Joy luck is hands down one of my newest favorite place to visit. I have brought friends here about a dozen times now and each time the results have been the same... AWESOME! The food is fresh and incredibly flavorful, and ignore the people complaining about the service on here, it is amazing. They are attentive but not too much, accurate on wait times and incredibly efficient. With all the labor shortages these days, we were very surprised how fast our food arrives (every single visit), and how fresh it tastes each time and food is fairly priced. *Also* Their take out is very very good. Tastes just as fresh as if you were at the restaurant, which is hard to say about 80% of restaurants these days. Nothing but great things to say about Joy Luck, shoutout to "Han" for His great service and attention to quality. Was able dine-in Friday night and had honestly not eaten here in a couple years so we wanted to give it a shot. We honestly were not overly impressed years back....things have changed. Food-Had sesame and mushroom beef. Always a safe bet and it was very tasty. They serve it in a plastic container which seems logical with COVID. It was large portion and came out very quickly. Service-The real game changer. Aside from the fact that everyone had a mask and gloves, everyone was AMAZING. Our server was quick and prompt. Best Vegan Friendly Chinese Restaurant in Utah. The owner has informed me that he has dedicated one of his 3 fryers to vegan foods, separate Woks and bowls for vegan food, and has committed to treating vegan food the way he treats other food allergens like peanut etc. Best of all, there's no fake meat here. Our favorites are the Eggplant Tofu, Mandarin Flat Noodles with Tofu, Kung Pao Tofu, etc. 90% of the dishes can be made vegan, just ask for the Vegan version of the dish. Its really probably our favorite Chinese restaurant in Utah, and I lived in Guangzhou for 12 years, home to Cantonese food and the best food in the world, and my wife is born and raised in Guangzhou. Plus the lunch special is a great deal (GF options for sides include Chinese edamame, steamed veggies, and ham fried rice.) *** Highlights (all can be made GF): Egg Drop Soup (need I say more?) Tangerine Chicken. WOW. I'm not a big fan of orange chicken generally, but this tangerine chicken is not that, and it is GOOD. It's lightly sweet and has just a bit of spiciness. It was the favorite on both occasions. Tied for fave: Braised Bean Curd! Great complex flavor, slightly spicy, awesome tofu texture, delicious veggies; every bite was juicy and rich. Only on the dinner menu, sadly. Spouse's tie for best: Mongolian Beef. It's has nothing to do with Mongolia, but it's delicious. Spicy and salty sauce. The velveted beef was fantastic. Sibling's fave: Chinese Curry. Spouse and I loved this one, too. We got it with shrimp, but it would be good with any protein. It's quite spicy! I've had a lot of curries and loved trying this Chinese version. It was more similar to Japanese curry than Indian curry, but still very much its own thing. Would repeat. Mother's favorite: Strawberry chicken. Battered and fried chicken, just like in the tangerine chicken. Zero spice. The sauce is like a thin strawberry jelly, with cooked strawberries in it. If that's your style, you'll love it. I like strawberries, but this missed the mark for me. Too sweet, not enough other flavors. Dad's favorite: Asparagus Pork in Black Bean Sauce. Yummy! Everything nicely cooked. Fairly American-taste-buds-friendly for the somewhat less-adventurous. ** Honorable mention: Singapore Noodles. Great comfort food. Really tasty. * Misses: The Hot & Sour Soup (usually a favorite dish of mine) is not great here. I'm not sure why, but it tasted like it was missing something. The Fried Rice also leaves something to be desired. The Bok Choy and garlic was slightly under-seasoned and overcooked, but it did make good cold leftovers the next day, with a little soy sauce added. I can't wait to try more of menu at Joy Luck. First time here. They were closing in 15 min, so I don't know how much of that affects my rating. I ordered, chicken fried rice, chicken and broccoli, forgot the type of noodles with beef and cheese wontons. The chicken fried rice was not bad, except the chicken was dry. It was really the only thing I enjoyed. The chicken and broccoli is not what I expected (see picture). Maybe that is is their recipe, but I didn't like the pale white chicken mix with broccoli. No sauce just a ginger taste to it. Needless to say I didn't eat it. The noodles, were not my favorite. The beef was better than the chicken. I didn't eat the noodles. Not your normal quality Chinese food. Almost like it is handmade, like Grandma Chan made it. Not the little pieces of chicken surrounded by an inch-thick layer of breading, covered in sauce. Like how every other place orders it out of the box from a supply warehouse. Even their fried rice, pot stickers, and eggrolls are on another level. Not only does it taste good but your stomach doesn't feel like a war zone after you eat it. Once you order from here you won't order from any other Chinese food joint ever again. Excellent food, I have never been disappointed with this resturant. I have Celiac Disease and Joy Luck has a huge menu of gluten free, (they can make most items gluten free). My favorites are the lettuce wraps, which you can eat as a meal or share as an appetizer. The Mongolian Beef is super yummy. But yesterday I tried a new entree I've never tried, "Walnut Shrimp Large prawns in a honey glazed sauce over a bed of broccoli topped with sweetened walnuts", it is my most favorite entree here. The prawns were very big and even though they were in a sauce, they were still crispy. The sauce was sweet and creamy with the broccoli rounding out the flavor, put it over rice and it's just good. read more

Was driving by here a couple of nights ago and decided that I would stop by. After reading their amazing reviews on Yelp I went to a late lunch on Tuesday and enjoyed myself. I was immediately taken in by the low lights, beautiful and bright fish tank, and the relaxing atmosphere. I was immediately sat down and given a lunch menu that had a variety of items from orange chicken, mixed vegetables, and chicken dishes. Everything sounded so yummy, but I decided to get their snow peas with added chicken. The snow peas dish came with a mix of cucumbers, mushrooms, and carrots. To start I got their creamy ham and veggie soup. It was so warm and had a nice flavor. With my main dish I got a side of their cheese puffs that were lightly battered and fried. The chicken and vegetables were amazing--such a great and light flavor. And the white sauce that the vegetables were mixed with were so delicious! Only one negative was it was really salty. I think that there could've been a lot less salt and still tasted just as great! The service was on point as well with the server frequently checking on me and making me feel at home. I was able to stay and work on some things after lunch was technically over and I did not feel rushed. Will be back!! read more

WOW, I was blown away by the quality of this restaurant. First off, I have never experienced customer service as attentive as I did at Joy Luck. My husband and I came in for takeout, and we were seated and were provided drinks while we waited. Daisy took the time to explain the menu; she answered all the questions we had. I am Gluten-Free, so she explained all the gluten-free options available. She even went as far as to circle the GF items on the menu that she let me take home to know what to order for next time. She checked in on us while we were waiting for our TAKE OUT food to come. I was blown away at how attentive she was, lol. Not to mention our food was incredible. It came out warm and fresh and very flavorful. I haven't had Chinese food since I cut out gluten, and dang, I missed it. Joy Luck is incredible! And Daisy deserves a raise!!! read more

They can make most entrees here gluten-free, in fact, many entrees are already prepared gluten-free. My husband's favorite is the tangerine chicken, and my absolute favorite is the pineapple chicken. The pineapple chicken is delivered in pineapple shell - highly recommend if you're a pineapple lover! Oddly enough, the location up north does not prepare the pineapple chicken the same way, though (not in a shell, different veggies) but it's still delicious! If you have celiac sprue or a family member who is gluten-free, I highly recommend Joy Luck. Unlike some Chinese restaurants, my husband has never been sick after eating here.
