We walked out after our wasted 20 minutes in this establishment. The gentleman that was helping us must not enjoy his job and/or customer interaction. He moved in a very slow pace and wasn't very helpful at all. The purpose of our visit was to line up tuxedos for our wedding. The key to picking out colors is having samples. Would you believe that they only had two ivory samples of the over a dozen that their binder shows available and the samples weren't even remotely close in person to what the shades were in the binder? I'm sorry but this is not the way to order anything. You want to know, not guess and hope it's what you want. And why is it that prom season would have anything to do with this store not having more samples on hand? Not a good excuse to having next to nothing to show potential customers. Very disappointing and we drove all the way from Charles Town, WV. read more

I spent a fortune at a Banks that was closing and was told to go to the Frederick store to have pants altered have they were marked to take in. When i get to the store they say they need to be drycleaned and its not free. Bunch of liars. Ill never set foot in there again. ZERO STARS read more

Awesome customer service and fair prices! We were in a bind and needed a suit in 3 days. The woman who worked here got us a suit (which fit beautifully off the rack), shoes, tie, and hemmed the pants on the spot so that we didn't have to make the hour trip back to the store, all for a super reasonable price, less than what we would have paid elsewhere. Would 100% recommend and will go there again! read more

I went to get a couple suits, shirts, pants, and a sport coat. They shipped clothes to the wrong address, and when I asked them to just hold them at the store, they ignored me and sent them again. While the address is correct, they insisted that it had been delivered, but the tracking number says that the clothes haven't even been picked up for delivery yet. On top of it all, I asked for my suit pants to be cuffed, but they came back plain hemmed instead. I was very frustrated and found the service to be unreliable in my experience. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I was going in with hopes to find a suit. When I walked in there I was greeted by employees that didn't seem busy. I told them I needed a suit for 2 upcoming weddings. Nobody came up to help me, I walked around trying to find an employee until I saw somebody who seemed to taking a measurement of his own head??? I was ignored and disregarded. I then had asked this older woman for help. She was the most rudest lady I have ever met. She did not offer to take measurements. She said I would only be able to find black and blue suits in there store and anywhere else. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but it got worse from there. I then asked if I could try on one of the jackets and she laughed and said they were too tall/short for me. She judged me right off the bat and she most likely assumed I didn't have any money. She asked me how soon the wedding was and laughed in my face when I told her it was 2 weeks away. She said good luck, chuckled, and walked away. I have never ran out of a store faster. I then went to Men's Warehouse in Frederick, where I was greeted by the most polite and courteous staff. I had a complete opposite experience and walked out with the suit that day. I will never recommend Jos A. bank, but instead Men's Warehouse. read more

So this was my first time in this store and it's pretty cool. They have a large selection of men dress and casual shirts. Tons of blazers and sports coats. You can get a suit personalized by their own tailor. They also have some really cool trendy sweaters. The sales associate that helped me today was very authentic and reasonably able about her suggestions for my needs. The reason for the four stars is how they price their clothes. I pay d reasonable prices but for instance a shirt I bought said $99 which is too much, it was actually $29. That was great I just am wondering why is there such a price drop? I'm s it really works h $90 to begin with. It paints the picture of faux luxury to me. read more

I began shopping here in late 2016. I have no complaints. I believe it is under new management and all the 1 star reviews are from the past. I rented a tuxedo through this store for my wedding. The week before the wedding, I picked up my suit, tried it on, and took it home. As the day neared though, my fiance and I became uncomfortable with the color/fit of the rental so we started looking for different options. Two days before the wedding we were in the store, putting together a suit, and we could't of done it without a certain employee's superb customer service. When we had pieced together my outfit, I realized that my shirt didn't accept cuff links. No problem, she offered to take it home to her mother and sew cuff link holes into the shirt and have it ready on my wedding day. Great experience at this store. read more

Bought a suit there and that was pretty painless, got measured for tailoring, simple enough. Picked up suit after receiving a call that was it all completed. Went to the event I was scheduled to attend, put suit on , tailoring horrible, not at all correct and what was done was sloppy, I also noticed that threads was coming undone at crotch. Noticed some threads at left arm suit jacket coming undone. Called and spoke to manager, he asked if I bought suit from him, I replied" no "I worked with a lady, his response was " you should have worked with me" , wow what a response! He did offer to have suit tailored again but my thought is that you had a chance to do it right the first time and now looking at the poor quality of the suit I'm not sure it could take it. I really think that the suit is not the one I purchased or thought I purchased. Heck you probably could find a better quality suit at Walmart and just go to your local dry cleaner/seamstress. Huge Disappointment and to add insult to injury the manager has customer service skills that are seriously lacking. It is great every time you turn around Jos. A Bank is advertising a sale, but if the suit is of poor quality and the tailoring is haphazard at best, are you really getting a deal ? or are you getting screwed. read more

Just left the store, disappointed. I have purchased many pairs of the Travelers pant in the past, mostly taking advantage of the Buy 1 get 2 deal, which has been done away with. Maybe 12 pairs in the last 5 yrs. I love them. About 6 weeks ago, wardrobe malfunction with a zipper failure. Came right off the track. Embarrassed! Last week, same thing with a different pair. Looking closely, realized the fail was at the same spot on the zipper!! Looking at my other pairs, there were 4 other pairs that were starting to fail, but had not yet, in the same exact spot. Brought all of them in to the store, one nice lady was unclear what to do, thought it was fabric getting stuck in it. The Manager, (I guess, never introduced himself) looked at one pair, asked me when I bought them and checked the computer and his response was: it must be because they were more than a yr old and it must be where my body is putting stress on the pants (?!?!?!), that is why they were failing in the same spot. Need a Zipper expert to tell me this is true! He said there was nothing he could do. With all the other pairs I have gone thru, not sure why it is the 1st time in 5 + yrs it has happened. Surely NOT going to by any more, cause I cant afford the embarrassment in front of my employees or patients.Very disappointed. read more

My friend had his groomsmen buy suits online so I took it here to get it tailored. They said I should order the next size up. It would be easier to bring the seems in than to let the seems out. I did so and they took measurements and said they'd call me when it was ready. I never got a call for over a week after the promise date. So I called and they said it was ready. A call would've been nice. Other than that though they seemed friendly and knowledgeable. Although the lady tailor was very hard to understand. read more

Joseph A. Banks has a great policy where they will repair tears and normal wear and tear on their clothing free of charge. I used to live in Westminster, MD and bought all my work clothes from the Joseph A. Banks located there and had a few repairs done. I know live in Frederick. So one day while dry cleaning my pants I noticed a tear in the waist band and decided to bring it in to Frederick like I had done at the Westminster store I go up to the salesperson at the counter in the Frederick store and explain the tear. She looks at her manager behind her, and tells me "the tailor is out until Monday" (it is a Friday) like that is to deter me from getting the pants fixed. I told her "I'm not in a rush. This isn't urgent". She looks at her manager again, and says "they have to be dry cleaned first, it's our policy before making repairs". I responded, "well, like I said, I found the tear after dry cleaning". She continues to go through a laundry list of poor excuses that make little sense, each time looking back at her manager. Finally, he comes around the desk and takes a look at the pants and tells me I need to clean them again because there is a "stain". I ask where and he points to a clean pair of pants. At this point, I get the point, they don't want to help me for whatever reason, so I just walk out. I immediately called the Westminster store (which is now 45 minutes from where I live) and they tell me to please come up and they will gladly take care of the pants. That SAME DAY, I drive 45 minutes Westminster store, they take the pants, no complaints, no manager, and they agree to replace the waist band. 2 weeks later they are returned good as new. One more comment for good measure. I shopped in the Frederick store one time previously to shop for work clothes and their business clothing is very limited/non-existent. But it you want that 1990's frat boy look, than this is the store for you. read more

I have purchased suits at multiple Jos. A. Bank stores, and am generally satisfied with their product. The Frederick location has stopped me from spending another dollar at any of their stores. Last November, I purchased 2 suits, a few shirts, and some ties. After tailoring was returned, I went in to try on the suits, and neither fit. The nice and helpful lady that helped me blamed the gentleman that did the measuring. She measured again and re-ordered the 2 suits. After a few more weeks, I was contacted to pick up the suits. I visited the store with the receipt, but they could not find the suits in their store. Embarrassed, they asked that I give them time to locate them and would call me when they located the items. Two days later, they found them and called me, but when I went in, they couldn't find them again. After several more days, they called and I picked up the suits. I have worn one of these suits approximately 10-15 times since January. I recently noticed the fabric was wearing away in the inner leg. This morning, I brought the suit in to show the manager and explore options. I was told by the manager that it was due to the tailored fit and this wear is not unexpected. He said the 9 months was outside of the 90 day warranty, and he could only offer me a discount on a new suit purchase. He asked if I expected the suit replaced, and I said absolutely. I asked the manager if he would be satisfied if he bought a suit and it only lasted 9 months before needing replaced. It was at this point, he told me "if I only spent $250 dollars on a suit and wore it everyday, I wouldn't try to return it." I told him again it had only been worn 10-15 times, but he evidently didn't believe me. It was at this point I decided I will no longer spend another dollar at Jos. A. Bank. read more

So in the continuing saga of the Jos A Bank store from hell in Columbia, I really wanted to take advantage of my companies corporate discount, so I left that store and thought that surely, they couldn't all be that messed up. So I went to this Frederick Store, fully on the defensive (read my review from the Columbia store to understand why), and ready to walk out and go back to Mens Warehouse. I was pleasantly greeted, asked what I was looking for, and shown several different items of interest, all related to exactly what I was looking for. The sales lady I was dealing with was well attune to not only mens fashion, but professional business fashion. Further, she didn't take me to things I really had no interest in. Compared to the debacle of the Columbia store that I endured (2 hours of non-sense), I was in and out of this store, perfectly satisfied with what I purchased, and exactly what I was looking for, in under 30 mins. Further, I told them about my issue, so they knocked an additional 5 pct off of one of the sale items I was buying as a good gesture for giving this store a chance. I couldn't have been happier with my transaction for this store. It's moves like that, and class like that, that will have me coming back to that store in the near future. Great Job!! read more

First off, when I went in I was left about 15 minutes before being asked if I needed anything (two employees were chatting behind the register during this time), then when one employee does finally ask me what I need help with, I get pushed off to another salesperson who is working with another gentleman already. I could tell he wasn't happy about the situation and wasn't really listening to me as I described the occasion (my upcoming wedding) and what I was looking for. I felt I was being hurried through because I was dressed in jeans at the time and only looking to buy one suit whereas the other gentleman looked wealthier and probably had a nice big order to put in. My husband wears a suit every day, and we have been in and out of several Jos A Bank locations over the years. This location is our favorite. Great service, great staff. They all remember us each time we come in, which is appreciated and unusual these days! They will work with you and do what it takes to make sure you leave happy. The reason for 4 stars is simply because Jos A Bank in general is not my favorite store--nothing to do with this location. read more

Copy of an e-mail to them, shortened to fit. I am writing to inform you that my experience with your Frederick, MD location was not well. My boyfriend is attending a career fair at his college on September 13th, and wished to purchase 2 suits for the fair, but also for his pending internship. We walked into the store, and there was a woman folding shirts who completely ignored our presence, and did not even say hello (this continued for the other customers who entered). Our initial sales associate was relatively friendly, and assisted him in finding a suit that would roughly fit him. When time came for a dress shirt, the associate fitted him for one with French cuffs that fit him well. He marked the alterations, and we were told that they would be ready by September 10th, and that he would be called. The second time I accompanied him into the store was to return two dress shirts that he had used his rewards money on. At the time of purchase, he was told that they would fit him, so he took them home and tried them on - it turned out that they were far too short for my boyfriend (he is 6' 6" tall, and needs a longer shirt length). Upon coming back into the store, the sales associates were talking about him within earshot saying such things as "Why is he back in again?" While we were being assisted, we let the associate know that he needed an 18.5" neck on his shirt, but needed something longer than what he purchased. We were met with a horrible attitude by the Department Manager, Unberto Saunders, who rudely informed my boyfriend that the only way he's going to get a longer shirt is if he also gets a longer sleeve. He insisted that the shirts my boyfriend initially purchased would fit him, despite my boyfriend having tried the shirt on in front of them so they could visually see that the shirt would not have stayed tucked into the waistband of his suit pant. After Unberto mentioned that the sleeves would be too long, I mentioned that they could be tailored, and it wasn't a big deal, he just needed more length in the shirt tail. He then met me with an extremely rude rebuttal and told me that a dress shirt sleeve could not be shortened. I asked him "Why not?" and he proceeded to flip down a cuff of a folded dress shirt on a table to point to it and ask "How are you going to shorten that? Look at it! There's no way that can be shortened." Now, I am a hobby seamstress and have made all manner of clothing in my spare time, and I know very well that a shirt sleeve can be shortened. I mentioned to him that it would be a simple alteration to take the cuff off, shorten it, and re-attach it to the sleeve. He walked toward the back in a huff to ask the seamstress if it was possible, and another sales associate proceeded to talk to me and let me know that a shirt sleeve could in fact be shortened, and that it wouldn't be a very pricey alteration. Unberto returns from the back to tell me the same information, and that the shirt sleeve could be shortened 2". No apology for his rudeness or the fact that he was blatantly incorrect, whatsoever. We finally find shirts that would be long enough to fit my boyfriend, and we go to the register to make the exchange. Unberto was unsure of whether or not the items could be exchanged because they had used his rewards on the two dress shirts. He takes about 10 minutes to do the return, but finally figures out how to do the even exchange, and we leave, I was furious that he didn't even bother to apologize for his rudeness. Forward a week to September 10th when my boyfriend's suits would supposedly be ready for pickup. He did not receive a phone call noting that the suits had been finished, and I ended up calling the store from work that evening to see if they were ready. I was told that they were and that I could come in any time to pick them up. I recommended that my boyfriend go in today (September 11), to pick them up so that he would be able to try them on before we take them home. They fit well, but I noticed that the waistband inside the pants of both of his suits had only been tacked closed, and not completely sewn shut. I was able to see the fusible on the inside of the waistband and almost completely flip it inside out in a few places. I made note of it and made sure to bring it up at the register. We told Unberto and the other associate that they fit, but I mentioned that the seam wasn't finished on the waistband. The associate looked surprised when I showed him that it was only tacked closed, and Unberto asked "Isn't it supposed to be that way?" I told him no, and that I had made sure to compare it with another suit that had been hanging on the rack. I mentioned that the waistband should be sewn shut completely and you should not be able to almost flip it completely inside out to see the inner workings of the waistband. I was told they would be ready by Tuesday morning, so we will see. read more

Had a very poor experience overall when using this location to rent tuxedos for my wedding. It became clear to me very quickly upon arrival that I was a low priority customer. I'm not sure if this is because tuxedo rentals are not profitable and they'd rather sell suits, because I was currently dressed myself in shorts and a T shirt, or maybe the employees were disinterested, only they can tell you. A tall gentleman with grey hair who I'm assuming was the manager handled me at first. They sat me down with my fiancee and a book of tuxedos and walked away, providing no insight or help into the choices we had available to us. We were on our own. After we had decided what type of tuxedo to get and some of our other choices, the gentleman and a trainee finally got around to measuring me. Eventually, what seemed like halfway through the measurement process, the phone rang, the gentlemen left without a word to answer it, and never returned to me. The woman he was training stood there with me for about a minute and said "I guess you are with her now" handed me a slip and pointed to another employee, and walked away. Apparently I was done being measured? As I was waiting to finish the tuxedo ordering process via finalizing my decisions and paying, another group came in that was apparently doing the same thing as me, but appeared to be receiving priority attention. As far as I could tell, they were also renting tuxedos. As this is going on, I'm sitting at the desk, twiddling my thumbs. I got the impression that my business wasn't wanted and considered leaving, but this was the only choice I had. I had to complain to an employee who I had yet to interact with named Angela (who was very pleasant, accommodating, and redeemed the experience, unlike the manager and trainee). She apologized for sort of leaving me stranded and got me on my way in about 10 minutes. The visit lasted about 1.5 hours, and should've taken about 30 minutes total. The store was not terribly busy, the staff just did not seem interested in helping me, as though I was a bother to them for wasting their time. read more
