So he comes and charges $99. And it would go towards the repair if decided to move forward. He comes and takes about 5-10 minutes and tells me it is the igniter and it would be $347. for total. I already had done my research and know that the part is $35 and I could pickup from a local appliance part store in Montgomery County. Or order directly from Whirlpool for under $50. So when I asked him how much is the part, He said $149. Then I asked him if he had the igniter already or would he have to order it? He said he's prepared & has it in his box. I had then asked him to see what it looked like. That's when he tells me " I cannot show that to you, I have already told you too much information about it." That's when I put an end to it. I will not put up with shady business people, businesses allowing this. I paid the $99. As first agreed and told him to get out of my house. He is an older man that needs to realize that people ( no matter the gender or race of their clients, potential and now-Never). Do not assume that the general public do not research before they reach out to you from online!!!!! The only good thing I will add: The early on communicating about eta arrival. That is the only thing he was good about. And he used my paper towel on the counter, and left the dirty used ones on my counter. The nerve! I would have NO stars, if allowed. As I had no other way to verify this, I took them at their word and accepted their explanation. For full transparency, however, it is worth noting that this communication came less than 24 hours after I had posted my initial review. The repair technician arrived at my home the same day, and spent approximately 90 minutes going back over the previous repair work and going much more in-depth in this second go-round. After completing the work, he explained what he did, what he found, and then ran a cycle through my dishwasher. The next day, I ran another cycle, and the leaking issue had been fixed. As I am someone who does believe in giving people and businesses second chances and opportunities, and because I have seen them perform excellent and professional work before (see my original review), I am likely to give them my business at least once more to see that this experience is an outlier and not their typical course of business.

A year ago Mid MD Appliance Repair fixed our oven's computer panel. They also replaced the oven…read moredoor's hinges. The door had a small crack which had overheated the panel (a known issue with Whirlpool ranges). In less than a year, the new hinges were broken again, this time leaving a much larger 1" gap. I called them thinking the hinges must be defective. The previous hinges had lasted over 11 years with only minor damage. Though it was past warranty I thought they would stand behind their work, at least offer a discount or perform some simple fix if possible. They asked if I had ever put any heavy weight on the door, like resting a pot on it, which I never had. To demonstrate the only abuse the door might receive, I opened the door and let go when it was half open. The door fell open with a clang. This seemed the excuse they were looking for and I was accused of improperly opening the door, implying you have to gently hold the door with two hands until it is fully open. They charged me $100 for the visit, gave me an estimate to replace the hinges, and left. This didn't sit right with me. I hadn't done anything differently than I have in the last 60 years of opening oven doors. Why did these new hinges last less than a year? Before I wrote this review I called them to discuss my concerns. They then yelled at me, repeating that they had seen what happened and that it was my negligence that made the hinges break. Finally, they said they didn't need to listen to me and hung up. Later, doing my own research, I found out that oven doors come with springs that prevent them from clanging open. If you open them halfway and let go, the door stays half open or gently falls open under its own weight. Possibly the spring was installed improperly when the hinges were replaced, or it had broken since the repair. If they had bothered to listen to me or ask a few questions, maybe they could have figured out what I did on my own. Instead they treated me with rudeness and ignored my concerns.
