners were working side by side with with the super fast staff... moving through the considerable line of regulars giving them coffees, pastries and big smiles. They were very patient while I tried to order with muy mal epanol (out of practice after moving to NC). This place is made to grab and go on about your day.
