the movers don't speak english!!! i proved the office with a partial list of what i needed moving. when the mover arrived i wanted him to put some large bins in the truck first because they were in the way, the bins were on the list, when i told him to take the bins he just looked at me. he motioned to see my whole apartment but i wasn't moving most half of my furniture and when i tried to tell him that he just stared at me!! i kept trying to explain but he just kept staring, it took about a half our to straiten it out with his office. he was also late. when he wrote up the bill he said he was ten minutes early and wanted to charge me a whole half hour for twelve minutes. he also forgot two lamps. he took the end tables but left the lamps. he wasn't careful with the furniture. he stood my brand new wood table on end even though there was plenty of room to stand it up. he also threw the cloth i put on it to protect it on a chair instead of on the table i had to put it on myself. he also put a small table on a velvet chair even though there was room to put it on the floor. i am not happy!! read more

I used this company, Joy Moving 2 years ago. They are absolutely the worst company you could ever hire! They took complete advantage of me. This is an Asian company, that barely speaks English. I was fooled by the $120 a hour rate. When they got done prolonging the move and scamming, I owed them nearly $800 for a 2br move! I was getting things moved from my storage space, to a 2br apartment. I should have known something wasn't right, when they went to my new apartment, instead of the public storage that we had arranged. Well, things went down hill from there. This company sent 2 very thin guys 120 pound each, at 5'2. They kept trying to do things that were not on my order, like wrapping things up, or not seeing a knob. Anything to rake up the bill. It got so bad, I'm a middle age woman. I start helping them move things to rush up the completion. The biggest disappointment was, they could not fit my couch through the doors of my new apartment. Keep in mind, they were 5'2, 120 each. They put dents in the wall and all. They could not lift the couch. My hand on the Bible!!! After struggling with this couch for 1 hour, (which they did not deduct the hour off my time), also then calling back to the office. I had no idea what they were discussing, because of the language barrier. Keep in mind, 2 years ago was the height of Covid. One of the moving guys who was older, like 45-50 repeatedly kept using my restroom in my new apartment. I put my puppy dog in the restroom to discourage using it. He didn't care. When I told him no, he still walked inside and left urine stains on the rim of the toilet. The reason I waited 2 years to leave a review. Well I forgot about it, and I didn't want to remember it. I had to throw away a practically new couch. Also my bill was like $800 cash! Now that I'm looking for a mover yet again, Guess who's trying to get my business for $120 a hour... Don't fall for it. Super efficient, friendly and beyond expectations!! I have a large sofa that when we moved in, the furniture delivery guy had to uninstall the front door to get it in. I was so worried that we won't be able to move it out. But with Joy Moving, it seemed super easy and fast, they managed to move it out real quick without uninstalling anything. There are a few other heavy furnitures that we expected to need to be disassembled, but they managed to move them all out assembled, which saved a lot of time. When arriving at our new place, they helped moved a few heavy items upstairs to 3rd floor. I know it's a lot of stairs and I honestly was okay if they felt uncomfortable going to the top floor (because this is what a lot of furniture delivery guys had said), but they happily did it. Also, they offer a competitive price, compared to those who charge you based on # of wrappers, # of stairs, etc.. most importantly, they're super fast. They even drove to our new place earlier then we did and were waiting for us I feel So lucky to have found Joy moving, would use them again/recommend to anyone. read more

My husband commented that looking at how they load/unload stuffs, getting heavy things upstairs with turns is like magic. They protected the entryway like pro! This is our first time hiring a mover ... it was a bit nervous as we've never done it before. BUT Joy Moving is really professional. They communicate very well since the beginning to the end. There's no HIDDEN COST at all. They were done with our stuff within 2 hours( short distance moving) and they really know what they're doing. (My husband tried to help but they kind of push him away I mean .. in a nice way). No walls were scratched. Movers are super nice and polite. The 2 movers did a good job on my small move. Their first language is Chinese and they don't communicate easily in English. But when one of them pulled up the Google street view of the destination I could explain to him the process of how to summon reception, get through security gate and drive to loading dock. When I got initial confirmation link to my move order I had to correct the exact street address. Even when writing clearly by text to the dispatcher some details get lost and it took me a little effort to ensure they understood everything needed where to park & load on both ends of the in-city move. They charge for the empty truck driving to and from their Renton, WA base so don't use this company if you are not in Renton or very near it. Parent company is a major Chinese logistics company. The two moving men I met were polite and conscientious. They offered to remove their shoes before entering my house. I only watched them on the loading portion of the move. They seemed efficient on loading. I was surprised they look over 2 hours to move only one room full of small furniture across town. With full understanding of both starting & ending locations, it should have been completed easily within 2 hours. Perhaps with small language barrier it ended up being 2.5 hours at $110/hour for two men with one truck. Then extra $55 fee for driving in empty truck to job site. So, again, don't choose this company if not near their Renton, WA 98055 headquarters. They also want cash or Venmo payment instead of credit card. This was inconvenient to have to get hundreds of dollars in cash to pay the company charge and not just tips. I certainly understand companies have to pay about 4% fees to accept credit cards. Requiring cash only just passes the inconvenience to the customer. They company was very accommodating when I requested a shift of start time for the move. Everyone is polite and communication is mainly by text and if clarification is needed in phone call to dispatcher. read more

This review will be broken up into professionalism, cost (caution....see below...and noted in another reviewer as well), and as always, my final thoughts. My biggest fear was that I found them on Craigslist, and they were near the lowest price, but I hired them. Professionalism: I had to change the date of the move, because of recent snow storms. Changing the date and time was no problem. They showed up on time and worked non-stop. The two worked hard and fast. They didn't chat, or b.s., they just worked, and worked hard. They took apart the sofa and wrapped it in protective plastic, and wrapped the bed as well. They stacked and moved multiple boxes with each trip. When I got to my new apartment, they unloaded everything quickly. They even helped me put my large screen tv back together. They put the bed, the sofa, and the tv stand where I wanted. They hustled. Pricing: This is where they lost a star. It was $90/HR and 1/2 hr for travel time ($45). They billed from the moment they arrived until they finished. It was 2hrs and 11 minutes. Because it was over 10 minutes, they charged an extra 1/2 hr. They also pushed a "tip". Final thought: I would hire them again without a second thought. My fear was their pricing and what I would get for the money. They put that fear to bed from moment one. They worked with me when I had to change the move date because of the snow storm, showed up on time and hustled. That extra 1/2 hr charge annoyed me, and they should have been more upfront on their charges, but I actually understand. Hire them, you'll be impressed. read more

I used joy moving company to move from one house to another nearby. They charge an hourly rate but they work hard and are super efficient. 3 movers were able to load and unload in under 5 hours. All the furniture was wrapped nicely and nothing got damaged. They unassembled by bed and put it back together in the new house. Affordable, quick, and professional. I didn't have a lot of items for moving from a studio to a one bedroom apartment, but I had a LOT of fragile items. I packed the best I could, but I knew if my boxes were mishandled, something would break. As a student on a budget, Joy Movers was the best bet. $90 for two men and a truck, with only 1/2 hour charge for them to drive to you/drive back (which not all companies do, watch out!) Besides the pricing, they were very professional. Not the friendliest of bunch, but very straight-to-the-point. They want to move you as quickly as they can. I felt like my time was respected and valued. While the men were unloading, I opened my boxes marked fragile to see if anything broke. NOTHING broke!!! I was super excited and happy about this. Even this gigantic, pain-in-the-ass mirror I have didn't even crack. My move was only 2 hours minimum, thanks to moving on a week day. I hope to not have to move sometime soon, but I will use Joy Moving if I have to! read more

They showed up early. They worked every minute of their time no breaks, they worked on what I wanted them to work on and they were done so fast I couldn't of asked for more. And I should note that they were loving me out of the third floor of an apartment that was a very tight and narrow stairwell and a closed off hallway so they they didn't have much room and NOTHING was damaged. Wow! I have never seen movers work so quickly. We were incredibly impressed with Joy Moving. We decided to wait to paint until after movers bc you normally get a couple dings in the wall. Joy was quick while also making sure the furniture didn't touch our walls once. The only setback was communication so we ended up having boxes piled in the garage since they said "kitchen" & living room, and we honestly just wanted to be done as quickly as possible. I'm sure a color system would work. I was surprised by their memory though so perhaps they could have placed boxes where they needed to be given the opportunity. Terrible... First of all, we booked 2 hrs starting from noon. They called at 9:50am and said they'll be in our old apt in 40min (i.e., 10:30am). We had to rush back to our old apt. Our moving went a bit over 2 hrs (i.e., 2 hrs and 12 minutes). We were charged for 3 hrs = (2 hrs + 0.5 hour for 12min and 0.5 hr for their travel). 0.5 hr travel was agreed upon, but 12 minutes overtime for 45 dollars? That's not in any communication nor their website that I can find. During moving, they stacked everything in the hallway, making it very difficult for our neighbors to pass-by and we had to apologize to our neighbors. They don't have much security. We were asked to stand by their truck to prevent theft, and police. One of the movers was very careless and made a lot of uncomfortable comments during moving. read more

We had PODS container to unload and they were flexible with the schedule. Their two guys came in and laid out some carpet to protect the floor. They went to work fast. We just needed to direct them (though we had boxes color labelled with signs on doors). They did not speak English and that only became an issue when we tried to explain to them what needed to be done to assemble a bed; they figured it out later. I scheduled a 1pm appointment with them a week before the move. I even called them to make sure and they gladly promised to see me at 1pm. However, the night before the move, they called me up and told me that they just accepted another session in the morning and will only reach my place sometime between 1-4pm. But this will jeopardize my plan because I have scheduled a move-out inspection session with my property manager at 4pm (I had even applied for time off that day just for them). I insisted that they reach my place at 1pm the next day but they just made empty promises and hung up the phone. The next day, they really reached my place at 4pm. I had no choice but to push back my move out inspection to 5pm and fortunately my property manager was flexible enough to accommodate that on short notice. I don't have much stuff, so moving things into the truck took less than an hour. However, moving stuff out of the truck to my new apartment took forever. The 2 movers seem to be idling most of the time as they wait on one another. I almost get the feeling that they are trying to prolong the moving session because I am getting billed by the hour. The move ended up taking 2 hours 15 minutes but I got billed for 3 hours. When I asked them to help me with the couch and bed frame reassembly work for the next 45 minutes, they refused. They even had the audacity to demand more tips although I didn't really enjoy their service (but I did offer them generous tips in the end, semi-coerced). I hired 2 movers from this company to help me move apartments. They were extremely unprofessional. They left several of my packages unattended while they moved their truck and one of them was stolen. They were rude and did not seem sorry even when I communicated that very valuable items were stolen. The manager I talked to was also rude and did not offer anything for the carelessness of the movers. In the fine print of the contract you sign they are only responsible for 60 cents a pound of any lost items. They also scratched up my dining table and chairs in the move.
