We had never been to this liquor store previously, my husband and and are not big drinkers (except when we go to a restaurant and they offer a Long Island Iced tea... I can't resist!) We were purchasing some adult beverages for an upcoming wedding, and were overwhelmed by their huge selection! The manager Mike, a really nice and courteous man offered to help us with our selection, and even went down to the basement to get us more. I would recommend Sal's in Villa Park over any Binnys location. They are generous with their Bourbon allocation, they have a great selection of craft beer, and many unique tequilas. I will be going here for most items we need. the staff here were all awesome and very helpful. We purchased even more items after they helped with a PRICE MATCH. I think we spent over $250 total for NYE party and it will be good. The service we got here tells a lot about the store and owners, everyone here was very helpful, so you know owners take good care of them. Buy here and save the running around time for drinking. This Sal's just went up and opened a few days ago. Since I like the other Sal's down the road, I wanted to check this one out too. As soon as I walked in, I was hit with the new construction smell. Don't you just love the smell of freshly poured concrete? I do! I know, I'm weird but I love new places. There's nothing better than a nice, big, clean space. The store is super organized (perfect for OCD people) and the staff is very helpful. They have such a wide variety of liquor and their beer selection is pretty solid if I must stay so myself. They even have a "Mix a Six" deal, two fridges full of single craft beers for you to make your own little six pack for $10. How cool!! This might have to be my new go to liquor store. read more

This review is not for Sal's selection. This review is for an Employee. While shopping today I saw who I'm assuming is a manager make a scene. A delivery driver came to pick up a delivery. He was in uniform and got permission to take the order from another employee. This crazed manager went flying outside and ripped the order out of the drivers hand and accused him of stealing. When the driver came back in and showed this manager that he indeed was there to pick up an order with correct documentation this manager lowered his head and walked away. No apology to the delivery driver, no apology to the other employees and most importantly no apology for the very uncomfortable scene he made. I feel bad for the other employees who have to deal with this Jerk everyday. read more

We just went to a beer tasting at the Villa Park location. Both my husband and I left saying that we were so impressed with Sal's! All of the employees were so friendly and made an effort to interact with customers during the tasting. It felt like a family! We visit Binny's regularly, but this was St he fist time we visited a Sal's (we don't have one near our house unfortunately). What a difference! Don't dare tell me I'm a band-wagon beer fan and that you will not sell me a beer you have in back because you're holding it for your "good customers". Piss off. I hope all the other non "good customers" read this and head the warning to go elsewhere for there beverage needs. The staff is rude and prejudice. We placed an online order so that it would be ready when I got to the store. Upon arrival I provided the store associate with the name on the order, the order number and the items that I was picking up. I presented my drivers license since I was the listed as the pickup person I. The order. The store associate said he could not release this order that only the person that places the order can pick up the order. Which I explained that couldn't be the case if there is an option for a pickup person. This same option is provided by Binnys and instacart which I use all the time along with other retail stores. The associate claimed it was store policy. I asked the associate to cancel the order and I will go retrieve my own items. I became suspicious when we received the cancellation email with the reason as being "items not in stock" but yet I was able to retrieve my items. To test my theory I had some of my close friends who happen to be white place an order online with the same scenario. One person orders and the other is listed as the pickup person. This couple successfully picked up their order which was previously a store policy not to provide an order to the pickup person. If I could give zero stars for being racist I would. read more

Sal's has some of the best service & selection you'll find at any liquor store. Prices are comparable to Binny's, but Sal's staff actually has a working knowledge off wine, liquor and beer, as opposed to the knuckleheads at Binny's who don't know what they're selling. read more

It's new and super organized! The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will help you find things you had no idea you wanted. There are huge selections of liquor, wine and beer. I have to admit, on my visit, I was completely distracted by the refrigerated wall of beer. Cold beer of such a variety that I've never encountered before. Beer that is usually only found on the shelf, you can now find cold. I don't know about you, but when I go to purchase beer, 9 times out of 10 I want it cold. They offer the usual mix-six for $10, but their new take on it...you can pick COLD singles! Brilliant! I'm not talking only mega breweries or the bombers, but a nice variety of microbreweries as well, from all over. I know the selection didn't include every brew they offer, but it sure seemed close. Go check them out...I will be stunned if you are disappointed. read more

This is hands down my favorite liquor . The staff is always so pleasant and friendly. They make you feel welcomed and are happy to see you. The manager Dan, adds to the experience. He is always willing to help you find what you're looking for, on the rare occasion they don't have it. He offers up suggestions for various other excellent products. This is a sister store to the one on Elhumrst (St Charles Rd) of which is just across the street from where I live. But they didn't have the Bulliet Bourbon in 1.75L which was disappointing but the lovely person who check the system told me there was few bottles in their sister store on Roosevelt, I track down and walk into the store. This place is bigger than the other store, but do not have much variety in high end liquor. But they did have the booze I needed which is always a plus. They had some sampling tables set up and giving out mixed drinks, but I didn't partake because it just looked way too sweet for my liking. Think of this place is a less stuck up step sister of Binny's. Pretty good selections here. But for high end stuff, one on Elmhurst might be a better bet. read more

Apparently, they thought it should be charging different prices for the same product. Go figure. Then, looked at me like I had something wrong with me when I became annoyed with them for making me wait for them to "fix" their "glitch". HUH? We came here in search of the elusive Hopslam. We'd been to one other place that had sold out 20 minutes before we got there, so we took a chance on this place from a lead we saw online. The store is clean, large and clear in its organization. We had just barely started looking around when a friendly employee asked if we were looking for anything in particular. When we said "Hopslam", she gave us a split second look that I thought meant she had no idea what we meant, but then said "I may just have what you're looking for...." . They kept the special stuff behind the counter to keep the limits in check. It felt like we were a part of some shady deal, which was a life first for me, and I kind of enjoyed it! We had a nice chat with the worker and were on our merry way shortly after. I noticed mini champagne bottles were $1 cheaper than at jewel (I'm planning to use them for my bridal shower). I was definitely happy with the whole experience and would not hesitate to come back. **TIP** If you're driving west, Sal's is behind a small strip mall that literally has an eye-burning bright white marquis flashing it's advertisements on it. We were almost blinded by the brightness of one of the ads! This seems pretty unsafe, so be careful! read more

I used to love this place. I'd pass four other liquor stores to give them my business. I've gone here for years. But on a recent visit, two of three employees were not wearing masks. I passed close to me sweeping the floor. The other one took my money at checkout. I'd rather they had burning cigarettes in their mouths. Smoke won't kill me. Very good selection of beer. Good variety of local and distant options with many unique beers. My biggest complaint about shopping experience is that the shelves are REALLY tall. I left with a pain in my neck from craning to look up at all the options. And I had to ask for someone to get something down...and they brought a stool. Not ideal, as I'm 5'2". The beer that I purchased on my first visit ended up being beyond skunked. Upon checking the date on the bottle, it turns out that it was bottles nearly a year earlier. Unacceptable for an IPA. I was sad at having no beer, and sad that a store would have it on their shelf, considering it acceptable to sell. I brought the beer back to the store (sans receipt) and they took care of it, appalled that it had happened. It was just a reminder to me to check the dates on anything I buy (a habit I had fallen out of). TL;DR: good selection, store floor favors tall people, competitive pricing, and good customer service. read more

Sal's is without question the cleanest, best organized liquor store I've ever been in, and I was extremely impressed with the customer service we received. Within 15 seconds of entering the store, we were approached by a friendly employee asking if we needed any assistance, something you absolutely do NOT get at the other places. I've been a long time customer of Sal's Beverage World and I was excited to see the expansion to the new Villa Park location. The selection and competitive prices are top notch. The store was immaculately well kept. High ceilings and bright lighting helped to keep an open feel in what amounts to a liquor and beer warehouse to provide a pleasant shopping experience. The staff was extremely friendly and can assist with any questions you could possible have about beer, wine and spirits. A small point but the lines also seemed to move quickly given the number of customers in the store the day I walked through for the first time. I'll definitely be back! read more
