Came in on a Sunday at 3:30pm and it was completely dead. We came in knowing exactly what we wanted to order. The young female working the cash register was EXTREMELY rude. I was pretty quick with my order as I knew exactly what we were getting but after everything I said she cut me off and said the total, motioning for my card. There was 3 of us so I don't know why she continuously cut me off after every 1 item as if we wouldn't be ordering atleast 3 items. Didn't understand the attitude. visited this restaurant yesterday and must say the potstickers were delicious. I enjoyed every last one of them and each bite I enjoyed as well. The restaurant was clean the staff was courteous and professional and I did not find any disappointment with their potstickers. That being said, the shrimp skewers left something to be desired. They weren't very good and I'm not sure what the Restaurant can do to make them better. I do realize that not everyone cooks shrimp the same, but I do know that there's a flavor that is to be had and save and unfortunately these skewers did not meet expectation. I'm gonna go back again and have some more plastic stickers today. Not a bad deal. My husband and I came here for lunch during the freezing rain storm a couple days ago. Practically everything in the area was closed because of the 1/2" of ice that coated the streets. We were surprised to see that Joy Teriyaki was open, so we pulled in. I ordered their short ribs. My husband got the chicken teriyaki. Both were good! Nice flavor and grill marks on the chicken. The short ribs were tender and the teriyaki and chili sauce on the side complimented the meal well. They serve a very simple salad with poppyseed dressing with their entrées. 2 scoops of white rice as well. I typically take pictures of all the food ordered, but I was STARVING so only the hubby's meal got photographed. My only real gripe was the cleanliness of the dining area. The tables were a bit sticky and the pretty lanterns hanging from the ceiling could use a dusting. Outstanding fast Chinese spot! For it being on the edge of a little shopping area it's one of the best Teriyaki spots I've ever eaten at. The cashier is a Latina woman and she makes me feel like a little kid all over again when I order. My register hombre was a younger man too cool for school. The I don't give two shits about this job attitude alone should have been enough of a warning to walk over to Dottys and have a hot dog. The food. Not good. If you've ever had Chinese or Japanese food or food in general; this was not it. Our vegetable tempura had shrimp in it, which I'm allergic too. It was also cooked so hard it was like chicken nuggets yet was still uncooked and raw pancake in the center. The rice was slightly hard like day old white rice that should have been fried with garlic and made delicious. The noodles had a weird orange glaze on them as some faux Americanized yakisoba. The chicken katsu was soggy and also came with the wrong sauce. The chicken curry tasted like water with coriander and a bunch of starch to thicken. The shining star was our 1 dollar gyoza. Wanted something cheap and tasty for lunch, and my sister recommended Joy. I was skeptical, but ended up being pleasantly surprised. She got a cup of miso soup and the chicken teriyaki bowl, we split an order of gyoza, and I had the spicy chicken bowl. All the food was ready very fast, and came out hot and fresh. The gyoza was fried perfectly, and the bowls were very large servings. I liked that there was extra teriyaki and spicy sauce on every table. My caregiver and I came in it was her bday and I was treating her to a birthday lunch. She ordered first and then I spoke to the young lady behind the counter I told her I didn't want any rice just Teriyaki chicken so she said I could have it in a bowl or a plate and I said a bowl was fine and I was charged $6.95 for mine and a total of $21 and some change for both dishes. We were told 10 minutes to wait. So we sat and waited. We got our order and left. I opened my order at home and was mad that I had rice especially when I told the young girl no rice! Its a medical reason of why I can't have rice. And I don't want to end up in the hospital again for it. If she didn't understand me she should of questioned me when I was placing my order! I called the restaurant and it was the young girl that answered the phone I recognized her voice and I asked for the manager she asked for my name and I didn't want to give it and I said I would like to speak to the manager I'm upset about my order. And then she hung up on me! I was shocked. I couldn't believe a restaurant hung up on me. I have never had a restaurant hang up on me before. So I called back and asked if she hung up on me. And I said if you don't help me on the phone then I'll come back to the restaurant and she hung up on me again! I looked shocked at my caregiver and I said your not going to believe this they won't talk to me on the phone so now we got to go back into the restaurant where we could of just handled it over the phone what a hassle! We go in the restaurant and the same young lady tells me that the manager isn't there but I don't want to talk to her. She was the same one that was hanging up on me on the phone. I tried to talk to someone else. The young lady admitted she didn't hear me say no rice but I said my caregiver heard me say no rice. So then she said we can make you another one. I said no I just want my money back and I gave my rice and chicken back. I used to love Joy Teriyaki, but I'm never going to this location again. I went in to order a meal and I wanted to sub noodles for the rice it normally comes with. I checked THREE times with the guy who took my order that I wanted noodles and not rice. I had decided to sit and eat, but I couldn't find a table that was even clean, they were all sticky from past people. Then when the order came out it had rice and not noodles. I said to the guy, since he was the same person who took my order, that I had asked for noodles. He proceeded to argue with me about what I had ordered saying I had asked for rice instead of noodles. Why would I ask for rice instead of noodles on a dish that COMES WITH RICE?! There was no offer to redo anything or get me noodles. He just walked away. I don't understand how this place doesn't have a higher rating! We got 2 chicken plates, one regular and one spicy. The sauce/seasoning they used was so good on both. The portion size of meat was HUGE!! We got pot stickers which were delicious and also miso soup. The portion of miso soup was huge as well, especially for the price. The prices are very fair for what you are getting. I would say its pretty cheap. The service was great on top of it. The inside of the place is average but its a "fast food" type joint. Was initially thinking teriyaki but decided to try the curry chicken. Excellent choice. Just the right mix of chunk chicken potatoes carrots onions and unexpected peas. Sauce is nicely spicy over a bed of white rice. Small house salad on the side. There is free hot tea and water or buy a fountain drink. It's self serve so refill as needed. The restaurant is open airy with a sparse industrial feel. Lots of seating and a steady stream of customers. Look forward to trying the teriyaki next time I'm here. read more

Best teriyaki in portland! Very clean and modern look. Their foods are fabulous! I love their Asian Ranch Dressing. They sell the sauces in squeeze bottles and it is cheaper than glass bottle one. Great food-strange time to mop floors! Stopped in to get a chicken teriyaki bowl and gyoza (yummie) to go at 7pm (they close at 9pm). As I sit to wait, a young gal drags out a mop bucket and mop. The water in the mop bucket is brown/dirty, and smells so strongly of lysol or some other cleaner, it hurts my nose. There are a couple customers eating there who smelled it too. She used no "Wet Sign" warnings and covered the entire vinyl floor with the dirty, smelly water (very slippery) and then put her bucket away. Luckily they called my number and I VERY CAREFULLY walked out. I imagined another person walking in, and slipping on that smelly ice-rink the employee had just created. If I could give the business some advice, wait till closer to closing time when customers are gone to mop the floors. read more
