We recently purchased a new home with a swimming pool and 8 Princess Palms behind it. We are new to both the pool and the palm trees. I called JP palms due to their many positive reviews. I wasn't disappointed. They did a great job, cleaned up after themselves and charged us a fair price for the job. JP worked us into his very busy schedule as we suddenly had several huge pods open up. We were unaware that was even a thing. Soon the flowers from the palms were reeking havoc on our pool filtration system and 4 more pods were threatening to open up very soon as well. It was a nightmare! JP and his assistant did a fabulous job cleaning them up. Watching him climb those trees was really quite impressive. They finished the job fairly quickly even though they were battling yellow jacket attacks the whole time! Those wasps were showing no mercy, but both men kept working. JP suggested that in the future we hose the trees down to discourage wasps from building nests. He also taught us how to best care for our beautiful palms. I must say, now that we have Palms we are constantly noticing them when out and about. Ours look super healthy compared to most of the ones we see! JP now takes care of our palms twice a year, both to keep the palms healthy and to protect our pool filtration system. I've used this service a total of 4 times. In the past I had good experiences. I got a quote for 6 trees. This was my home and is currently a rental property and I couldn't remember how many were still there. Apparently quote was from Google maps. I drove by and noticed there was only 4. I've never had a tree get serviced from this particular company, but I wanted to share a story about JP and how he saved my wedding. In my cultural wedding, we use seeds from the queen palm to shower the bride and groom after they get married. The seeds are a symbolic part of the wedding. It must be a fresh pod from the tree with fresh seeds. If it were more than a couple weeks old it will be dried and withered, meaning you must get it a couple days before the ceremony. It was very difficult to find a pod, I've searched for months to find a good sized pod that would be the right age and size during the wedding. Most have withered or too small or too high. I called JP on a whim and told him my situation. He said that this is an odd request but he told me he can try his best to help me out because my story touched him. He said it won't be easy but he will call if he finds a Queen palm. Days had passed and my wedding is coming up, still no reply. He called me 2 days before the wedding and told me that there's a possibility that that he could get me a large pod from the palm tree. They had just trimmed the queen palm! He text me and said that it was available! JP's business was closed for the weekend because he was going out of town, he put his trip on hold so I would be able to drive to Tracy and pick up the pod after work, he waited and gently loaded it in my car. If it wasn't for JP, I would not have the cultural wedding with this very important ceremony. I really appreciate it and he is a very genuine person. I asked JP to trim a queen palm and 2 canaries. The crew showed up and were pretty quick and did a pretty good job. The issue is that they cut too deep on one canary, cutting into the core and creating an eyesore in the base of the trunk. They left and said nothing. I texted him a few days later, showing him the issue. He eventually apologized and promised to maintain that tree for free. Given the premium that he charges, I thought that was a good resolution. I have texted him 3 times recently, asking for a trim and he said he can't do it because he's short handed. He has since ghosted me and will not answer my texts. Horrible experience and the worst communication. First off he gave me a bogus quote, then wanted to charge way more than I've paid in the past after the job was done. However- the BIGGEST issue was they broke my electric gate and didn't let me know! They tried to even hide the fact that they broke it. This is a very dishonest business! They basically were cutting my palm branches over my electric gate fence, which they could have asked me to shut or they could have took precautions so branches weren't falling on my gate. They did neither and broke my gate! I caught them on my cameras trying to put a piece back on the gate that they clearly broke at the welding from a fallen palm branch. I guess they figured we wouldn't notice how it got broke. Luckily I have camera on the property and when I confronted JP about it; his response was, "so you aren't going to pay me?" Seriously! This is how this business owner handles property damage? He never apologized or even admitted to breaking the gate, or trying to hide it, even after I sent him video proof of the damage. He didn't even respond. Then a week later asks me to get paid again. I said I'd have to get my gate fixed first, so I had to spend time finding someone to repair my gate. I paid him less the cost to fix my gate as it should be. I should'nt have paid him at all because of his lack of good communication on the quote, basically charging me way more than my budget. He should have given me a quote in writing explaining options, etc before starting on the project. So be sure you get everything in writing because you could end up paying 2 to 3 times more when you are done. Be sure you are also there to supervise them or have camera because they have no respect for any property damage they cause. I would steer clear, they are way over priced anyway and unprofessional. There are cheaper and better quality options out there in the area!! Ask me and I'm happy to point you in a better direction. read more

Where do I start with this company. JP Palms service may have the worst customer service ive dealt with. He has no showed 3 times in three weeks. And when I mean no show, I mean he schedules me for Wednesday at 7am. Didn't show up, and failed to respond to my messaged until later that night. And repeated this not twice, but three times. I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he did a decent job last year. Icing on the cake. During the first quote, he asked that I buy his team lunch when they came to do the job. I ordered pizzas and he no showed, so I was stuck with that also ‍ Fast forward to today (He no showed with his crew again yesterday, said the climber didn't show up). He messaged me letting me know he could no longer do the job because he quoted me too little and made even more excuses. Please save yourself the headache with this company. read more

We have been using JP's Palms Trimming for 6 years. When we first moved into our home I called JP to set up an estimate to remove an ugly overgrown beast of a palm tree from our front yard and to trim the smaller ones in back. He set an appointment for the following week (due to my schedule) but he actually drove by my house that evening to look at the tree in front. He called me the following day and said no way, you don't want to remove that tree. He said "let me clean it up so you can see just how beautiful it is". We went back and forth and I finally agreed to let him trim it and clean it up, even though I was sure we would end up removing it any way. He came out the following week to take a look at the trees in the back and gave us a very reasonable quote. In fact it was lower than our 2 other estimates. He returned later that week and trimmed the beast. It took him most of the day but when it was done WOW, WOW and WOW that tree was absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had before and after pictures but I forgot to take them. Since then we have him come every year and trim up the trees. I don't even have to remember to call him he calls me when it is time. Their prices are very reasonable and JP and his crew are always on time, they clean up after themselves and are very professional and personable.
