Really great tapas spot in London, would definitely recommend for a meal or even a quick bite to eat and drinks. Service was really nice even though it was raining! I would definitely come back as it is a fairly casual spot.

Great food. Small tapas dishes. Since I don't do alcohol, I can't say anything about wine. Also. I don't eat meat. But I didn't have any trouble finding things I could eat. Plenty of veggie and seafood dishes available here. There are not many other options on Bermondsey st. So, you might struggle a bit if you decide the queue at José is too much. It can be a bit loud inside.

Outstanding food, wine and service. Started with the pan tomate and jamon iberico. Followed up with croquetas. And polished off with goat cheese covered in honey. The waiter was lovely. Highly recommend.

We originally walked passed Jose not thinking we were going to get in due to how busy it was. We took a walk and walked up and lucky had a 15 min wait which having a bottle of wine helped the time go by. The food was amazing. We bad a lovely service named Burha whom guided my wife and I through the menu and helped us figure out what amazing food to order. I would say have trust in your server. This place is amazing tapus food and and an amazing place to wine, dine and relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Enjoy

Crowded, noisy and delicious! Terrific corner spot on Bermondsey Street: grab a window or pavement stool so you can watch the cool Bermondsey types strut by. Every dish was a hit: grilled peppers, chorizo in wine and the oh-so-smooth sardines. My favourite was the sweet and creamy fried goats cheese until I tried the server's recommendation of the pork shoulder. So rare and delicious, it felt naughty to be eating partially cooked pork contrary to what my grandmother always told me! I spotted Nordes gin and indulged in a fragrant bucket-sized G&T. Over the following few days, whenever I passed this place it was full to the brim with guests. I can understand why.

What a gem. Stumbled into this VERY authentic Spanish Tapas restaurant in a charming little borough. We are Americans and had just left the Tower of London and Tower Bridge Tour and we're ready for a nice break. The restaurant was about a 5 minute walk from the Tower Bridge. We found it on Yelp. The wine was excellent. We had an Albariño and a Tempranillo that were outstanding. The food was as authentic as it gets. We had pan con tomate, jamón ibérico, clams in white wine and garlic the fried goat cheese and honey. And the almond cake. All were perfection. Highly recommend!

After a full day of walking around London, I stumbled in here in desperate need of food. 7 hours after my last meal, 15 miles walked, and 90 degree heat, I was famished. The restaurant is tiny, so being a solo traveler, I sat at the bar. Warning, they don't have AC and it's an open kitchen so I sweat more inside than I did walking around all day outside. Worth it though, the food was great. I had the squid with peas and mint, as well as the deep fried goat cheese with honey. They were both very good, especially the cheese. A tad pricier than I would've liked to spend, but enjoyed my meal.

On the pricey side but every tapa is a work of art. Perfect blend of textures and flavors, also nice play on hot and cold. Hands down some of the best tapas I had in a while. Still and sparkly water comes with the meal. Worth noting: the chicken liver, fried cheese and honey, and mushroom croquettes

No way. In Bermondsey? No way. But the way was yes, and José has now snagged the top spot as my favourite new restaurant in London. Here's why: Cold wine. Hot tapas. Open kitchen. Exposed beams. Bar seating. Wine-barrel standing. Capacity 30. No reservations. Daily market menu. Bustling. Warm. Friendly. Lamb meatballs. Sherry. White crab croquetas. Full. Sauteed beetroot. Happy. Bermondsey. Oh, and Jose Pizarro is opening another restaurant in - you guessed it - Bermondsey in early October. Yes. Way.

This place was super cute, spacious, and played some good music that paired well with the atmosphere and theme of the restaurant. The servers were very kind and knowledgeable of the menu as well. We started off with a meat platter, chargrilled bread with tomatoes along with two delicious cocktails. For our tapas we ordered the *Patatas Fritas *Crispy Pork Belly *Grilled Salmon Filet (the only dish I wasn't super crazy about) *Alitas De Pollo *Croquetas De Bacalao *Chuletas De Cordero Even after all this, there is always room for a little treat! There's no way we could leave here without ordering churros, and I'm so glad we did!! We also added a bonus sangria , because why not? This is one of my many places I will revisit when I return to London. Highly recommend. More details/descriptions in my pics :)

I'd recommend booking on weekends as it gets really busy and altho' the restaurant has just recently expanded in size, it is still buzzing with clientele. It's difficult to say what is best, but I love their rosemary manchego with quince jelly. The fish, meatballs, jambon, squid, aubergine, ah... so many fantastic dishes. It's worth seeking out if you enjoy authentic Spanish Jamon, delicious drinks and friendly staff. We lucked out with a table right at the ham counter and so we able to watch the masters carve perfect slivers of ham, and create delicious dishes in a tiny kitchen space. We were told that all their ingredients come from Spain and you'll taste the quality for sure. We started with pan con tomate which is served deconstructed. Run the bread with garlic, scoop on the fresh tomato purée, and then add olive oil and salt - delicious! We also tried beautifully presented cheese & charcuterie plates, giant garlicky prawns, albondigas and of course, delicious patatas bravas. Of course, you'll want to wash it all down with a crisp Estrellas beer, or a reasonably priced cava. My husband was happy to avail himself of a few glasses of Catalonian vermut. Staff was as friendly as could be, and prices are very fair. It's a small place so plan ahead & reserve. They take 'em, so you best make 'em!

When you open them, you can convince yourself you're in Madrid. Spanish music poured out of the speakers (except at one point when the bartender accidentally played the first few bars of AC/DC's Back in Black), hams hung everywhere and people stood around with small glasses that they filled either from small pitchers of beer or bottles of wine. I split a plate of ham, expertly sliced from the back of the room, and washed it down with a glass of Verdejo. Three pieces of pan con tomate were on the plate as well and when I bit into one of them I remarked that it was so much better than the onces I've had recently in London. I then realized that those weren't even Bar Tozio's best version of the simple dish, they were just standard accompaniments that are served with the ham. When ordered from the menu, you are presented with a wooden plate on which sits a clove of garlic, a small bottle of olive oil, a bowl of pureed tomatos and some toast. You then put everything together and pat yourself on the back for creating such an amazing snack. We also had the chipirones, which were bathed in a fresh sherry and garlic sauce, but a little too fishy for me. And dessert! Oh, dessert... I am a cheese plate kind of girl without much of a sweet tooth, but my husband ordered the Manzanilla and melon sorbet with crispy Teruel ham and I couldn't stop eating it. He thought the ham was a bit too salty which was perfect because I didn't feel bad about eating much more than half. Unfortunately I think it may have been a special for World Sherry Day (which funnily spans an entire week), but I am hoping it will be printed on the meny again and again. The staff was friendly and helpful, the sherries were sublime and the food was wonderful. I'm already planning my return.

We stumbled in on a whim, just looking for a good place to grab a bite to eat for dinner, and found a restaurant where everything was incredible. You cannot go wrong. The Patas bravas was really good, though simple. It was presented in a really cool way, with a dipping sauce on the side. The spinach croquettes were so tasty and cheesy. The yellowtail sashimi was really refreshing. The braised short rib was INCREDIBLE- so tender and flavorful. With great onion rings. The best thing we ate, by far, was the grilled octopus. It was perfectly tender and crispy at the same time. It had such good flavor and such a good sauce. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The waiter was really great, we were in between a few items and he actually decided to surprise us and picked some items for us. The aperol spritz was also really tasty and well balanced! If you're looking for a place to eat near tower bridge, you can't go wrong with Bravas! Unfortunately, the restaurant doesn't have full air conditioning--only a few lucky seats are positioned near the AC unit. We even brought portable fans, which ended up being necessary as the sun set directly into the restaurant's glass frontage, heating things up quickly. We ordered a broad selection of tapas: octopus, the salmon-wrapped sweet potato crisp, fennel salad, pork belly, spinach balls, and the bravas potatoes. The food was hit and miss. The pork belly was the highlight--flavorful and tender with a sweet glaze. However, other dishes fell flat. The fennel salad surprisingly came with canned pineapple, the spinach balls tasted like they were made with frozen spinach, and the bravas potatoes were essentially frozen fries--not what you'd expect from a place with this kind of setting and pricing. Service started out fine but slowed down significantly over the course of the meal. A couple of our dishes were forgotten entirely, and the heat made the wait feel even longer. Overall, Bravas Tapas had its moments, but between the uneven food quality, heat, and spotty service, it left us more frustrated than satisfied. It's a beautiful spot with potential, but there's room for improvement--especially when it comes to consistency and comfort.

Vegetarians and Pescatarians will not go hungry here. And, of course, meat eaters will be pleased with the selection. I was angling for the leg of lamb (meant for 2-3 persons), but my dining companions were not keen. The space is narrow, candle-lit and, on the night we dined, filled with patrons. There are two 2-tops out front and a short bar accommodating approx. four diners. 2-tops, four-tops and, at least, one larger table fill the floor. Behind the bar I spied beer, wine, port, and some spirits. Our fare was tasty & attractively arranged. We had anchovies (warning: the vinegar hit the back of our throats and made our eyes water), black rice with squid, tortilla with a ramekin of aioli, broad beans with ham and a sauteed spinach side. The last two dishes were garnished with roasted garlic clove. The service was friendly, informative and, considering how busy the resto was, not terribly slow. My tiny quibble would have been the shape of the wine glasses. They resembled a, sort of, wide-mouthed, stout cylinder, if that makes sense. It made for a bit of an awkward grip-n-sip when one drank. Raucous music reminiscent of Les Negres Vertes played over the loud speakers and made for a peppy, upbeat dining experience that I much enjoyed.

Now, thanks to Black Pig with White Pearls it also has Spanish tapas. I was a regular patron of the restaurant which used to inhabit the space so I was curious to see what the new owners had done with it. The decor is what you could call Spanish hipster; black walls and simple tables are embellished with candelabras and cardboard bull heads wearing pearls. It manages to be spare, striking, and yet homey at the same time. The people who run it are relaxed and friendly so the whole atmosphere is really pleasant. Yeah yeah, but how was the food? Delicious! We shared five plates and a dessert, all of which were tasty. The padron peppers with sea salt were perfectly done, the lamb dish was tender and flavourful, and the croquetas were light and rich at the same time. If you're interested in going, make a reservation! They were able to seat us at the bar, but you might not be so lucky. It's pricy enough so that I won't be going very often, but the next time I want to have a slightly more special meal, I'll be sure to call ahead. I might even wear pearls.
