Phoebe was fantastic! I've been coming to Journelle's Soho location for years and this was my first time at Union Square and the customer service is just as amazing. I love this place so much. They're not doing measurements with a measuring tape yet (and the champagne and chocolate Fridays aren't back yet), but they know by sight your size and can confirm it by trying on a few different pieces. You get your own fitting room, explain what you're looking for, and they bring you as many pieces in as many styles and colors and sizes as you need. And girl are they knowledgeable and passionate about bras; they know what brands run large, which ones are hand stitched, etc. Their bras are beautiful and come in a range of styles and sizes. She was rude , didn't let me talk or ask because apparently she knows how to read minds so she was repeatedly talking over me about what she thought I was going to say. Such know it all. I bought several bras online at Journelle and had to return two because they were too big. No big deal, was happy with the quality otherwise. However my package did not come with a UPS return mail slip as indicated on the website. Also no big deal, I sent their customer service an email and received one quickly and mailed back my return. Here's where it gets weird: weeks after I sent the return back I get an email saying they will refuse to process my return unless I respond to this email saying why I'm returning my unworn bras. Ok... I respond to the email immediately saying they were too big. Another week goes by. I get ANOTHER email saying that they will offer me $20 store credit for an exchange. When I tried to process my original return exchange was not an option at all and since I needed to buy a new size and the site suggested I just start a brand new order. I am happy to take the store credit, but I still need my return processed! This is very shady consumer behavior. read more

I am so happy I decided to walk into this lovely establishment. First off I am crazy about lingerie and my bf loves it on me and honestly every woman should buy something that makes them feel sexy and confident. The selection of lingerie at this store is perfect. I got some lovely things. The lingerie is great quality, very girly, and classy. Not like VS! Yuck! Sales Associate, Keilis Perdome was/is super professional and KIND! She helped me with picking out styles I didnt even see. They offer chocolates and water as your trying on items or waiting. The dressing rooms are wonderfully lit and inside they have a robe so you can use. Ps. They don't smell either. It's not often that I write a bad review, but probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I had a $50 giftcard that I received as a gift several years ago that I recently found. I went online and made a purchase using the giftcard. It showed at checkout that the $50 gift card was applied and my total was .06 which I put on my CC. After checking out I later received the receipt via email which showed $50.06 was actually applied to my CC. I contacted support and worked with Rachel. She confirmed that she saw the gift card purchased for me for $50, but because it was over 5 years old it wasn't valid, even though it showed it was applied to my total!! I explained that the only reason I made the purchase was to use my gift card and so I wanted to return the item, and she said no returns, wouldn't make an exception for me. They charged me $50 for a purchase I didn't approve on my CC!! Having to work w/ my bank to dispute the charge. 1st and last time I will EVER do business here! read more

This store is an hidden gem in union square! Who can turn down champagne while shopping. The store is quite small however, everything is neat, clean and in place. It does not feel overwhelming at all. They have all the sizes available especial my extra small! It is so hard for someone like me who is very petite to purchase lingerie. It never fits properly!!!! Service was great, I was offered a lot of assistants and they were very detailed with all their response. If you've been to this shop or its old location pre-Covid, don't bother going back. I was impressed with their level of service in the past. I made an appointment, had a fitting and received recommendations for bras and which ones fit best. I was happy with all the bras I purchased. I recommended this shop to friends. I called today to make an appointment and was told to just come in. I was told on the phone that while the staff does not do physical measurements now, they have a new very accurate process. When I arrived, the salesperson acted treated me like I was an annoyance for being there and tried her best to make me feel invisible and unwanted. She simply looked at me, handed me a bra, told me to go to the fitting room (without telling me where, I had to ask). She gave me a handful of bras to try on, never came back to check how they fit or what I liked. I asked myself why I was even there if no one was going to help me. I decided to leave. When I brought the bras out to give to the salesperson, I indicated that I needed more help like I'd had in the past. The salesperson was pretty dismissive, told me to come on Monday-Friday when they were less busy. There were only 1-2 other shoppers there when I went. Also, I'd called ahead to make an appointment so they'd know I was coming and could help me. They told me to come but then treated me horribly. I'm not sure why. I was clearly coming to make a purchase. They probably only want to help you if you are white, beautiful and look like you have lots of money. Their customer service has clearly deteriorated over the past few years. Don't bother with this place. You're just as likely to find the same result by ordering online and hoping they fit. I had a lovely experience. The sales associate listened to me and tried (and succeeded) to find something that was comfortable and pretty. I only wish I had had the sense to go there earlier. I tried on a number of products and Avery (I think) was calm, patient and kind. It was great. I'd like to move into the dressing room permanently. And the mirrors are nice. This was an amazing case of customer service. She was nice, not pushy, and didn't force me to buy anything, ever. I ended up putting a bunch of bras on hold to come back and get later on (hence, my 2nd visit). I left the store feeling like a million bucks. 2nd visit: 2 stars - nobody helped me. I have no idea what the names of these people were because they were too busy minding their own business or tending to other customers. Recently visited the union square location, I'm not a big lingerie person and had not ever been measured it's not something you do let's be honest but I thought it was time (had a baby last year, and about to go back to work). From the second I walked in I clicked with the sales associate Nicole, small brunette Irish girl. She came directly to me and asked if I was ok, I explained my situation and she brought me into a fitting room and measured me. She got my size on point (34c, I had been wearing 38 band!!). I explained I did not have much money to spend, and she was so lovely, she did not make me feel bad like a lot of other places in manhattan when you say you're on a budget, she was so understanding and even asked me about my job and how I was getting on as a mother (it felt really nice) she pulled me some options in my price point and I left with one nude and one black. I wish bras were staple goods because I would happily go back to this location to shop with this girl all the time, amazing service that left me feeling amazing, bras are holding up really well too. People are nice enough, and I've bought there before, both in flatiron and soho, but the service has really declined. The last time I was in whoever was in charge kept putting the woman helping me on the register. So I was left waiting after each time she brought bras, just in the dressing room, naked, boobs hanging like there's no curfew. It was frustrating. 2 out of my 5 visits have been 5 stars but the other 3 I've been either ignored, spoken down to and then ignored again. In between the 3, I have had the best experience of getting measured, provided an assortment of price points, colors and treated well. They were the best of the best at those times. However, this last visit was terrible. Earlier I had spoken to very sweet associate about ordering online through the store as they were sold out of the bra I was interested in. Upon arriving, I did not get acknowledged. Finally an associate asks me if I need a fitting although I have no product in my hand. I speak to her about the associate I had spoken to prior and she looks perplexed by my request. She walks away and then from across the room, informs me she need to help another client first. She walks away, doesn't return for quite some time. She doesn't acknowledge me when she returns and at that point I was out of patience and told her not to worry about it and left. I walked in, reading the reviews and knowing that Bras would be expensive, since it is something that you need, I was willing to spend the money for the quality I would supposedly be getting. I walked in here one day during lunch and I was looking around (no one asked me if I wanted help), I got a few bras down myself in my size and I walked over the the attendant and asked her to try it on. Her words, verbatim " You can only try them on if you are interested in buying a bra, are you buying a bra today?" I was in shock. How would I know if I found something I wanted to buy when a. I had no help in picking something out and b. you're getting pissy with me because I want to use the fitting room? I said to her ' I was wanting to buy a bra, but not anymore. Thanks for all of your help", I also made sure she caught the eye roll as I walked away. I feel like if I'm going to spend $50+ on a bra, then the service should be at the very least passable. I hate to say I felt like they were stereotyping me but I truly feel like they were. I just moved to NYC from DC and I was concerned it would take me a while to find a lingerie shop I loved up here. Boy was I wrong. I did a quick Yelp search for lingerie shops near my office and Journelle popped up. I was a little concerned by some of the reviews saying sales associates weren't helpful or were snooty. But I am very glad I gave it a shot. I walked in and looked around for a few minutes before Natalya approached me and asked if I needed help. From that moment on, Journelle continued to blow me away. Natalya was unbelievably helpful without being pushy and honestly, just plain nice. The dressing rooms (as so many have mentioned) are sumptuous and quite frankly, the prices are better here than at my go-to lingerie in DC. Quality, well made underpinnings that you can't help but just drool over. Delicate lace, sleek satins.. they have everything you need to make you feel your sexiest and not to mention fit you like it's supposed to. A good bra will do amazing things like improve your posture, or will appear seamless under any outfit. I always come here spending more than I want to. Once you go for sophisticated designer lingerie, it's hard to go back. Even if it's just for a few key pieces. The dressing rooms are so lush and roomy. The entire dressing room is almost as big as my Manhattan apt, if not bigger. Minus one star though for not having a larger band selection for tiny women like me with small rib cages. I'm quite petite (34AA - eek!) so I have a difficult time finding properly fitted bras. I usually have luck with Lula Lu's or other petite brands but I'm always on the lookout for physical shops so I can try on bras. I went to Journelle and asked them directly if they had 34AA. The saleswoman told me no but then tried to sell me on 30A bras - really *pushing* the sale even after I told her I have already been properly measured. If you do your research, the main thing about bras is to make sure they properly fit and a common mistake is upping or lowering the band size to accommodate a different cup size. I really didn't expect a store that specialized in bras to have a saleswoman who would try this tactic to make a sale. I always look for stores that have your best interest in heart or at least are knowledgeable about what they sell. This store has pretty bras and if you know the brand and size you want, perhaps this might be the store for you. But for the prices they are charging and the location they are in, they should offer better service and knowledge otherwise you are better off shopping online. The other thing is that the saleswoman made me feel truly low for being such a petite size. :( No, I would not recommend this shop. Did you know about 80% of women out there are wearing the wrong bra size?! I was one of them until recently. I've been needing to purchase new bras as the ones I were wearing were really ill fitting and uncomfortable plus they did nothing for my girls. I decided that before I wasted money on new bras, I wanted to get fitted. I've figured for quite sometime that I was wearing the wrong size and thought now is good time as any to just go. So I called ahead to see if I'd be able to come in and was told absolutely. I did not waste any money but made a good investment!These ladies are extremely professional and just by looking at you makes a pretty good guess at what you should be. They ask you a few simple questions before taking you into a room where they ask if you'd like water and chocolates before going back outside to bring in a bra in which they'll get your actual measurements and size. I'm a full breasted girl and always thought I was a 38 wearing a C cup. Well let me tell you I was shocked when I found out I was only a 34 and a DD!! Due to European sizing and sister sizing I'm a 34E (European) or DD or a 36D depending on the bra. I had no idea that was a thing until they explained it all to me. Michelle who was helping then brought in a bunch of bras for me to try on. I would have never ever looked at these types of bras before. They're so girly and lacey, so not me but when I tried them on, my girls looked so good and the bras were extremely comfortable and best of all, I felt sexy. It gave me such a boost that I changed into one right away. I walked out with 5 new bras. I met up with my honey afterwards and he noticed the difference immediately and has even made a few comments since I've gone shopping. Ladies, if you feel like you're wearing the wrong size and want to get fitted or just looking to get new bras, come here. I am so disappointed to even have to write this review because Journelle had such potential to be my new one-stop shop for all things lingerie. Unfortunately, the service (at the holidays! during a recession!) was some of the least helpful I've ever received... I ordered $90 worth of merchandise from the store's online site. The items arrived in a white envelope with such a thick layer of that impossible-to-get-off clear packing tape that the only option was to cut the package. I carefully wielded my scissors to make the slightest incision at the top of the envelope (assuming the items I ordered would be packed in something else inside so I would know immediately if my scissors hit something). However, my worst fears came true when I had cut no more than an inch and looked in to realize that I had cut the bra. Friends told me to make up a story and say the merchandise arrived that way, but I figured honesty to be the best policy here. After all, I wouldn't have had to cut the package if there had been any other way to open it. I went to the store and showed them the package, explained the situation and waited while the sales girl went to ask what could be done. She returned only to say that if I wanted to purchase the same bra, they could give me 10 percent off the new one. Not only was I S.O.L. on the initial $55 but they suggested I could spend another $45 to get the same thing??? I was floored. And she clearly didn't have the authority to make this decision herself, yet didn't bring a manager to speak with me. I asked again if that was really all they could do? After all, I would have been a repeat customer had they suggested ANYTHING to indicate they wanted my business. Unfortunately the suggestion that I spend more money in their store and get nothing back for the damaged item was not sufficient. The best part of the whole exchange here? When she smugly looked at me and said, "I mean, we feel bad, but..." to which I responded, laughing, "yeah, but not that bad, right?" She just shrugged her shoulders. My suggestion? Hit a department store. They have the same merchandise and are more than willing to help you in an effort to sustain your business. read more

Anyone who knows me knows that I am slightly... okay a lot obsessed with my breasts. There is nothing more annoying than an ill-fitting bra that makes your boobs sag and gives you back fat. So when I realised that I would need a few more beautiful pieces to add to my extensive lingerie collection, I headed over to Journelle, a recommendation from a friend who bought all her hanky panky underwear from there. (Trust me, most comfortable underwear you'll ever wear.) Journelle, with its cream coloured walls, purple paneling and hardwood decor is like the inside of a jewelery box. The delicate garments are displayed on the walls and hung on dainty little hangers. And with a variety of sizes and designs, there is definitely something for everyone. The staff at Journelle are not pushy and don't approach you unless you look completely and utterly lost. Some people don't like that but it suits my shopping style just fine. If you need help, just ask and they will helpfully choose some flattering options and lead you to the back where the beautiful changing rooms (complete with bottled Evian water, mini chocolates and fluffy robe) await you. I've dragged a vast majority of my girlfriends there and if you ever need anything, for your man or more importantly for yourself, Journelle is the place to go. Slightly pricey yes but with the self esteem boost you'll get from having a great rack, sure beats paying a psychiatrist. An added bonus is the adorable packaging. They wrap your lingerie individually in brown paper with their signature white floral print, tie it with a big purple bow and put it in a lovely little purple bag. Loves it! read more

The very polite bra fitter seemed to be new and timid. I appreciated her knocking and asking before entering my fitting room, but it got old after trying on eight bras. Especially after I told her to just come back in with the next bra. I also felt that her trying to measure me in a bra with more padding wouldn't provide an accurate measurement, but she said that wasn't the case. She then found out that it was the case when she brought back a bra that had my lady lumps swimming around in a sea of loose fabric. I did purchase two items, but I felt as though they weren't the absolute best options and I felt that I was being steered to a certain price point. I will admit that the girls definitely stand at attention in these new bras, though. Still, I had a better experience here years ago. It seemed like an off-day at Journelle. Customer service was really great! I forgot the name of the person who measured me but she asked me what i was looking for style wise. She kept bringing in different suggestions and kept checking in on me to see how i was doing and if the fit was right and helped me adjust. They even offered my boyfriend water while he waited patiently for me in the front. Only reason I gave it 3stars was because they were limited for bras in my cup size (I have a huge cup size). She and her other co worker did give me suggestions of stores that might have better variety. She helped me out so much that i regret taking a chance and going to another bra store that was nearby (had the worst customer service).
