The food was served hot and can tell it didn't sit waiting for our server Food ; 4 stars. I find it hard to give a burrito more than 4 stars. Made a recent return to Jose's and had a solid time with the fam. Everyone left full and satisfied. This restaurant is kind of oddly placed, tucked in the back of a parking lot along the highway. Perk is you'll always find parking. When you enter, you immediately get the full Mexican restaurant feel. Loved our server, as she was so attentive and really sweet, especially interacting with my son. She was quick to bring us a jumbo basket of chips to start, which comes with a really good dark salsa. My dad and I both noted how much we liked it. These are complimentary, but we just haddd to order the table-side guac as well. They push over a little cart to make it in front of you, and you can decide the spice level. Medium was perfect, and it was a hefty bowl of guac! My mom and I split the grill skirt steak fajitas for an entree. They were kind enough to split it to two plates and bring us extra tortillas since they know we were sharing. It all comes on a sizzling platter with sautéed onions & grilled peppers, and a side of lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream & cheese. Lots of great flavor and the steak was cooked just right. My husband was a little impartal about his black mole burrito, but maybe that's kind of an acquired taste. I wasn't a fan either when I gave it a try. Dad championed his tacos. Before a Wednesday night of studying, it's dinner date with the girls before hitting books! I've been craving tacos and wanted to try a new place other than our usual hang out. My friends suggested that we'd go to Jose's Blue since it was the down the street from her. The place was quite large. Pretty cool decors. We were greeted and seated right away. Ordered our cocktails and with quite a large menu, i decided to go with the three combo. I had a tamale, chimichangas and taco which came with rice & beans. One of the girls ordered their surf n turf burrito, while the other ordered a combo 3 with tacos and chimichangas. Our waiter asked if we would like guac and also I'm not a big guac eater, the girls wanted to try so why not. Little did we know, a lady with a cart came by and made fresh guac right next to our table! WE were AMAZED! Most places premake guac but this was so fresh it was super delicious! Our food arrived shortly and honestly, it was ok. The seasoning was on point, but compared to other Mexican restaurants, I've had more authentic food. I really wanted authentic tacos (cilantro and onions) but it came out American style. My chimichangas was a bit soggy and tamale was dry, over cooked or possibly old?? The rice was great but imI was more saddened that the beans went homemade. From the look, texture and taste; it was premade canned beans. Nothing wrong with that but I mean.. $16 for ok/ below average food was a bit disappointing. I didn't try my friends foods, but they said it was ok. Have had better. Jose is probably a good place to come for a happy hour. For a proper lunch or dinner, there are better places. It has positives and negatives. Positives: isn't it fun to learn Spanish in the restroom? "Tengo in penguino en mis pantelones." The chips and salsa are an excellent start to a meal. The service is very good. I have been here a handful of times and have been happy when we go. We went recently and we finally had the guac. made on sight at the table. It was way better than I thought it would be. I guess I was expecting mediocre guac, but it was pretty good and a huge serving. We ate inside, most people were outside since the weather was great. The server was great and friendly, a little slow, but reminded us kindly/asked us to be thoughtful that it's hard for them to get help these days. But eating in the quality just isn't the best...the size of the meals are fairly small compared to other Mexican restaurants at the same price point. Do not visit this restaurant. Bad customer service. On two different occasions I booked large party reservations well in advanced. I even calling when the restaurant opened to verify the reservations. On one of the occasions, I arrived and was asked informed they were unable to accommodate for me. On the second occasion, I was called fifteen minutes prior to the reservation to notify me they double booked themselves, and again were unable to accommodate. This was the only Mexican restaurant in the area that had a surf n turf burrito on their menu. It wasn't bad. Not as good as my "go-to" places in San Diego, but I was somewhat satisfied. I want to give them five stars but I think that they forgot to put the guacamole in the burrito as I had requested and they cut the burrito in half. That is annoying to me. I grew up to n San Diego and I have been eating Mexican food for years; mainly burritos. No one cuts them in half. First off, we looked at their menu online and there is nowhere on there stating that they do not serve off their lunch menu on the weekends. The person that was taking the order was very patient with us so that was great! I then asked her for the total and did end up having to wait for over 10 minutes just to get a total. When we got to the restaurant it felt welcome and the staff was great! Since it was our first time ordering from this place it was good so far besides the long hold for the total. When we got back home and looked at the food we were confused as to which order was which. Turns out one of our order was placed incorrectly. We ordered the Carne Al Pastor but got the pastor tacos instead. In comparison with other Mexican restaurants we've been to, the portion size was smaller and was more expensive at this restaurant. I met up with some coworkers right as happy hour was ended and they could have easily said, nope, it's over, but the bartender didn't! They gave me the happy hour Margarita and it was delicious! When I arrived they said it'd be about 5-10 minutes. 45 minutes later I went inside after calling again and being placed on hold. After waiting an hour I asked for a refund and to cancel my order which they refused. 1 hour and 15 minutes I received my food and went home to find the order incomplete. The pork tacos were good. Ordered a taco salad, expecting the usual crispy greens with chunks of meat (pork in this case), beans, and salsa. Garden in a strip mall? This is a really odd location. This building has had several tenants in the past but it's current incarnation brings decent chain Mexican fare to the northern burbs. Jose's has a very large building located just of I-43 in Bayside/Fox Point. Is it any coincidence they are located right across from a daycare, frequented by parents who need a margarita (I think not). There is always parking available and very rarely will you have to wait for a table. Like many Mexican restaurants, Jose's has a large variety food options (pages and pages). We have tried tacos, fajitas, molcajete and other options and all of it has been good. The real star though, is the guacamole made table side. It is excellent. The margaritas are tasty, although fairly ordinary. They also have a fairly typical kids menu. However, if you come on your child's birthday, they will come out singing with a complimentary flan with a candle and a Mexican straw hat to wear and take home. read more

Once a frequent stop for myself and the better half as an Outback, this newly opened Mexican fiesta that trancends the other options in the area, has unleashed a potential addiction. You want flavor? This place has it! Gluten-free or not, there are a lot of options on the menu that will make your tonsils tingle with fervor. This salsa is the bomb-ski. It's fresh, balanced, and replinished without question. Grab some to go on your way out. The chips are in the cast, too. Thin, crispy, and served warm they make a superb compliment to the garden salsa. The food is solid-- from fish, chicken, and classic takes on Mexican grub one can't go wrong. At least I haven't yet. What I love the most is you don't have to leave with a 10 pound burrito in your stomach. They have entrees that are light and still deliver. Ambiance is fresh, clean, and staffed with a concious crew that is clearly proud of their place of employment. Decent outdoor patio- but, don't anticipate a view. However, there are bubbly fountains and a competition grade garden that grows the needed veggies that make for a five star salsa. Glad Jose decided to land on the Northshore.
