Tom Rosato, from JSP Home Services, added a 20 amp GFI outlet in our bathroom that had another outlet connected to the back end of it. My 15 amp circuit had blown and Tom made sure both outlets worked and reset before he left. He was very friendly, courteous (wanted to put plastic bags over his shoes to not make a mess) and he cleaned up afterwards. He also quoted upfront what the cost would be to replace the GFI and what he quoted is what I paid. My thanks to Tom and JSP Home services! On 09/12/2023 we had JSP Home Services out to our property. There was a clog in the sewer line. Samuel spent 3 hours with his electric snake with 0, yes, zero success. His electric snake just kept going into the vent and never touched the actual clog. I would have thought after 1 hour of this procedure he would have said there is nothing that could be done this way. But no, he kept going to the tune of $1260.00. 3 hours of nothing! I attempted to call the office the next day and was promised a call back from Samuel within 48 hours. Well, it has been way over 48 hours with no response from Samuel or JSP. I did contact another plumber and the clog was resolved in less than 3 hours. And to a much softer tune! I would not recommend using "J" ust "S" tupid "P" eople for your next job. PLEASE READ BEFORE USING THIS COMPANY! My husband and I had a horrible experience with them when they replaced our boiler. It was a RIDICULOUS rate but we felt backed in a corner because it was literally 3 degrees outside and we had no heat. Then it took them OVER A MONTH to actually get the boiler working properly and we STILL have a thermostat that is not the right thermostat even though it's been months now. They tried to "right their mistakes" by extending the customer service warranty saying we are at the top of the list and don't have to pay for service calls. Recently after the big rainstorm in the area, we had a leak and called them. It took an hour to hear back and even though we had the promise of free service calls, they charged $450 because it was "outside of business hours" which is something that was never made clear to us. They then misdiagnosed the issue by saying our water main had broken and said it would cost $11,000 dollars to fix which would include excavating up our backyard. With water pouring into our basement, we felt panicky and paid the $5,000 deposit on the spot at 11pm at night. (By the way, I've since learned that it is NYS law that a contractor can only take 1/3 the entire rate as a deposit.) The next day, after a long night of replacing towels and using the shop vac to control the water, the leak had stopped and we had two different second opinions who told us it was a leak in the foundation that simply needed to be fortified. There was never a water main break, and we didn't need to spend thousands of dollars to fix this issue OR have our yard ripped up. (Thank you to the two contractors who gave us honest second opinions!) In fact, the leak cost $250 to fix. Getting the refund of the deposit was another run-around that I wouldn't wish on anyone. They are a company that is not to be trusted. They will literally lie to cheat you out of money at your most desperate moment. Stay. Away. read more

I am a contractor. Worked with thousands of tradesmen/women, and hundreds of outfits over the years. JSP has gone down in my books as the worst company to work alongside of. I reached out to them to do some minor plumbing for a client and friend of mine. I originally called them in April. Its August now and they are still giving me and my client the runaround. They tell ya they will be there at this time on this date, best case scenario they show up 4-6 hours late. Normally they reschedule you for a later date. This has happened over a dozen times since April. Typically itll be one guy for this little pipe, a second guy for this pipe, a third guy for this faucet etc. They know how to string people along and they are not cheap. 8300$ to replace a 10' section of septic pipe? Wtf. This is just one of the things on the list. Ya tell them you need 6 things done and they give ya a price and then you pay the deposit and then they tell ya only 5 of the things were included in the price. Waited months for them to run some new pipes for a existing shower, I come in to goboard/sheetrock and their pipes are sticking out of the wall which would put a serious belly in my wall which is a no-go. They also forgot to install nail protectors that prevent nails and screws from penetrating the plumbing which is a code violation. They then tell me they are gonna send someone to fix it. The guy comes and then he says "Oh we need to send the guy that installed it to come fix it, he will be here tomorrow". What the f**k. Long story short stay a long ways away from these people. I rather do business with the Cartel or the Mafia before I ever give these guys business. My poor client was expecting to pay 7k at the start and they are easily 25k in the hole now AND 4 MONTHS BEHIND SCHEDULE! read more

Most of the time we are happy with JSP; so happy that we have purchased the VIP program. But what happened last week was just too much. We wren's getting enough heat in the house for these terribly cold days. Also, when we lost power, we had no back-up for our wall-mounted heating and cooling units, which, of course, are powered by electricity. When we had these units installed I had turned off the gas to our boiler, not wanting to risk a dead pilot light. Now I realized that I did need to turn the gas on again. While we were at it, I thought we might as well have the whole furnace system checked out. JSP sent a man they called a "comfort advisor". He lectured us about the way n which the wall units had been installed. Then he checked out the boiler and told us that the boiler was terribly corroded, and we would need a new one. He did no work at all. Then he invoiced us for $450. His estimate for re-installing the wall units was upwards of $5000, with no details (did this include carpentry? Electrical work?) his estimate for the new boiler was $450-in fact, the same amount as his bill for the service call. When I wrote them an email questioning this charge (and the confusing estimates), I received no response. When I finally called them and complained on the phone, the receptionist told me she would have the billing department take a look at the bills. Wrong answer; I wanted to speak to the billing department right then and there, or have them call me back within a few hours. Finally, the receptionist told me that I could have an appointment, but I'd have to wait until 30 minutes before the tech arrived to know when he would arrive! This must be a new rule and it is terribly inconvenient. I would not advise using JSP now. read more

I am shocked by the bad reviews here so I'm leaving my own! Got an appointment with JSP extremely quickly after this most recent storm. Bryan was my tech and he was so great. Fixed my problem very quickly and explained everything in detail. Yes it may be pricier than other places but my mom always told me "you get what you pay for" and the efficiency, quality and responsiveness of this team has been extremely impressive and comforting during a stressful time. read more

My daughter and son in law had this service company come to their home for their free estimate to identify an issue with pooling water in a central home air conditioner. The service person came to the home and was very pleasant and thorough. At the end of the visit the serviceman reviewed the $100+ trip charge to come to the house. My son in law stated being told of a trip charge being added to services they may receive if a job was being done, but wasn't aware of being charged a fee for the FREE estimate. The following day, my daughter went to use the air conditioning unit and it failed to turn on. Being over 90 degrees outside, not sure what the temperature was in the attic, my son in law was unable to diagnose the problem. A call was made to the JSP emergency number and was told that if it was not working due to an error of their technician, it would be free. If it wasn't working for a reason they believed to not be the result of their technician, it would be a $170 weekend trip charge, plus whatever else it cost to fix the issue and that the fee wouldn't be decided until they got on site. I called another company who understood my daughters predicament and they came over to assess the situation for only $50 plus any labor costs over 15 minutes of their diagnosis. The hvac technician came and flipped a switch the JSP technician turned off for the unit when doing the estimate. They called me Monday to follow up and when I told them I had to call another plumber to correct the issue and they thanked me for ensuring the issue was resolved and hung up. They may be good at their job but customer service is something severely lacking. read more

But... they quoted us 3800 for a job that Home Depot did for 1700 with a better unit, and much better warranty. So it seems the prey on people who have an urgent need for serivces, that was a very jacked price. Stay away. read more

I purchased the year contract, but it is not worth it. They cancel over and over at the last minute 3x in a row. I don't have time to take off of my job for them to not do theirs. It's hit and miss if you get a decent crew or not. One appt they did a great job on furnace on the next they busted the new chlorine pump on my well and didn't care and told me to check the warranty. I think they grew too fast and don't have a well-trained staff. Maybe I will try them again in a few years. read more

(Sorry for the delay in posting. At the few times of service over the past few months, there wasn't the same feeling throughout the house - especially where the money was coming from. However, now we have people here who agree, and now the review comes in.) Within 2022, we had several things done through the JSP Home Services at Kingston network. It started with a complete replacement of a very costly furnace. The workers couldn't get the job done in one day, and at the end of the job on the first day just got up and left - not even a mention of "we'll be back tomorrow", and when we called the phone customer service was hung up upon and was dealt with rudely. Though the item took two days, they are getting money under protest throughout my home. A few months later, we ended up having to have our faucet replaced. They advised us that full replacement would be very costly - even if we bought the necessary items for them to install to the tune of $500-$600+ - even after we became a yearly contracted customer with the warranty stuff alike. The job was done, but never again will we choose to use JSP because you are cheating your customer out of necessary funding that they could have went elsewhere with. Plus, the items they used don't work very well - the water out of the sprayer nozzle comes out a trickle, and the faucet fixture is much the same, with the secondary check of the connection to the dishwasher (our pipes are tricky) unchecked - which stinks. I know very few companies service my town due to bridge tolls, but this place was the pits in 2022! Give us a discount for installing our own replacement parts of more than $100-difference if we provide the items. read more

I contacted JSP for the installation of makeup air system . They told me they had experience installing them . They scheduled an appointment for a quote with a senior technician. Canceled that. Appointment set up a new date for different department to do quote. They came and said the original department had to do the quote as he only did the ele hook Up. re scheduled again. , Third time,canceled by jsp again, this time for medical reason.(understandable, but not happy) . The one star is for the simple fact that they will show up quickly and offer new customers a free estimate. But they are ridiculously expensive. I mean...I am not talking about the difference of a couple hundred dollars, I'm talking about thousands more than other places. The estimates are then divided into tiers which I could not make sense of because the estimates didn't include any specific information that differentiated them. So, they quoted me for a well pump using 3 tiers ranging from $5500-10k. I called other places who gave quotes between $2200-3800. ($3800-being the unlikely highest amount it could be when I nudged for worst case scenario). I've heard this is typical with JSP, they price very high. read more

Over a couple of days we were helped by three plumbers there--Ryan, Dave, and Jason--and they were all courteous, professional, kind, knowledgeable, and efficient. Twice, once for a plumbing issue and right now for a problem with my furnace, and I have been left hanging for at least 24 hours for them to come over to deal with the problem. I had made an appointment to have my boiler serviced a month in advance and received a text message confirming my appointment two days prior. However, at 3pm the day before I received a call stating my appointment was being canceled and they could not reschedule for an entire month which is well into the heating season and very poor practice. Being a nurse and a single mom- I need to be able to count on a company to honor their commitments- when scheduling is extremely tight for my schedule. To me that is the first part of being a reputable company and this company failed completely. UGH I wish I would have read these reviews before being scammed by these ppl. I googled "plumbers in Kingston" and they came up, they were nice on the phone. Long story short- they came up and told me I needed to replace my boiler immediately and to not use it until I did so. We had a small leak in the basement (but no damage and we didn't care bc there ain't anything down there) So they replace the boiler (4K) and then get me to subscribe to their membership which runs tests and diagnostics on everything. One month later boiler explodes and all my radiators leak thru my floors, ceilings and walls. Causing major damage. While I have a renter there and on Thanksgiving. Called their dispatch 5x and no one even called me back. Do not work with these ppl. Do not trust these ppl. Take the time and energy to find someone else to work with. Have used JSP for several years - expensive but usually come immediately so there's that. In June they replaced my central AC unit - $16,0000 - again expensive but I just wanted it done. In October, turning on the heat it turns out they never reconnected the pipes for the heating coils in the air handler. Water went everywhere causing slight damage and a big mess. Upon coming for three more days to complete the job that they said was done in June, all of my thermostats stopped working and the heat would not go off - the house was 90 degrees my only choice was to unplug the boiler. Coming yet again, the tech fiddled with some wires in my zone control box and declared the problem resolved. Guess what, an hour later the same thing happened. Another call and their only proposal was $1,700 to replace the zone control box. Obviously, I was livid as it worked fine for years until they were making changes to it. Furthermore, the box costs $250 at Home Depot and I figured I could rewire it myself in a couple of hours. Told them I was happy to pay something but I thought this was their fault and $1,700 was ridiculous. They did not care at all and offered me 10% off "as a courtesy" but would not even let me talk to a supervisor to explain that the problem was literally caused by them. An hour of Internet research and YouTube videos later, it turns out they had mis wired the box - there was nothing wrong at all once I restored it to the "pre JSP" configuration. These guys are sharks. Flashy trucks, nice plumbers but literally willing to insist I pay $1,700 for something that was their fault and furthermore was not even necessary. Not to mention they never completed the central AC install causing significant mess and time to clean up. It's hard to get a plumber these days and JSP answers the phone and comes quickly and has spiffy trucks but look out I'm sure they laugh back at the office at what they're telling people they need and what they charge them. I have had several appointments to get my furnace serviced. First one in October of 2023. I was called and asked if we could reschedule as there was an emergency called in to them. It was no problem and we rescheduled for November 2023 and was told we would be their first stop that day. Received a confirmation text the day before they were supposed to arrive. They didn't arrive. I tried calling multiple times, no answer. Was able to get a hold of someone through a chat message and was told that someone would be calling us shortly. I had a well pump replaced and they forgot to install the shut off valve I had a heating controller replaced and it was wired incorrectly Boiler leaking oil was told "it's not leaking, the smell is normal" two days later there is visibly oil under the boiler. JSP used to be a company that provided amazing service. That is no longer the case. Appointments get rescheduled at the last minute or they simply don't show up and don't have the courtesy to call and let you know no one is coming. Annual maintenance contracts used to cover all the HVAC equipment in your house, but now they want you to pay a separate, full-priced maintenance contract for each unit!! Also, every time a technician comes to the house, rather than repairing equipment you have, JSP wants to convince you that you need to replace it. I would no longer recommend JSP to anyone. Atrocious service and expect to pay a lot of money for equipment you don't need or for annual maintenance contracts when no one shows up for the semi-annual visits you are paying for. read more

I had them come out to check out my air handler. They told me it was shot and nothing could be done. They said because a closet was built around it, it was a 2 day job to replace and blah blah blah, would cost $18,000-$20,000. Another company fixed it for $300 and it's working just fine. They also said it would cost $8,000-10,000 to replace the handler and condenser. Would recommend avoiding them. read more

That they would have to charge me again to come out and pay more money. They called me told me to replace the unit now. They should have cam back and fixed it . So now I will be moving forward with Better business Bureau . And the Attorney General Office . I would never use a company like this that would rip people off. read more

We have been a JSP customer for 4 years. We have had 4-5 techs to the house and the have all been very good. Damon is exceptional. They are expensive, but the quality of work is great. We were ok paying because the work is done right the first time. We became VIP club members because of the perks (Priority scheduling, Guaranteed response time, 24 hour service, 15% member discount, coupons, and yearly furnace cleaning). We had part of a waste line that needed replacement and we called JSP. An appointment was scheduled. The day before we received a call from JSP that they needed to reschedule due to emergency service. It was rescheduled for the following Friday. That Friday, at around 2:00 PM JSP called and said they wouldn't be able to make it and wanted to reschedule for the following Friday. We were told they would be at our house first thing in the morning. The day before the Friday appointment JSP called and said they had to push us back because an emergency service. On Friday at around 2:30 PM I called because no one had showed up and they said I was still scheduled for the service. I said nope, it was too late. My wife and I had made plans and I told them I never would have scheduled it if I knew it was going to be that late in the day. I told the person that this is now 2 times that no one showed up and I was a bit irritated. They were going to let a manager know. A manager texted me and was apologetic and wanted to know how they could gain our trust again. I told her I had another service scheduled to do the yearly cleaning on the furnace. We'll see how this goes. Tuesday Nov, 17, 2020 I get an 8:30 AM courtesy call that the techs are out on their first calls. No need for us to stay at home as they will notify us when the tech is on their way to us. 11:30 AM another courtesy call that the techs are running behind and we are still scheduled for the service. At 4:00 PM I get a text they never heard back from me that we are home and they canceled on service. Please call to reschedule. I freaking lost my mind. I was livid. This is now 3 times no one showed up. I called JSP and told the person I wanted to talk to a manager. The manager did call me back and blamed me for them not showing up because I never called them back. I explained that the last I heard from them was at 11:30. He said it was in the log. This guy was a schmuck. They did call back and could come out the next day first thing in the morning for the furnace service. This irritated me even more since I had appointments with no shows and now they magically have availability first thing the next day. I don't know what has happened to this business. The techs are skilled. The quality of work is great. It could be that with the influx of people moving into this area that JSP is extremely busy. Not enough techs to handle the workload. If a service goes beyond a scheduled time for an unforseen issue that makes the scheduling/rescheduling a nightmare. Or just bad management. Whatever the issue is we not longer trust JSP. I would give them zero stars if i could. I asked for an estimate. They did come on time but were very arrogant about their plumbing knowledge. When I asked a question about press - fit, they just rolled their eyes and gave me the wrong answer. (Youtube showed 3 plumbers who just completed the job with press fit which he said could not be done). Additionally, they did not want to perform the job the way I wanted which would be more simple, longer lasting and cheaper. Of course they gave me no estimate because they probably thought I was cheap. Well, I am thrifty and proud of it! I went with another plumber who was thoughtful and fair and it was done quickly and efficiently without all the drama. DO NOT USE JSP HOME SERVICES!! VERY OVERPRICED AND WOULD NOT TRY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE!! I had them come out to check my air conditioner and they told me it was out of refrigerant and it would cost $1240. To recharge the system and if I wanted to check for a leak it would cost another $800 on top of the $1200. I had them recharge it without checking for leaks and it was empty in a day and a half. They were more interested in selling me a new system for $12900. I called to speak to someone in charge and they told me I had to speak to the tech that did the job. I spoke to the tech and was told there was nothing he could do. I had another company come in and test the system and fix the leak and recharge the system for a quarter of the price. read more

I will never use this company again. After having them come out to fix a clog in our downstairs toilet, the plumber did everything but. He instead had us purchase a new toilet with installation that ran us $871. Two days later the problem still existed and we called Roto Rooter. They came and unclogged the toilet right away. If the plumber had just done what we asked and not misled us to buy a new toilet, I could've saved $871. I am very upset by this and will never use them again. I feel I was scammed into buying something when all I needed was the line unclogged. Very disappointed. Update: The owner, John, contacted me as well as the plumber and they rectified the situation by giving me a complete refund since the problem was not fixed. I feel that was an amazing gesture of integrity. I love supporting local businesses and would definitely use them again since they went above and beyond by making me a happy customer. read more

We found JSP online, and went with them based on their stellar reviews. The first time we had them out, their technician convinced us to pay just over $600 up front to become "VIP" customers. According to their pamphlet, VIP customers get several perks like yearly boiler service included, priority service when they are busy, discounts on parts. and a slew of other things. As new owners of an old house, it seemed like a good idea to us. The tech told us they would be in touch soon to schedule time to service the boiler. Weeks went by, and eventually a hot water knob in our upstairs bathroom stopped working. The JSP tech came out and told us he can't fix it without ripping out the wall. That was a bummer, but while there, he found a leak from the downstairs bathroom that we had not noticed. Told us it could be causing structural damage (said the toilet might fall through the floor!), possibly creating mold in the basement, and needs to be fixed URGENTLY. We were glad he found it. He quoted around 2K in repairs and he shut off water to half of the house to stop the leak. I told him to go ahead and do what he needs to do ASAP. He told me someone would call me later that day or the next day to schedule service. Those days passed with no contact from JSP. then the next week, then the week after that. Finally we called another plumber, who was able to fix the downstairs leak and the upstairs faucet (without ripping out the wall), in about an hour. Turns out, there was no risk of structural damage, and no mold. He replaced a toilet feeder line, a $10 part. In the end, his cost for both jobs was about 1/5 of what JSP quoted us for one. They also never managed to schedule the boiler service. So after more weeks of waiting, we had the new guy do that too. Sometimes they answer their phone. Sometimes calls go to an answering service (during business hours). The answering service, while pleasant, is quick to inform me that they don't work for JSP and can only pass on my message. And I've never been called back after leaving a message with the service. At this point, we've given about $700 to JSP and gotten absolutely nothing in return. On top of that, we've also had to pay the guy who was actually able to get this work done for us. Eventually, I asked for our money back and a manager at JSP agreed to refund our "VIP" fee. But time has passed and that hasn't happened either. The last communication from them was another message that they'd call me back. I don't have much hope that they will. I suppose it's on us for spending all that money upfront without doing our homework. The only option left to us seems to be to attempt a credit card charge-back. But we feel like we should warn new homeowners in the area who are looking for a reliable plumbing service: avoid these guys. read more

I believe the word scam is an appropriate word to describe what I just experienced. I was quoted outrageous prices for straightforward simple jobs. After my husband balked at the prices he was told that we owe them $119 plus tax because they came out to give a quote. I'm assuming this is how they afforded to open up a new building and have all those shiny trucks. The only reason I had made an appointment with them was because they had availability pretty much right away, now I know why they have availability. I saw that the companies next stop was two houses up at an elderly couple's house. I do hope they saw through this scam. My boiler stopped working on the coldest day of the year.We needed a repair man ASP. I went to the internet and JSP popped up. Great website and said they will come quickly. So I call and was greeted by a wonderful lady. Who was super friendly. I told her my problem and she assured me that I was in good hands and a repair will help us.Great! I was contacted in 30 minutes and the repair man was at my front door within an hour. He was very polite and was dressed to the max .Man !were we happy! That was until they gave me the bill. Man I almost fainted. I could not believe it was that expensive. We are on SS and don't have much. I know he had to replace a part but still everything was so expensive. just be prepared to pay a lot for the great service. read more

This company was great ,we have a service contract and it has been 2 weeks since our first call ,parts were not received and no call to inform us ,tech trying to tell us it would be quicker if we replaced the whole system but we would also need to redo the ducts and return,very unhappy . OVERPRICED AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. We had no water, needed a water pump. JSP responded fairly quickly. Guy came out a little late but ok, he was finishing up a job. He shows an estimate on a tablet, no printout. $5k! We say not an emergency rush, we can make do, just so it's not an emergency call charge too. Inconvenient, but we will be ok. Guy says he can do the next day. We should've shopped around but didn't know what was entailed because we had no itemized estimate to go off of. 2 guys come, for about 2 hours, completed the job. With parts, and even with our guesstimate of $200/hour labor for 2 guys each for 2 hours, would've been ALOT cheaper. We watched what they did, what materials used, etc. Estimate was supposed to be free. No idea because we thought we'd get an itemized invoice then, but no, and they leave. We receive a flat $5k invoice not itemized. We still pay it because they did the job. We made several calls and email requests for the itemized invoice. Female at JSP states, "we never give an itemized invoice to anyone/ job we do". We ask for one again. She says she'll speak to someone else about and get back to us. No response. Emails later, still, to-date (2/3/24), no response. Also, we tried to use them for a business job, and they wouldn't provide a Certificate of Insurance naming the business as an Additional Insured... the owner of the business and property.
