My husband and I found Dr. Medrano through St. Joseph's hospital right before my 3rd trimester started. We had a doctor we didn't trust and who misdiagnosed my pregnancy and knew we had to find someone else. Dr. Medrano carries himself in a very calm and knowledgeable manner that was exactly what we needed after feeling traumatized from my previous obgyn appointments. He saw I had a perfectly healthy baby and a right on track pregnancy even though I had endometriosis and got SPD while pregnant. My previous doctor immediately wanted to give me a c section even though unnecessary. I ended up having a VERY successful vaginal birth with a very healthy baby girl. I healed within a week and had no side effects. Dr. Medrano is the only doctor I want delivering my future children. We are so thankful for him and the nurses at St. Joseph's for a very successful pregnancy and birth! read more

If I could give a lower review, I would. I was referred to Dr. Medrano from my primary care physician. When I called to make my first appointment, they were booking six weeks out. Fine, whatever, I made an appointment. Six weeks later, I get a call that the doctor isn't actually available that day, and that the office needs to change my appointement. I let me reschedule me, and today was supposed to be my appointment. I got there at 1:15 for a 1:30 appointment. I was greeted by rude staff, but filled out my paperwork and sat down to wait. At 2, another woman asked the front desk if they had an ETA on when she'd be seen, since her appointemnt was at 1:00, and it was already 2:00. The receptionist told her that the doctor was not in the office, but would hopefully be there soon. This was the first any of the six of us who were in the waiting room had ever heard of this. I asked what was going on, if they could provide updates, and the rude receptionist said "he's not here. he'll probably be here soon". Ten minutes later, he still wasn't there. There were now, at 2:10, women waiting who's appointments were at 1:00, 1:10, 1:20, 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, and 2:00. Unbeliveably, when I went to go try and reschedule (which turned out to be impossible, as the next date available is not for a month), I was not offered an apology or an explanation. When I suggested that they may have called to let us all know the Dr. was running more than an hour behind, the receptionist said, "oh, well, even with appointments we tell people the wait time is usually around an hour to be seen." I couldn't believe it. What is the point of an appointment if (even on a regular day) I don't get seen for more than an hour? I left, and I wouldn't trust this practice with my body or any of my friend's bodies. read more

I was very heart-broken. This doctor does NOT specialize in Uterine Fibroid Embolization. A treatment like that means a lot to me. It's best not to go with this Doctor for any alternative methods. read more

I came away from this appointment feeling violated, hopeless, overwhelmed, and frustrated. Doctors take a no-harm oath, and yet this individual DID cause harm with his attitude, lack of professionalism, and inability to be a support to someone diagnosed with a serious/ life-changing condition. If he is unable to find the compassion and empathy in this situation, then I don't understand how anyone can expect him to be supportive through a pregnancy/labor. So here is my attempt at being as objective as possible and hopefully help one of you by sharing my experience and grievances: -Slow to provide test results. I get it...He's busy, but should your patients suffer because you spread yourself too thin? He diagnosed me with a condition that impacts every aspect of my life yet he did not provide me with my results in a timely manner. I was informed he could not leave me a message which increased my concerns that something was wrong. I had to get my primary care physician to intervene in order to get a call back. -Doesn't provide his patients with the tools needed to overcome health challenges. He does not seem to be the kind of doctor that wants his patients to take a proactive role in their treatment. He doesn't provide the necessary information to help you, the patient, make an informed decision. His attitude seems to say take the meds and shut up. No real discussion/collaboration on the best course of treatment for me. -Unprofessional-He is a very negative and defensive individual. He reacted defensively to concerns, and evaded a lot of my questions. -Unethical- No follow-up instructions; no direct response about when I should schedule my next appointment... AND He was VERY reluctant to refer me to someone that did specialize in my condition. I basically got the message that I was on my own. -Uncompassionate and mediocre- He was dismissive of the emotional impact that the diagnosis had on me, The majority of specialists #1 recommendation for my diagnosis is a change in lifestyle and diet. His recommendation...medications that would only cover up my symptoms. -Poor bedside manners- did not even acknowledge my husband in the room. He is not gentle during women's exams. He did not tell me what to expect or take me through the steps. I left feeling violated because he continued inserting the clamps while I was visible tense and uncomfortable. Finally, Don't let his "credentials", beautiful website, and good marketing strategies fool you...that is all it is- marketing. His skill, bedside manner, and compassion are no where to be found. read more

Great doctor has the best bed side manner. He delivered my baby Julian 8 years ago. Of looking for an OBGYN you found him.

Dr. Medrano is the best. I am not his patient, but my wife is and I attended their meetings. He is easily the best among the 4-5 OBGYNs we've dealt with. read more

I loved the way the office of Dr Medrano makes you feel and how informative they are. The doctor is very professional and attentive. I delivered my baby with him and he took me even just having one more month of pregnancy and on top of that be high risk due to me having VSG. He was the right choose I made. I will keep seeing him as my OBGYN. I know getting an appointment with him is hard at times but it's because his that popular and his staff are so helpful when needing a call back. HORRIBLE STAFF, HORRIBLE DOCTOR. Please do yourself a favor and find another doctor, that is caring, warm and does not make you wait for hours to see him, just so he can read your chart in front of you then tell you to go back to your OBGYN and that Cervical Caner is slow growing, topper was the $450 office visit charge to be treated horribly. read more

Word to future male OBGYNs: resolve your weird sex shame issues before providing so-called "care" to women. As if it wasn't difficult for ladies to get treated like decent human beings in the world, we certainly don't need our vag doctors contributing, especially when we're splayed out on the examination table. Let's just say Dr. Medrano has the most pessimistic slut shaming dudebro bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen. I had a common + easily treatable issue (found this out from a second opinion) and Dr. M made it sound like I was going to suffer indefinitely for the rest of my life. My other female OBGYN even confirmed what he said was false and way out of line. He unnecessarily scared the everloving shit out of me because I don't know, maybe this sadistic f*ck gets off on it. Boy bye. Never again. Don't let this weirdo grab yr pussy. read more

This is my second pregnancy and I went with Dr. Medrano because he was willing to see me when I was 5 weeks pregnant when most doctors make you wait. The first visit went well and I thought I would stick with him throughout this pregnancy. Then the second visit I felt very rushed and almost like I was annoying him in some way if I asked a question. I still decided to stick it out and give it a chance. One day I noticed I was spotting and I never had that in my first pregnancy so naturally I freaked out. I scheduled an appointment and when I went in Dr. Medrano didn't even take a swab for testing before claiming I had a bacterial infection and was quick to prescribe me something for it. During that visit he asked when my next appointment was. I told him it was a week from today. He told me to keep the appointment so we can do a follow up. I go in a week later to my SCHEDULED appointment and the nurses can't find it and say they can squeeze me in. Dr. Medrano walks in and says "What's going on?" In an annoyed voice. No hello, how are you. I said I had an appointment today and he said "Oh, well I thought since you came last week you would reschedule". Wth? I was done after that. He was rude and I yet again felt rushed and like I was in his way or something. I'm now back with the doctor who delivered my first and I should have stuck with him in the first place and just waited until I was 10 weeks to see him. Dr. Bardowell also cared that I was spotting and took a swab and sent it in and discovered that I did not have a bacterial infection and it was just normal spotting. Glad I trusted my instinct and didn't take medicine for something I didn't need. read more

Dr.Medrano was the best doctor I've ever had!!! He delivered my third baby girl on August 31st just after we lost my husbands grandfather... he was very compassionate and made sure we had a safe delivery due to us living so far from the hospital. Lol Aloha doctor Medrano you are amazing read more

I still haven't delivered my baby, but so far my experience with Dr. Medrano has not been a great one. He has never been rude, but he doesn't seem to be a doctor who loves what he does. Every appointment is about 1 minute of contact with him, and he really doesn't make many comments, recommendations, or make any attempts to try to socialize or get to know anything about me. Being that this is my first pregnancy and everything is new to me, he really doesn't make on feel excited at all. When I talk to my other friends that are pregnant, they talk about how their doctor recommended this and that...It makes me sad making me wish I had their doctor. Since I can't count on my doctor giving me advice I have to do a lot more reading on my own. I guess it is my fault for going to the first doctor that my insurance referred me to. I should have found another doctor right when I got the vibe that he isn't one that is really into his job. Perhaps it will be different during delivery, and that is what I am hoping for. I am staying positive, but I would have liked for someone to have told me the way he was going to be- then hopefully I wouldn't have gone to him in the first place and would have a more caring doctor right now. I would like to hear what his patients experienced during delivery and then maybe I could feel better, but I haven't had any luck finding any helpful reviews. read more

This is my first pregnancy and I was recommended to Dr. Medrano. When I asked questions he would sarcastically answer and seem annoyed that I'm asking questions. I shouldn't feel like I'm annoying my obgyn with questions. I wanted to have a detailed birth plan and he gave me a hard time about it and said that I didn't need one. When my mother came with me to one of my appointments she was concerned about how my condition would interfere with my vaginal birth and asked questions. He responded rudely, defensive, raised his voice and gave her attitude like she shouldn't be asking questions. She quickly thought maybe I should switch. I wanted to give him a few more tries. He had terrible bedside manners. He made me feel uncomfortable and almost always made me feel bad for having concerns about my own pregnancy. I wanted to ask questions and not feel attacked. His staff is very kind but him in general is not a very good obgyn! Our appointments would be 5 minutes long. At one time, forgot to take my urine sample. He never measured my tummy. I am so upset I wasted 7 months being his patient. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone who has tons of questions about their pregnancy or wants a caring personable doctor. read more

Very careless! Doesnt take much time to care for his patients or ask any question!

Dr. Medrano was cool up until I started seeing him for my pregnancy. Everytime I came in he would do an ultrasound with his crappy machine which printed horrible quality pictures. When it came time to my labor they induced me and the nurses were ordered to go slow on the pitocin because Dr. medrano was busy at a Hamilton play. Next morning once the fun was over he gave them permission to speed up the labor and next thing you know I was pushing. The baby came out with the cord wrapped around his neck and arm... with all his weekly ultrasounds, shouldn't he have seen this? Plus he did the circumcision. The nurses warned me he has to leave so he has to hurry and my husband being s dr told them it shouldn't be rushed and done right.. well he did a horrible job. Poor baby went thru it for nothing because he left sooo much skin. In my opinion he's greedy, money hungry and has way too many patients and it comprises the quality of care he gives to his patients. read more

I went to Dr Medrano because I was pregnant and having pain and discharge. I wasnt sure if it was pregnancy related or an infection. I went in for my appointment and he got a call and said he had to leave but he did a quick vaginal exam and told me that It looks like infection and had me do a treatment. The symptoms got worse after treatment so I came back and he did another exam and said that I had BV and prescribed me antibiotics. I did not want to take antibiotics but i read that u have to take them if u have BV. After The last dose I was still having the same symptoms. I went back to Dr Medrano and he was going to prescribe another antibiotic but I told him that I did NOT want to take more antibiotics especially since they didnt work the first time. Im so glad I said NO! I told him to test my culture to see what kind of infection I had before I take more medication. He tested culture called back a few days later and said that I didnt have an infection and that the symptoms i was having were normal pregnancy symptoms. Im so upset that he made me take antibiotics during pregnancy for no reason! Doctors shouldnt be allowed to prescribe antibiotics especially to pregnant woman without confirming or testing for bacterial infection! He also rushed all my appointments and wouldnt give me time to ask questions. read more

I booked an appointment for 6w5d with Dr. Medrano because he'd let me come in early on in pregnancy. I had to bring my 2 children (4.5 and almost 2) to the appointment. The front office staff were very nice and helpful. My kids did a great job waiting for 45 min. in the busy waiting room (that doesn't have toys/books for kids), even though it was lunch time. After it was our turn to go back and we were waiting in the exam room, Dr. Medrano came in and looked a bit surprised to see children with me (who I thought were behaving very well and playing on the Kindle). In looking over my paperwork, one of the very first questions he asked me was "So, was this pregnancy a surprise?", which really caught me off guard. "You mean, because I already have a boy and a girl, that I'm not likely to want another?" I asked. "Yes, we were open to more kids and I knew it could happen and I'm happy about it, if that's what you mean." He left and I got undressed and waited on the exam table. While waiting, I picked up my almost 2 yr old to hold him on my lap so he wouldn't be tempted to get into things or push buttons. When Dr. Medrano came back in and saw my son on my lap, he said, "Oh, were you planning to hold him the whole time?" "No, I was holding him just while waiting for you", I responded, kind of confused, and put him on the ground to play Kindle with his sister. "Oh good", he replied " I didn't know how we were going to do this very well if you were going to hold him up here the whole time". I was kind of getting a sense of overall disapproval from him. We saw a gestational sac, and what looks like a fetal pole, but no heartbeat. He told me that I might just be off on my dates. I told him I've been tracking my cycles for years and I use opks and I know when I ovulated, so I was pretty sure on my dates. He then dismissively said, "well, you don't know when when the egg and sperm met". I wanted to tell him that, um, I know when I had intercourse and that I'm pretty sure that conception happened as soon as I ovulated, and that I'm pretty well-versed on how my reproductive system works...but I didn't. As I was leaving the exam room with both my kids, he reminded me that my hands must already be full with the two young kids that I already had - again, seeming to imply that bringing a third child into the world was somehow abnormal or frowned upon. It was all just very weird. I told him that I'm from a family of 6 kids and come from a culture where additional children are welcomed into families and not made to feel like a burden, so I didn't think my two kids were too much and I loved having them. Moral of the story: If you already have more than 1 child, or if you're the kind of woman who is knowledgeable about how your own body works, or if you don't need someone telling you how (or when) to get or be pregnant - this might not be your best fit doctor. read more

If I could give more stars, I would. Let me begin with the fact that for my pregnancy, I was receiving my prenatal care with a clinic whom works with various Doctors & Nurse Practitioners. I really disliked the fact that I had a different nurse practitioner throughout my pregnancy and every appointment I was told a different story. Anyway, I delivered my son at St. Joes in Burbank and I was told Dr. Medrano would be my delivery doctor because my "doctor" scheduled to deliver is on a personal leave for an indefinite amount of time. Dr. Medrano guided me step by step on what I was going to expect and made me feel extremely comfortable. My delivery was an amazing experience thanks to Medrano. After delivery he did see me before I was discharged and after having a pleasant experience, I've then switched over to his office for my post natal care/family planning and he will be my OB for any future pregnancies. Update: This past 8/22 I had my 6 week checkup for postpartum. It was my first time going to his office. I filled out paperwork and as soon as completed I was called in, checked by Medrano, was provided with all birth control methods to consider. He was extremely informative and knowledgeable about everything. He also answered all my concerns and questions. I kid you not I was in and out within 30 minutes. Very clean & professional environment. I recommend him to anyone seeking prenatal care, you won't be disappointed. read more

Dr. Medrano was my OB and delivered my baby. The appointments were about every 3 weeks then 2 & once a week as the due date approaches. His office does have ultrasound equipment & at every visit he checks on the baby. This was important bc not all OBs have an ultrasound machine in office. I looked forward to my visits to see my baby on the screen. The appointments were quick but efficient. Which was great bc there wasn't a long wait at the office. I was fortunate to have a healthy pregnancy & delivery. Being my first pregnancy my worries were at ease with each visit & great news on my test results. (Thank god!) read more

My first visit went fairly well. However, I am pretty disappointed since then. I was referred by my primary care physician to follow up on my health condition. I was there on August 12. After first visit, I need to have an follow up appointment which requires authorization/approval from my insurance company. As of today (08/24) Doctor still hasn't finished my note, so they can't submit my authorization request to my insurance company. I think it is not ethically and legally compliant the requirement from medical board (but I am not sure and I will double check on the board). I totally understand that Doctor might be very busy, but maybe he has to reconsider his caseload and probably not taking more than he can actually afford to provide services. read more

His calm demeanor, sense of humor and excellent knowledge in his field makes every visit fun. We always walked out of his office with a smile on our faces! Dr. Medrano is the best! After having another doctor deliver my first 2 children I had to find a new OB/GYN due to a change in insurance. I got referred to Dr. Medrano and was very nervous about a new doctor. I immediately felt comfortable with him at the first visit. He was very patient, kind, informative and gentle. I felt totally at ease with him throughout my pregnancy and scheduled c-section. Since my daughters birth in 2015, I've seen him for my annual visits. I recently opted for the Mirena IUD and Dr. Medrano answered all my questions and the procedure in office was as pleasant as an IUD insertion can be. Lol! I really have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Medrano and was completely surprised by the negative reviews. In terms of long wait times and cancelled appointments, it happens! Dr. Medrano is horrible person. He performed a membrane sweep without my consent , while I was extremely pregnant . It was a very painful procedure , and a violation of my rights . I agreed to a cervical check , and that was all . The only way I even knew he did that procedure was he warned me there may be some spotting, as he left the room . I wish I would have spoken up sooner , but I was so pregnant , shocked , and in pain . I saw him for my prenatal care because he was chosen by my insurance , and figured oh well it could be worse , convinced myself he was an alright guy . I was grateful to know my baby was alright , and see the ultrasounds so I put up with his bad attitude and horrible bedside manner . He made me so uncomfortable I decided to deliver at a different hospital with a complete stranger , and I am glad I did . He doesn't care about his patients at all , on a personal level , and I doubt he ever knew my name , even after months of visits . I don't even care to mention some of the horrible things he said when I chose not to induce labor on my due date . I wish I had never let him touch me . The nurses and receptionists were kind , and I got to see an ultrasound every visit , those were the only decent things about this doctors office . Dr Medrano is a jerk , and behaves as if he hates women . read more

First of all I'd like to start by saying that I'm late with this review, as I saw Dr. Medrano about 5 years ago, but felt that I should still write my review as I have recently experienced doctors that I was much happier with. We felt Dr. Medrano's bedside manner left something to be desired when he gave us not so happy news, and his office staff at the time was completely incompetent. That being said, he did perform surgery for me, and did do a good job. And that particular day his bedside manner was better, so perhaps he had a bad day when we first met him, but it sure didn't help us to get unhappy news in a matter of fact manner when we first met him. At our follow up visit after the surgery, I had asked him at the time, if there was anything he could do for me so we can have a successful pregnancy, and he had told me that normally I would have to have 3 miscarriages before giving me medication of some sort to help me. Not satisfied with that answer, I found a different OBGYN who was very supportive. After experiencing one miscarriage with my current OBGYN, he took immediate action, and we now have a beautiful little baby. read more

I am so furious at this doctor right now. This guy over books his office so it's a minimum hour and a half wait from the time of your scheduled appointment because he is a money grabber who does not care at all about his patients. He can't remember my name he doesn't remember that he delivered my baby asked me every time he sees me if I plan to have kids and I have serious medical issues that he is not doing enough to help me with. I have a lump in my breast and I went to get it checked and 45 minutes after my time while I was still waiting to be seen and got a call from my house and had to go home because I am a working mother with a life. So I had to miss my appointment I called to reschedule and it took over two weeks to find a time. That time was right now. I came in and asked how long the wait is and they said an hour and a half and I said from my scheduled appointment it's an hour and a half and he said yes it would be but he just got called into a delivery so he's leaving. He had a full office of patients waiting for who knows how long to be seen and I understand babies have to be born but this in sane overbooking of patients shows a serious lack of judgment and a serious lack of morals or caring or ethics regarding his patients. He's in it for the money and that's it and I am not OK with that. I've asked when I could reschedule my appointment and I was told May 5. Today is April 12 and the reason my appointment is canceled is because of him yet he can't find time to squeeze me in because he is so over packed with patients there is literally not one appointment in almost a month to make up for the ones he had to cancel today. I am changing my insurance getting a different obstetrician and hope to never have to deal with anybody like this guy ever again. What a disgusting human being. What a heartless gross on ethical person. Do not go here do not go here do not go here. read more

The doctor is terrible. I ended up with this guy after my water broke and I was too far from my own OBGYN. I was at the hospital in labor from 9am Sat 5/27/17 until 2pm Monday 5/29/17.He was the on call doctor at Providence in Burbank this past MDW. I was having a few complications , couple of the nurses were all over the place , and none of them were in the same page. It is definitely not reassuring when a nurse says "I don't know" . I requested to see him, had the nurse call him to come talk to me, and he said no! He was even present at the hospital at certain times during the day to check on other patients and STILL made no effort to come in and speak to me at all for the 58 hrs I was in labor. Note there were al of 3 patients in the labor and delivery section all weekend . At one point in time I was the only patient there . He stopped in on Day 3 to tell me we had to go ahead and do the unplanned c section. He was even more of an asshole in aftercare. Not only did he have an attitude he didn't know whether he used stitches or staples to close up my wound. This man is seriously lucky I didn't have the energy to curse him out . I'm pissed I have to pay him anything. read more
