Tiffany's was my second stop (out of what was supposed to be four different appointments) to look…read moreat wedding gowns. Long story short, I never went to stops 3 and 4 because I found "the one" at Tiffany's! I'm not a girly-girl, and I went in saying I didn't want anything "too fluffy, too poofy, too lacy, or too embellished." Not exactly the easiest task for a wedding dress salesperson. My consultant found a gorgeous dress that met all my wish-list items. The lights actually went off in the store as she was helping me into it - a true sign that this was it! I didn't expect to have "a moment," being the not-so-girly-girl that I am, but this dress brought me to tears. I can't wait to wear it in March!

Let me start this off by saying that I am not someone who writes a lot of reviews but I had such a…read morebad experience that I felt the need to warn any other brides from feeling as defeated in their bridal appointment as I did. My appointment was this past Saturday. My experience at this bridal store was horrible. When myself and my party entered, we were told to pull some dresses that we liked while we waited for my consultant. My consultant told my party to "calm down" with all the picking after they chose 3 dresses and never introduced herself to my family. My consultant at didn't seem like she was listening to any of my preferences. The situation seemed like she was choosing dresses that she liked. Throughout the appointment, she continued to pull dresses that were, over budget, the wrong material ( she kept pulling dresses with so much tulle) and overall not my style that we discussed. Every dress she pulled was either 6 sizes too large or 4 too small so I was unable to get an accurate depiction of what the dress was going to look like on myself. I am not a picky person but it truly was awful. Every critique I had about the dress, was followed by her saying that it could be fixed with a strap or removal of beads, or a completley changing the structure of the dress or some other very expensive alteration. While I did appreciate her trying to fix the problem, she never differentiated from the style of dress that she pulled ( that were huge, heavy and had about 15 layers of tulle). My consultant never helped me by adjusting any of the dresses, ( she also never helped me put any of them on either). She never helped fluff the train or hold it so I could walk. My future mother in law had me attempt to tuck the material between my legs to see what the dress could look like on her knees. Her reaction to my family having to help was was very aloof. She also didn't seem like she had a very good knowledge of the inventory of the store. She would leave me on the stage in a dress that was very uncomfortable for several minutes while looking for "just the dress" and return with the exact same style that i had told her I didn't want. I stated what I wanted several times to her. I didn't even leave the dressing room to show my party a few of the dresses and she would argue with me. The last and perhaps the largest issue I had was that all of the dresses either myself or my guests chose were continuously intentionally placed to the back of the rack to try on by her. When my mother and cousin moved them to the front, she moved them to the back again and seemed annoyed. When my mom asked " can we please see her in this dress?" after about the 9th dress that I didn't like , my mom was ignored and was given a sour attitude. This was my second bridal appointment ever trying on a wedding dresses and I can tell you that if I hadn't had such a positive experience at the shop i had been to earlier in the day, I would have been in tears and this would have ruined the bridal dress experience. I'm writing this review based off my terrible experience in the hopes that the shop management will read it and make some major changes in how they treat their customers.

She asked if I had inspiration pictures, which I showed her, and I explained that I was open to trying different styles but that I was specifically looking for a whimsical, flowy, fairy-like wedding dress. I had seen several online that I loved, so I came in genuinely excited and hopeful. Unfortunately, I wasn't really given the opportunity to choose many of the dresses I tried on. I did pick one myself that I absolutely LOVED, but I was told they couldn't alter it for me. After that, I was brought about five other dresses that were almost the complete opposite of what I had described. I kept explaining, respectfully, that I didn't like the glam, elegant style they were bringing me and that I was looking for something much more whimsical and fairy-like. Instead of trying something closer to what I had shown them, they kept trying to make the dresses I disliked work by adding belts and other details that I had already said I didn't want. Eventually, I was told that they had spoken with the manager and that there was nothing within my approximately $500 budget that fit what I was looking for. At that point, I felt pretty defeated. I had seen plenty of dresses online that were within my budget and fit the style I wanted, so I was confused by that conclusion. With about 15 minutes left in my appointment, I asked if I could look through the dresses myself. I was told to be quick. I found two dresses that were within my budget and were actually much closer to what I had been describing the entire appointment. I couldn't understand why I hadn't been shown those dresses in the first place. However, I was then told I could only try on one of them. The entire experience started to feel less like someone was trying to help me find my wedding dress and more like my preferences were being ignored. I felt like my time was being wasted on dresses that were completely outside of what I had asked for and dresses that felt more suited to a completely different age and style than what I was looking where dresses I wanted were barely considered. I was repeatedly told that I would never find something like what I wanted within my budget. I left feeling defeated, and almost in tears, only to go home and, within about 10 minutes, order a dress I had already had sitting in my cart from another company for $399. It is actually closer to my vision than the dresses I was told I couldn't find. Another thing that really bothered me was that I specifically told my stylist that I wanted a flower crown instead of a veil because I was trying to help her understand the overall look I wanted. Instead of incorporating that into the vision, she repeatedly tried to convince me to wear a veil or add a veil. I had to say three times i didn't want one. And then came the most humiliating part of the appointment: they started bringing out flower girl dresses for me to try on. I am a 27-year-old woman shopping for my wedding dress. After spending the appointment explaining the vision I had for myself, being handed flower girl dresses felt incredibly degrading. It honestly made me feel like I was being made fun of or that my vision was being treated like a joke. I didn't feel like a bride-to-be at all in that moment. I was also repeatedly told to essentially "pretend you're walking down the aisle" and that I would understand the vision once I pictured myself walking down the aisle. I understand wanting a bride to visualize her wedding day, but that doesn't make sense when the dress itself is something I've already said I dislike. I'm not going to hate a dress, imagine an aisle, and suddenly decide the dress is beautiful. The dress needs to actually reflect what I like. Overall, it felt like they were trying to talk me out of almost everything I came in wanting rather than helping me find a way to achieve the look. I'm not a picky person, and I was very open about trying different things. But when I specifically say I don't like something, I don't understand why the response is to repeatedly bring me that exact thing, or try to convince me that I should like it. I'm ultimately very happy with the dress I purchased ELSEWHERE. I just hope David's Bridal can work with their stylists on listening to brides and staying within the ideas and preferences they've communicated. Trying something outside of a bride's comfort zone can be great when it's done thoughtfully. But there's a big difference between encouraging a bride to be open-minded and completely disregarding what she has told you she wants. I came in excited to find my wedding dress and left feeling embarrassed, defeated, and like the things I was excited about were being crushed. That's unfortunately not how a bride should feel leaving a wedding dress appointment. AND looking at these other reviews, doesn't seem like I'm the only one.

I was warned that a new dress would be cheaper, but I didn't want to risk it not arriving in time or the sizing still being not quite right. It was well worth the cost to have the dress fit perfectly. Oksana instantly saw the problems and got to work when I arrived at her shop. It took 45 minutes for her to pin everything in place, and I really appreciated her thoroughness and focus. In the end she had to hem it and take it in significantly at the waist and under the arms, which involved multiple layers of different fabrics, removal and reapplication lace appliques and an attached belt, and reshaping the entire top. She priced out each individual alteration so I knew exactly how much it would cost for each step. The turnaround time was very fast for how much work she had to do and how busy her shop is, and when I came back to try it on it was perfect. I received many compliments and plan on wearing it to future formal events.
