One of my most favorite dessert place in Lubbock. My favorite are most of the sundaes and the mocha Baby. It's a great place for hanging out in the open with friends and the best part it's open till 11 pm, so one can satisfy their sudden after dinner dessert cravings. It's a little far away from campus, but that doesn't stop the hoards of students who frequent this place at all hours. I gave up on the drive-thru, which had cars lined up into the street on a Friday night. Parking the car and ordering at the register was much quicker. I don't even like sweets, but this place has something for everyone. If you're like me and you're not into eating large amounts of custard ice cream, there are smoothies, floats, shakes, malts, and old fashioned sodas. Man, alive, the menu is so big it's divided onto two walls. I ordered a Buck-a-Roo, which is a cup of custard topped with strawberries, bananas and hot fudge. It was freakin' delicious! Even in the smallest size, though, it was too much ice cream for me. I went into a frozen custard coma immediately afterwards. I understand the increase in price since the change in your menu because we are in food service also. we went last week for our weekly visit and my husband asked to see the receipt because we ordered our normal order of two lone stars, no hot fudge and add caramel instead. . They charged us $9.22 each. We went back tonight and ordered the same thing but questioned why when you take off one sauce and switch for another the price goes up over $2. The young redhead and a blonde "manager" said it was the new pricing. Normally we purchase 20 gift cards for friends and family for stocking but this years it will be from somewhere else. AMAZING!!!! I love ice cream and have had a LOT of it. I got the blackberry brownie concrete. Hands down, the BEST ice cream I've ever had!!! My husband got the cinnamon churro concrete and said that's the best ice cream he has ever had. And they gave a baby cone to my toddler for free. We were visiting family when we came across this wonderful delight. Great and quick service. They have vanilla and chocolate custard only, but you can mix the flavor with an array of toppings to get something that resembles a Dairy Queen blizzard. My husband had the "mother in law" and I had two scoops of vanilla with butterscotch. I could have had the vanilla scoops on their own. Very, very, very good vanilla. Would definitely stop by this place again, but alas, not sure we will ever come to Lubbock again. Would have liked to have had more selection on the plain flavors to choose from. read more

Anyone who had been to Sheridan's knows that they had THE best frozen custard. The store recently switched from Sheridan's to "J's" creamery and things couldn't be worse. Though the workers are prompted to tell you that all the recipes and the menu will stay mostly the same, besides some add-ons, it's not the same. The custard is not as smooth, the chocolate custard does not taste nearly similar to the original Sheridan's flavor. Even the vanilla has a different flavor. Sheridan's was my favorite place to go, but all good things come to end. J's creamery is no better than the Dairy Queen down the street. read more

I haven't tried the place when it was sheridans so I can't compare, and I don't have any particular passion for frozen custard, but I think this place gets scores for presentation. They've made the place look clean and modern, and they get stars from me on that point. The taste? For me the preset menu items are too much. I tried the salted caramel brownie sundae without the caramel bc I knew it would be too sweet for me, but that salt without the caramel was a bad decision on my part... probably would have been better with just the vanilla custard and the brownies...but the good part is you can make your own, so next time I will try that instead. Also, they get stars for having reasonable sizes, (they have small, medium, and large), and the small size actually is a reasonably small cup size lol. Overall, reasonable place, and I'd try it again and create my own next time! read more

Soooo creamy and soooo delicious! I've tried the J's royal turtle and Salted caramel brownie sundaes. Both were absolutely delicious!! Both were larger than I had expected and the consistency of the custard was perfect. I highly recommend the royal turtle. The Salted caramel was delicious but the salt was.. chunky? Lolol it took me by complete surprise. I was literally chewing on tiny pebble sized salt which was (DUH) super salty. Wish it was more sprinkle like! Also it's always jam packed... and only has outside seating which is literally infested with mosquitos Overall a great custard place! Highly recommended! Just eat inside your car if you're a mosquito magnet like me. read more

Used to be a solid place, went there a few times a month. Unfortunately, haven't been in almost five months due to lack of quality service/product. When they get busy, they do not mix anything totally. Half the ice cream will have "the goods" and the other half is just plain vanilla. And they are usually busy, which isn't the problem- the product mixed well is awesome. But after this happening to me multiple times in a row- I am now a die hard Holly Hop fan. read more

We were in the line long before they closed. Several cars were ahead of us and behind us, when we got up to order which was after 10 (the closing time) the boy came on the speaker and said we are closed. This is the rudest staff I have dealt with, the kids in this location play around constantly and are slow making orders. If they did not want to serve people after a certain time, they should have some one block off the incoming traffic to stop cars from coming in. This place is THE place to go for custard and concretes. Their "No compromise" standard really shows in the quality of the products they serve. Their customer service is on point and so is their custard. I am in love with the "be my cupcake" concrete while my bf loves the "buck-a-roo" sundae. I also love their strawberry banana smoothie!! I love the variety of choices I get when I come here! The prices are reasonable for the amount and the quality. This is my go-to place for any time Im feeling a little down or just have that sweet tooth craving. Definitely come here if you get the opportunity. At first I ignored Sheridan's. I asked myself, "What's that? Some kind of diner?" and from the outside, that's what it looks like, but it's actually a frozen custard place. You can't actually walk inside--you either go through the drive-in your you stand at the window and wait like you're buying a ticket at a movie theater--but it has that diner atmosphere. It feels very 1950s classic when you're sitting there eating your frozen custard on a bench as they play Elvis music and run the fans on a hot summer day (it's a covered waiting area, so you're not just standing there in the open, and during cooler months they have lamps that double as heaters). The frozen custard itself is amazing. Frozen custard is made at a lower temperature than ice cream, so rather than numbing your taste buds and dumbing down the taste, it creates a richer and sweeter experience than ice cream. It's not just the custard, though: you can get a "concrete", which is a cup of custard combined with any number of toppings (and seriously, they have virtually anything you could think of), or you could go old school and get a sundae. The possibilities are almost endless thanks to how many toppings they have (30+, probably a lot more). The prices aren't bad either; a medium cup will cost you about $5, but this medium is much larger than most ice cream places and the custard itself is denser than ice cream (no air pockets!), so it's well worth it. I highly recommend that any fan of ice cream tries this place at least once. In the realm of frozen treats, this the best place in town. read more

Sheridan's is, well, totally scrumptious. I ordered some sort of sundae (can't remember the cute title they had for it) and it was deeeee-lish. The custard was very soft and rich and the brownie with hot fudge was to die for. Perfect temperature and all. The only reason I took off a star is for price. We used to have one of these in Ft Worth, until it burned down and they decided not to rebuild (PLEASE rethink this!!). Sheridan's has the most fantastic lemonade... yes, you read that right. Lemonade. It is made in house and is just the right mix of sweet and sour. The frozen custard is great, too, don't get me wrong, but a lemonade fits better into my day occasionally that a concrete. read more
