Don't trust that an alteration will be made for your upcoming wedding event. Awful customer service.

Very attentive service but not pushy and overselling things. Their tailoring service is top notch. That woman is a genius. Also they are very open to helping you find the best deals. I thought their clothing, in the past, was expensive but going there for my husbands work clothing was comparable to JC Penney and Macy's. We had been to the other location in Short Pump and did not have good customer service but we saw a sale they were having on shirts and gave this location a try. We were helped by Matt Patterson, Assistant Manager, and he went out of his way to help us even though he was already helping another couple. The store was busy so all the associates were helping others but he took his time to get my shirt size measured and then helped with selecting the shirts I had in mind. When they didn't have my shirt size in stock he said they would ship them to my house free of charge. Even though Matt was very busy he was respectful to us and the others he was waiting on and we didn't mind waiting when he was answering some questions from the other customers. Reading some of the other reviews, give this place another shot and ask for Matt. read more

My husband needed a new black suit; the store in Midlothian, VA was recommended. We will not recommend the store to others based on what we felt were misleading sales practices. After finding a jacket that fit, there were no coordinating pants available in store. We asked the salesman if the pants came with the jacket and were told yes, and that my husband would be contacted to come in and then they would be tailored to fit. As we were checking out, the jacket was rung up as were the pants, for an additional charge; the additional cost was completely unexpected. When the pants arrived and my husband went to be fit, then he was charged an alterations fee; again, unexpected and not communicated. In total, we paid nearly $500; only a fraction of the cost was communicated. We feel these additional charges should have been clearly communicated to us and would like that to be true for future customers. Jos. A. Bank might be a national chain, but this particular location served us well for our wedding. My husband and I went in looking for groom/groomsmen attire, but we almost left empty-handed. Let me explain: We were married outside on a private farm with our reception held in a converted barn. Although our theme was rustic elegance, it wasn't the place for a classic tuxedo. And to be honest, even if our venue had been something else entirely, we likely wouldn't have gone for tuxes. However, you can't rent suits and we thought asking the groomsmen to purchase a suit would be way more expensive than asking them to rent a tux. So we went into Jos. A. Bank hoping to find a tux that looked like a suit. Well after thumbing through the rental book, we were not impressed with what we saw and decided we'd need to take a different approach to the male wedding attire. We were almost out the door when the sales associate suggested we look at suits instead. He quickly followed up his suggestion with the assurance that some of their suits are actually cheaper than a tux rental. We still weren't totally sold, but we were all the way out in Midlo and we didn't have a great Plan B so we decided to take a look. The sales associate was an older gentleman, extremely knowledgeable about the suiting and not at all pushy. This last part is probably why we ended up staying to look at suits - neither my husband nor I like to feel pressured when shopping, and we felt just the right balance of freedom to explore the racks while also receiving guidance from the expert. We ended up finding the perfect suit that, indeed, was slightly cheaper than the cost of a tux rental. The process of ordering the suits was super easy and the in-house alterations for my husband resulted in a suit that fit like a glove. The guys all looked dashing on the wedding day, and I'm happy to report that my not-a-fan-of-shopping husband was pleased with the entire experience. read more

Rude staff. Told my husband that a Regular jacket made him look FRUMPY and made his legs look SHORT. Who says stuff like this? Also the salesman, Michael, is not knowledgeable. Didn't realize that the suit we were looking at also came in a tailored fit so only gave my husband the slim fit which was wrong for him. Manager had to clue him in. Only then were we handed the tailored fit. I mean this is very basic suit stuff 101. This store is filled with the rudest and most obnoxious salesmen and management. I go to Short Pump. Everyone is nice up there. Midlothian sucks! read more

My wife had an important business dinner that I had to attend, and dress nice as well. I forgot my dress shirt at home, and had to be at the restaurant (30 minutes away) in about 45 minutes. I brought in the pants, belt and shoes so I could get a shirt to go with them...the store manager was fantastic... He took a couple measurements, asked me a few style questions and in about a minute had a selection of shirts out. He then took the shirt I picked to the back and had it ironed for me. I was out the door in about 10 minutes! Lifesaver! I totally recommend this store. It's about time for a wardrobe upgrade and I'll definitely be shopping here. read more

Good quality merchandise....but the service was horrendous. We went in with an appointment for wedding attire and the attendant was not very knowledgeable and not attentive at all....ringing and bagging up other customers while we waited and waited and waited some more. We left and went elsewhere...difference between night and day. Would not recommend (perhaps it's just this location as others have suggested, but I , for one , am not willing to find out.) read more

I purchased a suit from this company for a wedding I was in this past Saturday. I got fitted back in May and paid for the suit at that time. When I checked out, I thought everything I needed was in the bag (shoes, pants, shirt, belt) and all I needed was the suit jacket to be fit. Due to a major sickness over the summer, I was not able to be fit for the jacket until September. I was given a promise date of October 3rd. I went to the store on October 3rd and the suit jacket was not ready and wouldn't be until the following day. I picked up my suit jacket on Oct 4th and made my way down to where the wedding would be held the next day. When I got dressed the day of the wedding (Oct 5th), I quickly realized that I did not have my pants. I drove and hour and a half back to Jos A Bank to pick them up, only to find out the pants had not been hemmed. I was told the jacket and the pants had to be hemmed together but this was not done. The person working at the store offered to send me somewhere to get the pants hemmed as they did not have a seamstress that day. I did not have time and drove and hour and a half back to the wedding with 10 minutes to spare. The pants were not hemmed, but marked in various places with chalk. I was embarrassed as a Groomsmen to be standing in front of a crowd with unhemmed, marked up pants. The top button on the jacket popped off when I took the jacket off after one event, as well. The store has offered to re-hem the pants but would not offer a refund. For a $500+ suit, I expected more out of it and this company. read more

So- the guys here are super nice. They got us the right suit/tux and vests! But - my 2 year old who was measured and had his tux ordered to rent received his tux today , 2 days before my wedding with all the wrong sizes. The claimed these were the smallest sizes they had that I should see a tailor to get it pinned. I was not happy.. Due to all of this we returned the tux. They knew there smallest sizes and instead of telling us they sent us the wrong sizes and now we had to hurry out and find a back up. Thank goodness my child is cute because he won't be matching daddy and I'm quite upset. read more

My husband went into this location on Monday to rent a tux for this weekend, as we won tickets to the Grammys last week. I was getting my dress altered and walked over from the alterations shop about 10 minutes after he got there. The man who was helping my husband (my husband's name is Jason Smith so that maybe you can look up who helped him) was extremely rude to me. He had my husband checking out by the time I walked in. I asked if I could see what he was ordering (we are going to the grammys so I wanted us to match and look really good) and the man said "no. It's too late. I already pressed confirm." Then he is explaining that we have to pay a late fee because we won't be back in 48 hours and I asked if there was a Jos a bank in NYC that we could drop it off to in order to save on the fees and he said "probably, but I already pressed send so I can't change anything." Then I asked what the tux even looked like and the man ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME and said " It's just a black and white tux. " In the world the way it is becoming today businesses need to be leary of treating women as second class citizens. My husband was SHOCKED by the way that the man was dismissing me but didn't want to make a scene. Wives ARE the ones a lot of the time that need to help their husbands pick their suits so that they match their wives. I will be SURE to share with my many friends with husbands and significant others the fact that this Jos A Bank treats women like second class citizens who don't get a vote in anything and don't deserve to speak. Love the company and products. This review is based around this one location. And if they are not making commission on you they don't care. The salesman I had was wonderful. He works part time and has another job, but know how to help. The manager was helpful to him when I was in the store (we get back to the manager later). I was at the register cashing out and the shirts wrong up to a different price than I thought. The assistant manager came out and said those are large sizes with snide attitude. I ask why the price is different on your website and as rude as can be came back with "you don't know what you are looking at". Then in a dismissive hand jester and walked away. I was dumbfounded and asked if the manager could call me to discuss the situation. The manager never called, so I contacted the store. Manager did not want to talk and said that is the price. I see how concerned they are to keep customers. And the saga continues, wanted to get dress shirts and they had a complete attitude about buying shorts and using a gift card. Never going there again. It's a shame because I like the quality of the clothing. read more

If I could give half of a star, I would. The worst customer service out of all of the places I went. My boyfriend went to Jos A. Bank to find a suit. We had been in Mens Wearhouse previously, so we had an idea about the type of suit that we wanted. As soon as we walk in we are greeted by a woman, and she says that the gentleman would help. I did not catch their names, but they were both African american and the gentleman had dreads and a "custom suit" that looked 2 sizes too small. The woman took my boyfriends measurements and said that the man would help us. My boyfriend explained that he was not looking to spend too much, and that he just needed a suit for an engagement party that was coming up in 2 weeks. The gentleman came over and proceeded to tell us that he would not work with us, because he honestly hates working with wedding parties. He said that he has stuff that could be a fit, but that he would actually recommend a custom fit suit, which would take 3 weeks, instead of stuff off the rack. He said that we were too last minute and should try H&M or Express. He did not show us one suit, before basically telling us to go somewhere else. He had an attitude, so much that my boyfriend told him that it looks like hes having a bad day and asked if we should come back the next day. it was awful. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a suit. Completely unprofessional, negative, and just an overall bad experience. My suggestion: Have people in there that actually care about the customers. Im glad that we didn't push to purchase a suit from here, because judging by the quality of the customer service, I can't imagine they care much when tailoring suits/taking measurements. read more
