I had heard a friend talk about this liquor store in the past, so I thought I'd give it a try. I was very impressed with the staff and how they worked with me to get a few whiskey bottles I've been looking for. This is not a place you walk in and pay retail for their top end lines. Most places hide those bottles in the back and you have to be "special" to gain access to them. If you are willing to tell them what you are looking for... they will walk you through the process. You may pay a bit more on some items, but I'd rather support a smaller business than the larger stores. I'll be back for sure. read more

I went to purchase several bottles of bourbon for a charity event. When i asked about bourbon behind the counter I was shocked at the prices they were asking which were almost 5 times retail price. I was also told I couldn't buy a bottle since it was the last one. I do not recommend buying from them. read more

The nicest price gougers around. I had accepted this was a whiskey museum where you pay for access you couldn't otherwise get, but then I went to buy a 6 pack of soda which was $12, double the price of any other store. Not for me i don't see how I can trust any of their prices. read more

Was shopping for bourbon. They have a huge selection. It's a mix of secondary prices and retail. If you're expecting to waltz in and buy a bottle of Pappy for retail price you'll be big disappoint. The super rare bottles are all priced above secondary price so I assume he doesn't care if he sells them. But if you're looking for other unique bottles, various barrel picks, or labels not made by Buffalo Trace, etc, you'll probably love it. Owner was nice, I'll go back! read more

This is a must stop place if you are in the area or passing through! You will be taken back by the rare variety available. I was totally unprepared for what I walked into. The owner is very friendly, knowledgeable, and offers wonderful conversation. I was able to grab a few bottles of hard to find bourbons that I would other wise spend who knows how long searching for back home. If you want it then most likely it's available. Note given the rarity of select bottles be prepared to pay for rarity. That being said there are many things at bargains as well as good "Package" deals the owner offers. Came in to grab a limited 4 pack for my buddy. Guy would only sell me one can. Even offered to buy the 4 cans individually. It's only sold in a 4 pack. Still would only give me one can. Transitioned into looking for a whiskey. Clerk couldn't care less about helping me find a bourbon that I was willing to drop good money on after the beer endeavor. ***HORRIBLE BUSINESS*** I just drove 45 minutes after calling the establishment to verify they had Affy Tapple 4 pack available. Man on the phone said yes, but I can't hold any and stated it was a limit of one. (Mind you, they were released as a 4-pack so you would assume you would be able to buy 1-4 pack. When I arrived, the man told me he is only selling 1 can per customer!!! He gives me the total of $5.38 for 1 can!!! Per Affy Tapple and Phase 3 Brewing, the 4 packs were to be released for $11.99 per 4 pack and they would donate $1 for each 4 pack sold to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Well since this man is selling them for over $20 per 4 pack...I wonder how much is being donated? What a shady business!!! read more

If you are looking for a variety of bourbon and whiskey this is your place. Friendly owner, very knowledgeable with regards to the spirits. This store has many different barrel picks to choose from. Some of the highly allocated bottles in stock are overpriced and compare to secondary pricing but the rest of his whiskey inventory is close to MSRP. read more

Went to pick up a bottle of Eagle Rare Bourbon that the website said they had in stock. Well it was in stock, but the sales clerk would not sell any of the five bottles that were on the shelf behind the counter. He gave some lame excuse that they were special select bottles and that the owner was keeping them for himself. Next shipment wasn't due until May. If I could rate zero stars I would. read more

It's your typical liquor store, but they have quite an impressive beer selection. Lots of craft beers and of course the usual selection of Miller and Budweiser beers. We only stop here when we visit the in law's since they live down the street, but it's convenient and quick and the prices are reasonable. read more

An annasuming strip mall liquor store with a pretty expansive craft beer selection. I'd say 8-10 coolers, a 20-30 foot shelf and a huge shelf of bombers from alot of fine breweries at pretty standard prices. The real secret is on the floor behind the counter where they keep the "good" stuff! Lol. Currently an $8 12oz bottle of Hop Slam as well as a few $3 bottles of Gumball Head...amongst some other various goodies like Whiskey and Tequila... Pretty reasonable. This place is a hidden gem for beer geeks such as myself. I love it! I collect/drink rare craft beers, and I've repeatedly found myself coming to JP. The best thing about this place - If you're looking for something that's hard to find, talk to the owner (Pat). I love Firestone's limited release beers like Parabola, Sucaba, and Stickee Monkee. Unfortunately, these beers are hard to come by in the Midwest. I asked Pat if he had a way of getting them, and sure enough the man comes through. Not only did he manage to get the limited releases of Parabola, Sucaba, and Stickee Monkee and many more over the years, but he sold them for a decent price. When Goose Island releases BCBS every year, JP has all variations. Overall, it's a great place! read more

I will say they have a decent selection but the front cashier was very rude and was rushing me to get out even though it was more than 20 minutes before close. For bourbon lovers: 500 for old rip van winkle 10 that is 60 retail, and 700 for van vinkle lot b that retails for 80. These prices are well beyond what people even resell them for, how the hell am I supposed to find one and enjoy it if its gouged to this extent at the retailer?
