Their prices are very fair and lower compared to other salons in the area. I always get a gel manicure ($35) and regular pedicure ($23). There's plenty of nail colors and brands to choose from. Just a heads up, they don't do acrylics or very intricate designs. I always call to make my appointment and the owner, Joanna, is very accommodating. She's squeezed me in last minute with no issues. I don't recommend coming as a walk-in because they are usually booked. The best nail techs are Joanna and John. I usually go to John. He's gentle, has good attention to detail, and works efficiently. He doesn't rush and ensures I'm happy with my nail length, shape, and color. As a client of over 5 years, I've had a mix of good and bad experiences with other techs. Some are more experienced than others. My biggest pet peeve is getting my cuticles cut, so once that happens... I lose my trust! I'm not as picky with my toes, so I'm happy with any tech doing my pedicure. The ladies are really sweet and make my feet look ~pretty~ The quality of their nail products are great. No one mentioned it was expired the first time I was there (which I would have been fine paying for my pedicure if someone explained that to me instead writing in a new date so couldn't use it again) Also I'm just not sure why they would give me back a gift certificate that I can't use anymore or never mention that it was expired. 2. What kind of place has a 1 week or 1 month expiration date? (Thinking about it I'm wondering if it the date a typo since it was handwritten because most places around here have a 1 year expiration date when I buy them or am gifted them.) Also my nails were different lengths and the polish I used developed white spots on top (it was a light purple) With so many wonderful places in Montclair, I would definitely consider buying a gift certificate somewhere else with a longer expiration date, a more clear policy, or somewhere that will take the time to explain these dates and policies if you have an issue like I did if you are looking to purchase a gift.

After a day and a half the gel was chipping went back to have fixed. Chipped again immediately. Gels are supposed to last at least 2 weeks and for $50.00 I would expect them to. They were rude and didn't do anything to offer me a repair. I wonder if they water down the actual gel solution because they're cheap. NEVER going back and I would advise to stay away. read more

It was a hot and humid day, and one of the owners, Michelle, offered me a battery operated hand fan when she noticed I was pregnant since maternity really throws off your hormones levels. When I pointed it out, my concern didn't feel like it was taken seriously. On this visit, I was asked to pay and select a tip before my services were completed. I later noticed other customers paying after their appointments, so it felt uncomfortable to be asked to follow a different process. Since my manicure was already dry and I was still receiving my pedicure, I would have been perfectly able to pay at the end. I will say that in the past I've had pedicures from the Latina technician, I forgot her name, and her work is exceptional. She is thorough, professional, and gives one of the best pedicures I've had. Unfortunately, my last few overall experiences at the salon have not matched that level of service.

If you come here for a pedicure, expect at least 35-45 minutes of pampering, including an invigorating salt scrub and a paraffin treatment. Flora and Rocio have been at Tina's for years (as have most of the other pedicurists), and they are thorough yet gentle. My feet never feel or look better than after a Tina's pedicure. The prices are in line with other walk-in salons in the area, yet I find the unhurried service and attention to detail far above any competition.

A dip manicure has previously cost me $45 without extensions or $60 with extensions. This time, I was charged $70 because I requested coffin-shaped nails instead of square. I have never been charged an additional $10 simply for coffin shape. If that is the salon's policy, the price should have been clearly explained before the service began. Instead, I found out when it was time to pay. As far as I'm concerned, the extra $10 she charged to file my nails in a slightly different direction became her tip. I had also scheduled a pedicure. When it was time to begin, the technician Onassis seemed irritated about having to do it and started complaining in Spanish. I don't think Onassis realized that I understood what she was saying. I should have canceled the pedicure immediately, but I genuinely needed my toes done. Onassis then tried to remove my gel polish with regular nail polish remover. When she realized it was gel, she continued complaining to the other employees in Spanish. The massage function on my chair was also broken. I told her it was not working, and she pressed a few buttons. When I explained that it still was not working, she ignored me and continued filing the polish off my toenails. All seven pedicure chairs were empty, and I was the only customer receiving a pedicure. Before my feet had even gone into the water, I asked Onassis to move to a working chair because the back massage is part of the spa pedicure experience I really enjoy. She ignored my request and kept filing. Her attitude made the entire interaction feel uncomfortable and unprofessional. At that point, I pulled my feet away and told her I no longer wanted the pedicure. I paid the inflated $70 charge for my nails and left. I hope the Chi reads this because the salon needs better communication, transparent pricing, and stronger oversight when Chi is away. Customers should not be surprised by unexplained charges, ignored when equipment is broken, or made to feel like an inconvenience for receiving a service they scheduled and are paying for. This was my final visit. I will not be back.
