Seems just looking to make money and do work not required. First time in daughter was told needs almost all teeth to have fillings. Just moved to the area and previous check up 6 months ago no issues. No complaints pain or sensitivity but office said need all this work done. Shady. Not going back. I see someone else had posted a similar experience in 2023. :( Also did not complete cleaning and xrays in time allotted. Have to take time off work and need an efficient and skilled professional staff. This is not the place. read more

Never have I had such an experience that Its just how to make more money and redoing what another Excellent Dentist had done (dentist went out of network reason changing) Dr Alfy was just his agenda and not reason why the consult was for. After my own positive experience, I decided to take my son here instead of an in-network dentist. He was a little nervous (and I was, too!), but the entire staff at Cypress Dental was friendly and helpful throughout his appointment. Rocio, the dental hygienist, took extra time to explain everything to him, and made sure that he was not just okay, but actually having fun. And Dr. Alfy was top-notch as always. They were able to add in dental sealants to ensure his molars stayed healthy and cavity-free, and made sure I understood the cost of everything up front before moving forward. Working outside of insurance, I was really nervous about what this visit would cost me, but it was reasonable and well worth every penny! So I returned to Dr. Alfy's today to have 2 small cavities repaired. Once again, fast, friendly and nearly painless Procedure! On a scale of 1 to 10...10 being unbearable...the entire process was 1. The only moments of minor discomfort was having to open my mouth wide...and the cool temp of the water syringe. Also, Tyler was a HORRIBLY poor bame recollection on my part...the young Dental Assistant who helped me on both visits is named Jacob! And Jacob is a great young man, personable and friendly...and I'm certain that he'll be an amazing dentist especially since Dr. Alfy is his mentor. 2 great visits! since beginning of my daughter's dental treatment, and what happened with the billing part charging more than what the treatment really cost. I have talked to insurance calling back and forward, then I was right the charges were wrong and the bill went half of what they tried to charged me. Removed a teeth was wrong hasty decision they made take,  I don't know what was the real purpose of removing that teeth,  since my daughter before did not experienced any inconvenience on that teeth such a pain or anything .  my daughter's dental evaluation was created only in what is convenient for you, your office, and the money that you can earn from the insurance side, and also my side and what you can collect as a co-pay. Now she is suffering and bother because it hurts, makes her feel uncomfortable, food gets trapped, and many other things going on, something that didn't happen before. read more

I spoke with Stephanie on Friday who took all my insurance info, my past dental office, and personal info, and then we were cut off by accident on the phone. She later called back and left a msg. that she had scheduled me an appt. for Tues at 2:30 p.m. I called back on Sat. when I saw Stephanie's msg. and no one answered so I left a msg. stating I could not make that day and time. When I called back on Monday a.m., stating again that I could not make that time and hoping to reschedule, I was told by the Hispanic receptionist (no receptionist gave me a name) that I would be charged a cancellation fee because I did not cancel 48 hours in advance. I was in shock. I am thinking what?? I did not even make the appt. myself and explained that to her. She said she was sorry but that was the policy. I also said I DID call when I got the msg. on Sat. from Stephanie and left a msg. on the answering machine that I could not make that time. She said that they don't answer the phone on the weekends (duh?!) and I would be charged the cancellation fee ...even though Sat was more than 48 hrs ahead of the appt. and I did not make the appt. in the first place. The Hispanic receptionist said she was sorry I was upset but that was their policy. I asked for someone to call me back right away to discuss this. No one called back so I left another msg. specifically for Stephanie. When I called a third time, I was told by the receptionist ( a different one I believe??) that Stephanie was not in "that" office. And I said well which office is she in and what is her number because I only had the 1 number to call. She refused to give it to me and hung up on me. I then left a message that I would come by the office to speak w/someone in person in about 10 min. As I walked in someone at Cypress Dental called me and I said I am here coming into to the office now. When I got to the front desk, the white receptionist explained that Stephanie was not in the office "right now" and would not tell me when she would be back. The white receptionist refused to have Stephanie give me a call and refused to let me speak with a dentist in the office. The white receptionist said that that was normally their policy to charge for cancellation that is not done 48 hours ahead. I showed her the message from Stephanie on my phone that was transcribed, stating that we had been cut off and that she had scheduled an appt. for me w/o confirming I could make it on that date and time. I asked if that was a normal way for their office to schedule an appt. for a patient. She and the other receptionists refused to answer my question. Then the white receptionist and the other 2 Hispanic receptionists said they refused to be spoken to "that way"...even though I was asking a sincere question firmly. Really? Is that their normal practice? Crazy to me. I never yelled but was firm the entire time. I told them that that was not acceptable to me to start out as a new patient this way and I would not be going to this dentist. She said to leave or she was going to call the police. I said go ahead. I have no problem with that. I again asked if she would have Stephanie call me and she said, "no." Wow!! What a mickey mouse dental office!!!!!! I hope Stephanie will call me back as I did leave messages on the answering machine requesting this. She should know how awful I was treated. To say the least, I am not going to this dentist office. The receptionists are rude and incompetent to say the least. read more

I had my teeth cleaned last month and today I had a chipped tooth fixed and was fitted for a night mouth guard because I've been grinding my teeth. It was easy! I have used the same dentist in Tucson for 20 years. When I moved to Monterey, I traveled back and forth to Tucson to get my dental work done. I struggled to find a good dentist in Monterey. I have tried 2 other dentists in town that felt like high pressure sales and poor bedside manner. Dr Alfy has been an amazing, kind, and gentle Dentist and I have actually enjoyed every experience there, including 2 fillings (I know, shocking to me too!!). Even though I live in Bakersfield, CA I still drive the 3.5 hours every 6 months for a cleaning. He is very meticulous in what he does and I have not met another dentist like him. He grades his patients on an A-F scale (you better be flossing for that A+) :) besides being a dentist he is very knowledgable in other areas, so if you can, quiz him on history (specifically the Civil War).
