I used this company for a recent local move after a friend had a great experience with them. Scheduling was easy, and they were very responsive leading up to the move. My move was scheduled for a 1-3pm arrival window, but the movers ultimately did not arrive until around 6:40pm. I understand that afternoon moves can run late due to earlier jobs taking longer than expected, but I was disappointed that I had to repeatedly reach out myself throughout the afternoon and evening to get updated ETAs. The arrival time kept shifting later, which made the day fairly stressful and difficult to plan around. The delay also effectively consumed the entire day waiting for updates. If I had known earlier in the day that the move would be pushed so late into the evening, I would have adjusted my plans significantly and started moving some smaller items myself rather than spending the day waiting for revised ETAs. Once the movers arrived, the actual move itself went smoothly. They were professional, handled my belongings carefully, and everything arrived safely without damage. Communication during the move was somewhat limited because they spoke very little English, but we were able to manage using Google Translate. The move took about 4 hours total, finishing around 11pm, which was much later than I expected for a relatively short move with one flight of stairs at each location and about a 10-minute drive between apartments. Most of my items were already packed and ready to go. Because the move ran so late into the evening, I was also concerned that the noise from the moving carts and truck would disturb my new neighbors. The company did provide a discounted hourly rate because of the delay, which I appreciated, although the discount felt fairly limited given the length of the delay and the lack of proactive communication throughout the day. Overall, I think the movers themselves did a good job, but the significant delay and communication issues made the experience more frustrating than expected. read more

Moves are stressful. Joy Moving made the entire process stress free on the day of our move. They took apart furniture as needed and rebuilt it in our new home. That were gentle with all of our items, no scratches and nothing broke. They moved very quickly and were very polite through the entire process. Movers were quick and thorough. Wrapped everything up so nothing was damaged. Recommend hiring 3 movers at a time for max speed and safety (safety of belongings and the movers!) Price was very reasonable. We tipped 10%. Usually there is one bilingual lead mover, and the rest speak just Mandarin Chinese. They come in and check the space, as where everything goes, then start moving things. Start time for morning session is pretty set, but afternoon session can be early or late depending on morning session. We were lucky so originally we were scheduled for 3pm but they were able to come at 1pm. They were able to pick up from two locations for us, then drop at 1 location. They disassembled and reassembled some large items for us (desk, bed). The fee is by hour so you can ask them to do more or less depending on your budget (you could reassemble things yourself to save money/time). I've officially reached the age where I can no longer bribe my friends with pizza to help me move. A coworker recommended Joy Moving, and I was able to get a quote through Yelp in under 10 minutes. Communication from their customer service team was prompt, clear, and helpful. Rates: * $110/hr for 2 movers + truck * $150/hr for 3 movers + truck There's a 2-hour minimum, and you're charged in 30-minute increments after that. Add $10/hr for weekends. There's also an extra 30 minutes added for travel time (which is pretty standard). What's included: * Loading/unloading, packing/unpacking, assembly/disassembly (we disassembled the bed ourselves, but they came prepared with tools) * No extra charge for stairs * Supplies: moving blankets, shrink wrap, tape, dollies, hand trucks, and tools * 4 wardrobe boxes (a huge help--I didn't have to pack any hanging clothes, just tossed them in) * 10 reusable plastic bins (I used them for kitchen stuff and random loose items) Note: They accept cash or Zelle only--no cards. I paid in cash. Our move took around 5.5 hours, mostly because I procrastinated packing. Despite that, the movers were calm, kind, and extremely efficient. They relaxed a little once they found out I speak Chinese, and we had a great rapport throughout. They were professional, careful, and respectful--they even removed their shoes before stepping onto the carpet in my new place without me having to ask. They pack loose items and use plastic wraps on everything so the furniture does not get damaged. Very happy with my moving experience! I requested to move at 9 am and they showed up 2 minutes before 9, which I really appreciated because I had to pick up kids in the afternoon so I had limited time. The movers were very efficient and they took care of my furniture. I had a massive dresser and they found a way to carry it upstairs and fit through the hallway for me. I was so thankful. The total move took about 6 hours from wrapping the furniture, loading them, and unloading them. There was minimal mess afterwards too. Very smooth experience and their price was competitive too. The load was secure and they took direction well despite a bit of a language barrier. I had some very awkward and heavy pieces upstairs and the two man crew (that included Jason) managed very efficiently. We had a good experience with moving a piano from first floor in one home to the first floor in another home. Britney was very communicative and it was convenient to be able to respond over text because the chaos of my day sometimes doesn't allow for a phone call. I was given a two hour window when the movers would arrive at the loading location and they came in that window. My only feedback for improvement is that for the movers' arrival, I was told I would receive a call from the movers 30 minutes ahead of time but instead I received a text (which I missed) and later on, a call about ten minutes before arrival. This was not enough time to get to the loading location but thankfully the original owner of the piano stepped in for me.
