The teacher there, Susie, is extremely knowledgeable and I trust her insight and all of that. HOWEVER, her class is not a gentle yoga class. I've been to that class on various occasions and on some nights, I worked way harder than I wanted to. The pacing was way too fast for me and her cues came off as borderline militant. Nothing about it felt gentle or calming or relax. I left for the most part feeling just ok. Nothing overly spectacular. I almost felt like she was rushing to get as many postures in as possible. And for someone who's a 500 RYT (I think E-RYT, but I can't remember or bother to check), she does a lot more standing up at the front of the class room doing the poses than actively walking around and giving assists. I'm not saying she's a bad teacher. Again, she knows what she's talking about, but I'm not a fan of how the class was formatted or how she instructed it. She felt like she belonged in a power yoga class and not a gentle one. I mean, geez, if that's her version of gentle, I don't want to see what's regular ol' yoga. For me, I need a much slower practice, which requires me to either a) be picky as hell with finding the right teacher, usually an E-RYT 500 teacher who knows what they're doing or b) just take a gentle class. So if you're like me and are looking for those requirements or are simply looking for a relaxing gentle yoga class, this may not be for you. Still give it a try, who knows. We all like different things. I'm just no longer a fan.

Yoga has made the largest most important impact in my life. It has given me strength I didn't know I had. Offered me refuge when I needed it the most. And done something for me that is so important it is hard to put into words- forced me to make time for myself and made me take a deep look inward. None of this would have been possible without Absolute Yoga. All of the instructors bring a little something different to the mix yet they each share the same philosophy of guidance, support and encouragement. Even when they are kicking your ass, they are pushing you to push yourself all the while encouraging you to recognize your own boundaries. If you haven't attend a class, it is long overdue.

Every single teacher there is friendly and understanding, and explains not only how to do the poses, but modifications (to either up- or down- level), and the benefits of the poses and practice. It is a friendly, welcoming environment. I would recommend this to yoga newbies as well as advanced practitioners.

It's really tone deaf and speaks to this organization's lack of sensitivity to the more tender spots, which is weird for a yoga studio. Last time I was in a class, the owner snapped a picture of me while I was twisted in a pose with my eyes closed without asking. I assume it's for their marketing campaign. It was a real turnoff and in poor taste. I wish they'd find a happy medium because I'd go more often if they could.
