Watch out for Jose Martinez Tree Service Company! Safety is clearly not their top priority, and their operation is extremely unprofessional. Jose's crew failed to set up cones, signs or any barriers to prevent vehicles from parking in areas where tree trimming was actively taking place. They proceeded to cut tree limbs directly over parked vehicles, which resulted in damage to my truck. This is completely unacceptable and unsafe. Even worse, the owner refuses to take responsibility or repair the damage caused by his company's negligence. Be very careful if you see Jose's crew working overhead. This could easily happen to someone else.......... don't be the next victim! read more

I was thoroughly impressed using JM Tree Service! It began with Jose Martinez, who I felt gave me a fair estimate. Jorge and Sergio, who did the work I needed to have done, did an incredible job. They not only did the work I needed. They went on and beyond the call of duty! I recommend JM to any and all! read more

Don't give many reviews, I like to give them when they are well deserved. Can't say enough about José Martinez Tree Service . Had a 30 ft Ficus tree wreaking havoc in my yard. Beautiful tree but the roots were out of control. Called 3 services José was best price and actually responded to my message! Crew turned up on time, all very courteous and efficient. Tree was out in less than 45 mins! No damage to surrounding plants/ bushes or our Koi pond. Roots were ground out perfectly , grass and soil filled in and raked and looking like it was never where a tree once stood! Hats off to the crew and José. Gave them cold beverages and a big tip as they were $250 less than the "other guy". Would highly recommend these guys! read more

I've been using Jose and his crews to trim my palm trees for a couple of years now. Every time is a great experience. It's good to know that these guys are very professional and conscientious when it comes to caring for your property. They take the extra step to be sure none of the other parts of my landscaping gets damaged. They always leave the yard clean. They are so good that 3 of my neighbors now use Jose for their palms. read more

We needed our Silver Sheens (25+ ft tall) and our prize Melaleuca tree thinned out and trimmed. They are quite overgrown and I hesitate to have them butchered by someone who doesn't know what they are doing. Jose came to quote the job and assured me that they would sculpt our trees and I will be pleased. Well~ A Big shoutout to Roy and his crew! Professional and polite! They arrive early to access the job and too work they went. Hearing chainsaws made me a bit nervous until I watched them and became mesmerized by their talents. Jose's crew returned today to help me with another job trimming a huge tree that hangs over our property line. Again Roy and his crew came and did a fantastic job. Now we will have sunlight and we can plant our veggie garden. Call Jose Martinez Tree Service! read more

Jose is an action oriented guy, in the beginning I wasn't sure if he understood everything that needed to be done, I've been using his services for a few years now and he knows what needs to be done and does it, great! One less headache that I have, and no need to explain myself over and over. If you want the job done call him. Simple as that. read more

The team did a fantastic job, taking down a huge towering eucalyptus tree. It was actually quite a dangerous job in my opinion, and they did it without complaint, and remained very professional. read more

They came to trim the trees in my condominium complex. As they cut the trees, they dropped the branches onto my patio without any concern for my expensive flower pots. I stopped them from doing it. When I told them they could break my pots, they said not to worry, they could get me new ones. I refused to let them continue, and they finally helped me move the pots. However, they continued to drop the branches onto the patio carelessly. They broke an outside light and ruined my sliding door screen. I reported them to the HOA management. The HOA tried to contact them, but Martinez never replied. The HOA ended up paying for the light. I paid for a matching one, so my patio would look good. In total, the HOA paid over $90.00 for the light. No one ever paid for the screen. These people have no regard for other people's property. read more

I'll try and put some more pictures of the end result which was absolutely 100% amazing. I just wanted to put down a few words here and give praises to Jose and his phenomenal crew. We had approximately 25 trees trim to perfection and one dead tree completely cut out. We got about five bids from highly rated tree companies in the area and hands down Jose won our business. He was very competitively priced. And walked us through the whole process and took all the stress out of a project of this size. You'd be crazy to even think of using any other company. We are in the Anaheim Hills area in high fire risk area he also took care of our slope weed whacked it and got rid of all of the fire danger. All of his equipment is top-notch and he's just I can't say it enough a super nice human being. Thank you Jose I will recommend you to anyone and everyone who needs your services. Easy 5 stars .. This morning coming out of my house. I saw the company Jose Martinez tree service truck completely blocking our way out. I notice the truck being close to my car. I notice the woods chips have fallen straight onto my cars trunk and windshield. There's a bunch of thin small scratches on the trunk and on the roof. I called the company to let the owner know but instead of finding a resolution to the problem the owner Jose Martinez ask if we want to meet (as if he wanted to fight me) I told him why would he want to meet? I'm just asking to move the truck and be responsible for the scratches. read more

They provided terrible service! We hired this company to remove two trees, one of which had very extended roots that had created a lump in front of the house and the roots were extending to the driveway. Jose promised to remove the roots to eliminate the lump. He sent his crew to complete the task, but he never came to supervise them. They removed the trees, and two hours after arriving they left to take their lunch, they came back and did not complete the job arguing that they couldn't remove the lump/roots because they would damage the grass (which I didn't care about). They broke a sprinkler water line (I found out days later) and didn't even care to inform me or repair it. I asked to speak with Jose before the crew left for the day and although Rodrigo (the lead of the crew members) was speaking with him on his cell phone, he didn't allow me to talk with him claiming that Jose would call me later but he never did. I had to hire another company to remove the roots of the tree and fix the sprinkler water line. If I could give them a minus-10 rating I would. Do not hire this company unless you want to be provided with deplorable service. read more

I had about a dozen trees in my yard that needed to be trimmed back. They showed up right on time with their chipper truck and four workers. They did an excellent job for a fair price. There was one very large tree that needed to be trimmed way back as it was shading a fruit tree. They asked me questions to be sure that they did it just the way I wanted. Overall I am quite satisfied. read more

I called a couple tree trimmers. Jose came out quickly, was friendly and spoke great english. I told him what i needed on my single chinese elm, and he gave me an estimate. I thought it was a little high based on what i have paid in the past but i wanted a REALLY good trimming, and showed him a tree next door that had (in my mind a close but too tight a job). He said ok, and the crew arrived the next morning. I dont think any of them spoke english because i tried to tell the "foreman" what i had requested and he kept saying "your the boss" to whatever i said. Unfortunately the tree was given a "regular trim". They did a good job, but it wasnt the close trim i had asked for and thought i paid for. I went inside and came back out and they were gone, along with my check. But they left behind of bunch of small branches on the ground (it was a really windy day so ill give them some leeway on cleanup). I had to go out the next week with my ladder and saws all to trim the branches further. Not fun when im 61 years old and on a ladder. Notice the tight trim on the birch next door. I said "i dont want it that tight, but pretty close". Jose said ok. read more

Needed two tree stumps removed from our property. Found Jose Martinez Tree Service in the yellow pages with free estimate. Mr. Martinez called back right away and arrived on time to do an estimate. We then agreed to a date and time, but it rained that day and I received a call first thing in the morning asking to reschedule. We did reschedule for two days later. Right before the scheduled time I received a call that the job before us was running late. The technician arrived within two hours. He was prompt and professional when cutting the tree, removing the tree and cleaning up. I was very impressed by the professionalism of Mr. Martinez and his crew. The price was very reasonable also. I highly recommend this company. read more

We saw that our neighbor was having trees trimmed. We have 15 very tall ficus trees that needed to be topped and trimmed. My husband went down to get a estimate from them. One of the guys came up to take a looked at the trees. He came back within 15 mins gave us a price and said it could be done today. He said he would be finished with the neighbors in a half hour. My husband said ok! They were here within the half hour and got to work right away. Professional, polite and priced reasonably. read more

I called Jose Martinez Tree Service. A phone operator that works for other companies as well answered the phone and took down my information. Jose called me back about an hour later. They were great when we used them before to cut down our palm tree in Laguna Hills but when we called back for repeat business they never got back to us. Jose mentioned he would go take a look and get back to me but didn't. He stated that its been a year and the trees are taller now and it will cost more money which is funny because they use a operated lift. I called another company Tree Service by Esteban that was referred by a friend and they were 25% cheaper and had amazing customer service. You lost my repeat business read more

Jose was very professional and fair with his quote. His team came out quickly and took care of 3 of our trees. His crew was great. I should have yelped these guys first. they suck. didn't listen to any of my instructions. said they'd be there 730am to 8pm. I have to leave for work at 9. they came at 830. I asked them to grind specific stumps. the manager Federico said OK don't worry. I come home at 645 pm to make sure they did everything right. they left at 5. they left a bunch if roots. I asked for a small pile of firewood chopped small. they leave me 4 huge piles. I mean huge. what kind if idiot thinks a 40 inch log will fit in a fireplace. I called to complains. he told me you asked for firewood. I said yes. a small pile. not 4 large. and they're too big. he said he will return to cut them down and grind the stump. he lied and told me the stump was left due to the trees stability. all bs. my uncle said their stump grinder broke down. and my neighbor said their tree shredder truck was too full so they left me all that wood. I took down a huge tree and did a major trim on 2 others. they should've came with 2 trucks. I specified before they came back. cut the logs down to 24 inches max. he said OK. it didn't happen. I still have a huge pile if 36-48 inch logs I cant even move. I have 2 measuring at 6 foot long! they also just cut and let the wood fall. multiple times the large pieces just hit the electrical line. oh yeah. they broke 2 sprinklers lines because they didn't watch where they were grinding. I also have a log just sitting on my roof ready to slide down on me. i went with them since they're liscensed and looks legit. legit business but not legit work. go elsewhere. they're goal is to come get the job partially done then leave. they act very professional to get business but they just rob you. update 7-16-2015. I see the owner responded to rebuddle my review. it doesn't matter if the person at my door couldn't speak English. if you would've kept notes you wouldn't have had to ask again. and either way. I called to complain. your staff returned and still failed. incompetent is all I can say about your workers and the management team. and if you would've stayed until 8 as promised I would've been there to tell their dumb asses how much to leave. ps. it's wood not would. maybe you should update your response to try and save your company some face. read more

After paying quite a heft price for the removal of ivy roots, I have come to see that they did not remove the roots for a large section of the area I paid for. After telling Jose this, he said he would stop by to see for himself. Needless to say, he didnt come by. After several calls and messages I have left, Jose has continued to ignore and not get back to me. Prior to this I was happy with their service, but NO company should be allowed to operate when they blatantly ignore their customers after they have been paid in full. Disgraceful. read more

I have used, and been extremely satisfied with, JM Tree Service for over 10 years. Maybe Jose now has too much business, because its clear that this year he didn't care about my business or my satisfaction. He didn't even return my call for an estimate for over 24 hours, then was an hour and a half late for the appointment. His crew was to have started the next morning, but showed up late in the afternoon on the same day. Although his crew was very polite and professional, it's unreasonable to think they could do a good job in the dark. ...but they finished well after dark. I called Jose while the crew was still on site. We started talking and he said one of the workers was paging him, but he would call me back. Didn't call me back until the next afternoon to ask for a check. I made an appointment for the next morning for him to talk to me about my dissatisfaction and to pick up a check. Again, he showed up an hour and a half late and it was clear that he had no interest in trying to turn me into a satisfied customer. It's sad to see the customer service go down the drain as it obviously as. read more

I have a dozen eucalyptus trees that have to be trimmed every year and I've used a lot of different tree services to do this unpleasant annual task. Absolutely noone has done as good a job as JM Tree Service. Their pricing is very competitive and the work they do is so much better than any of the other companies I've used. These guys are pros - they have a great team, they have the equipment, they are responsive and show up when they say they will, and they clean the trimmings not just from my yard but from my neighbors' yards as well. Nobody does it better. No question about who will trim these trees next time it's needed. read more

I'm not the party that hired Jose Martinez Tree Service to trim our many trees at the Serenity Villa Apartments at Pomona, Ca. I am a tenant here. It has been 3 years since we have had our palms trimmed back and the fronds grew very low on the trees and totally hid my 3rd floor view of the mountains! In two days they had all our trees trimmed way back and looking fresh and daylight now pours into my apartment and once again I have a panoramic view of the San Gabriel mountains. They worked so fast and their clean up was amazing: spic and span - no debris left behind at all! I would highly recommend this company. The work is professional and shows pride of work. Jose Martinez gave a very reasonable estimate to do a major trim on an old huge pine tree in the neighbors yard with much of it hanging into my yard. We've used Jose Martinez Tree service twice - for a tree & stump removal and for topping/trimming some incredibly tall cypress trees that hadn't been pruned in 40 years (a dangerous job). On both occasions he and his crew arrived early, worked fast and efficiently and most significantly, safely. As an attorney I was very concerned about injuries or property damage. Jose's crew was clean cut, very considerate and did an outstanding job of cleaning up debris (including items that fell in the neighbors' yards). I would use them again and highly recommend their services. His price on both occasions was very reasonable - less than ripoff artists and more than unlicensed/uninsured bottom feeders. read more

Not only did JM Tree Service come for a free estimate the day that I called, but I was able to get a timely appt 2 days later. They trimmed two huge trees, & did a massive removal of ivy like vines that had completely taken over 3 condo walls to the ground & the patio windows, dug out a Bougainvillea, cleaned out the flower beds, & pulled out the pervasive growth between the patio pavers. They worked immaculately, removed any trace of leaves & tree limbs in the patio & on the common areas. Thank you to Daniel L, Fernando M, & Jose S, for such a great job! read more

JM Tree Service trimmed two high palm trees and a Chinese elm and did a very professional job at a reasonable price. What distinguishes them from the other tree services is they have all the heavy equipment, a truck with a lift cage, an on-site chipper and a truck to haul away the wood chips, all parked in front of my home. They actually came early and cleaned up completely. True professionals and a well-run business. They are licensed and pay workers' comp and have insurance.
