Raymond and crew came out July 10 and overcharged for reinstalling a toilet. It's over 2 weeks later, and still no invoice or warranty. What they did right: 1. Raymond responded on the phone right away. Came out a few hours later on a Saturday. His crew came by an hour and wrapped up in less than an hour. 2. Raymond was fairly patient on answering questions, easy to understand, and had a part 1 & part 2 plan if the leak was not resolved. 3. The toilet leak fixed. Why I'm giving them a low review (with screenshots to supplement) 1. Raymond charged $250 to reseat a toilet with two wax rings. In total, those two wax rings and caulking definitely cost less than $10. It took ~30 minutes of labor so I suppose the hourly rate was $200+? I would understand a weekend surcharge, but that is still overpriced. 2. Raymond was fine with me paying with credit card, and said to give him a call to pay after the service if his crew didn't have a processor on them. The crew didn't, so I texted him to arrange payment. Suddenly he wanted Zelle or Cashapp. I said I didn't have those. He promised to call in a few...and ended up calling the next day instead (at an inconvenient time). I sat around with my credit card ready for several hours before I put it away. 3. He promised to send me the invoice & warranty documents the next day. I sent him a reminder Sunday, Tues, Wed. He replied to each of those, but on Thursday & Friday & Sat - he stopped responding. I'm assuming he never will. I recognize he thinks his service is done, but it's not done until you provide all the promised deliverables. On a separate note, he offered to connect me with his drywall guy, but never offered any names/contact which makes me suspicious that he would inflate the drywall guy's project price and take a cut. This has happened to me before, and I ended up paying thousands more for the work than if I had hired directly. Perhaps this is common in the construction industry, but I do not condone this practice. If you don't care about getting a reasonable price and getting the receipt & warranty for tax purposes and keeping documentation on your house, Raymond's fine and gets the job done. But for the premium price, I was expecting better customer service. Namely, promptness in the invoicing & no resistance on paying with the already agreed upon method of credit card. I was not going to write this review just for the price - I had agreed upon it beforehand...but the overall experience I think warrants warning others.

Water retention after they claimed they "fixed" my leak in my yard. No rain this past weekend. 1/29-1/30/2022

After Harvey we had these folks come out and make sure the units had not been damaged as we failed…read moreto shut the units off when we evacuated. They come every 6 mos. to do a maintenance check up. Each service they arrive on time, they are courteous and consistent with the service person being the same on each occasion. Thus the CS is streamlined. Everybody knows you clean the AC coils in the Fall and the Spring. You buy the can of gunk, spray and wash. Oh wait, everyone knows to turn off breaker and the thermostat, right... that requires reading the instructions on the can. Not mentioning any names on who fails to read instructions. Guests are arriving the following day and they cannot all sleep in the wine chiller. Houston heat is serious, this company responded and resolved the issue with the breaker. Hats off Jason. Trip charge was the least of the stress. Crisis resolved.

PROS: - Polite people who tried to be helpful…read more CONS: - The quote could have been provided over the phone. - Didn't confirm requested work scope over the phone. - Requesting an $80 non-refundable deposit and then offering an unreasonable estimate soured my opinion of Air Express/McWilliams (~$1,300 offered vs ~$519 from a competitor). I requested a quote for home modifications to enable use of a portable backup generator: 1. Panel interlock switch. 2. A/C soft start kit to reduce the number of amps required to start. 3. Add a tee, valve, and quick connect to the natural gas line to allow the generator to run on gas. In order to get a quote, they said I needed to have somebody stop by. $80 charge to visit. I agreed and set up an appointment, with intention to accept their quote. They seemed like a high quality company to me. When the Air Express/McWilliams rep arrived, he provided a $1,300 quote for the soft start kit from beside his truck. He never even looked at the A/C. Compare this to ~$519 and ~$600 from two other service providers (Air Oracle was the cheapest). I said that this was far more expensive than other quotes, and asked why the price was so much higher. The rep simply mentioned that Air Express/McWilliams is a big company with high overhead. I'm willing to pay more for value, but if the only difference is company overhead, then my answer is "no". I went with Air Oracle instead to do the soft start kit install. It was an excellent experience from start to finish and I appreciated that they confirmed my generator will be able to start the A/C now. It was such a good experience that I will likely sign up for their annual maintenance package. Regarding the panel interlock switch, the Air Express/McWillams rep told me that they don't do electrical work. He mentioned that the dispatcher included something like this in the work request, but he wasn't sure exactly what I needed. This could have been a great time to call me prior to the appointment. While at my home, the rep kindly provided the contact info for an electrician. Instead, I went with a company called Lee Services. They will install next week. Their quoted price was competitive in comparison, and I have a lot of confidence that everything will be done to local code requirements. Finally, the Air Express/McWilliams rep said that changes to the gas line would require a second visit at additional cost. I declined and went with Tony's Plumbing. Excellent service; they went over the work and confirmed local requirements to have it done properly. They also confirmed that my line would be able to provide enough gas for the generator to run at the rated capacity. So really, Air Express/McWilliams set up an appointment without confirming they they understood my requested work scope. They also didn't tell me that they couldn't do all of the requested work prior to the appointment. After the visit I received an email asking for feedback on my visit. The email link sent me to a web page that offered to have someone contact me to make things right. I explained the situation on the web form and asked for my $80 back one week ago. No reply. I don't like to provide negative reviews, and am sure that Air Express/McWilliams would want to make things right by refunding my $80 deposit. Perhaps they need more time to get back to me. I'm hoping that all who read this take note to get as much information on the phone as possible so you're not surprised.

It had been almost 15 years so it was time to replace our gas water heaters…read more Water heaters had started to make that loud knocking noise which is a sign to shop water heaters. I looked online and called and got estimates from several plumbing companies and then found Houston Water Heaters. I called and was greeted by Lisa whom was so nice and listened to my needs. I told Lisa that I needed an estimate for 2 gas water heaters that are located in the attic of a 2 story house. ( attic & 2 stories at time are extra charge) Lisa transferred me to talk to a gentleman named Steve, which In continuing our conversation I found out was the owner. Steve answered all my questions and told me more than the other plumbing companies had told me. Steve and Lisa listened to ALL my questions, which to me is important. I decided to put my money and trust in Houston Water Heaters as installing Water Heaters is ALL they do, so I felt confident that they knew what they were doing. I got an estimate and added the install day to my calendar and waited. On the day of install the 2 gentlemen called to give me an arrival time. They showed up, did the install and got us up to code with the guild lines of the city that we live in. Daniel & Zach did a great job and we got a 1/5 year warranty included in the price. We paid when the job was done and we are happy with the job they did.

We have used them twice to replace 4 water heaters total. We probably need one or more replaced…read moreagain and I highly recommend this company. They were professional, punctual, informative and did great work. They also cleaned up well when they were done. It has been about 10 years and I hope they are still the same. Their prices are about the same as others...meaning they are competitive and not too high.
