Scheduling was pretty easy. I was able to schedule a new patient exam appointment online within a week timeframe. Once booked you receive a confirmation via email, and will most likely receive a confirmation call the day before as well. The dental office is located in a small plaza with plenty of lot parking spaces. I was welcomed with a friendly greeting and given a few new patient forms to be filled out. The entire office is friendly and knowledgeable. Appreciated the communication from everyone - front desk receptionists, the X-ray tech, Dr. Sharma, and the dental hygienist. Yup - I lucked out! They happened to have an opening for a cleaning so I was able to get both my exam and cleaning performed on the same day. Glad to have found a great, new dental office!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this dental office…read more I originally went in for a routine checkup and cleaning and was told that my teeth looked good, but that one of my crowns would eventually need to be replaced. Because I am a teacher and school was about to start, I decided to have the crown replaced during my vacation rather than risk having a problem later. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward procedure turned into weeks of pain and multiple visits. After the crown was placed, I was in significant pain, was biting the inside of my cheek, and noticed that the crown did not seem properly aligned with my other teeth. I returned to the office and had an X-ray. I was reassured that everything looked fine and was told that the problem was inflammation from my bite and that I needed to be patient and wait approximately 10 days for it to improve. I followed that advice and waited 12 days despite continuing to have considerable pain. When I finally returned because I could no longer tolerate it, I was then told that I had an infection and needed a root canal. What was particularly upsetting was being told that I should not have waited so long to come back, when I had specifically been instructed to wait. I have now had to deal with significant pain, repeated dental appointments, a root canal, and a great deal of stress over a crown that I elected to replace before it became an emergency. I understand that complications can happen with any dental procedure. What I find unacceptable is receiving conflicting information and then being criticized for following the instructions I was given. This experience has seriously affected my trust in this office. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this practice.

Remarkable Dentist and Staff - Compassionate, Skilled and Accommodating…read more We can't say enough about the extraordinary experience we had with Dr. Dodson and his staff. When our 101 year old Mother's denture's broke on a Sunday, we were not only worried about how we would get them repaired but also about how we were going to navigate her ability to eat without them. Also we weren't sure how we were going to manage it without putting her through the stress of a trip to the dentist. Amazingly Dr. Dodson was able to repair them without having to see her. We were lucky to find him, especially since he has a lab on site. Understanding the urgency, we were able to drop off the broken pieces first thing on Monday morning. He worked on them in between patients throughout the day. By 4:30 pm, he had them looking and functioning like brand new. The repair was perfect and no adjustments were needed! Dr. Dodson and his phenomenal staff were very compassionate about our situation and went above and beyond to help us. For that, my Mom and our family are deeply grateful!

He is the worst most unprofessional Dr I have ever been to. His quality of care is GARBAGE.

Eric Brown in Mid Valley came out head and shoulders over any other dental practice, so we took a look and then took the plunge some 4 years ago. Since moving here I've been trying to find dentists who have excellent bedside manner and show true…read moreconcern for patients. I'm happy to report that Dr. Shin has these qualities, and more. While at other dental offices in the area the head dental practitioner saw me for only about 2-3 minutes and was adamant that I need to replace my crown soon (s/he not to be named), Dr. Shin took the whole first hour going over my paperwork, gathering data about my teeth, and asking me to explain my current dental concerns. He even threw in some well timed jokes, and with every detail about how to promote good dental health, he made me feel like family. The good news is that I had no cavities, the bad news was that I needed a deep cleaning (the next hour) but would only be charged for one quadrant ($90 and a step beyond preventative care. $60 with insurance coverage). He even talked with me about the options of night guards for teeth grinding and showed genuine concern for improving the jaw / pain discomfort. The dental hygienist had great technique but average bedside manner. Also, something may have been wrong with the water pick because I was getting water all over my face! However my teeth were good as new after her stellar work. I highly recommend Dr. Shin and his staff. They are also transparent about pricing and honest about what goes on in the treatment and in the office back end (billing, insurance etc)

We're only here another month and they got me in IMMEDIATELY for new patient X-rays and eval. I knew I needed some work done and have been able to make all 3 appointments before leaving. The staff are all incredible. They address you by first name when you walk in the door when I had been there only once before. Everyone I have come into contact with at the office has gone above and beyond to help out. I always have a million questions about what they are doing or using and they gladly explain everything to me. If you need work done, the front desk will give you the exact price of what to expect instead of the run around. They also do her best to get you the best price possible and is very knowledgeable about insurance and what tricare will cover. I even got a personal phone call from Dr. James himself a few hours after my last appointment to make sure my pain was under control. I honestly can't say enough good things about this office and I wish I had found them at the beginning of our Monterey move!
