Cheese Enchiladas(kids)
ravi c.

We were here for Saturday brunch. Made the reservation ahead through Open table and got there by the time, we were seated right away and were given chips and salsa Salsa tasted great. We ordered Short Rib Enchiladas, Chile Relleno, Cheese Quesadilla & chicken fingers for kids Also ordered Street side corn and Queso Con Rojas Queso was cold by the time we got to table, corn was okay. Short Rib Enchilada were great, Chile relleno were in very watery salsa. Cheese Enchilada and Chicken finger were ok! Fries were pretty good, kids loved them. Overall mixed bag of experience with food, great ambiance

Tried Jose recently and really enjoyed parts of the meal. I highly recommend the ceviche and the Guava Pink mocktail -- both were fresh, flavorful, and refreshing. The tetelas were good but not great for me. They could have used a bit more flavor or juiciness and felt slightly on the dry side for my taste. Big shoutout to our server and the staff -- they were really kind and accommodating. We were a little pressed for time since I had tickets to a play, and they did their best to get our food out quickly so I could eat and make it on time. Really appreciated the great service and care.

Chips and salsa

My wife, daughter and I came her for lunch. The decor is very nice, I enjoyed the vibe right away. To start they give chips and green salsa to the table for free which is always a welcome surprise! As far as drinks my wife has the frozen mango margarita, and I had the smoked tequila old fashion led and switched the Tequila out for Mezcal which ended up being a $2 up-charge that the waitress did not mention. We had a second round of drinks, we both had the Horchata Sour. All the drinks were good. We had Mango & Crab salad as an app. Overall it fresh and tasty. We had a side of Plantains which were delicious! We split the Pork Belly Tacos and the Ribeye Bowl. Our daughter got the Chicken Quesadilla. Both the Tacos & Quesadilla come with rice and beans. The Quesadilla is a good portion especially for a kid. The kids menu also is interactive and comes with crayons so the kids can be entertained which is always a plus! The Pork Belly tacos were ok but the portion for the price was disappointing. I enjoyed the flavor of the rice and beans. The Ribeye Bowl was good, they keep all ingredients in separate areas of the dish. I felt there should have been a little more rice but overall it was a good dish. The waitress disappeared for a while, I wanted hot sauce for my tacos and my daughter wanted sour cream for her quesadilla but once the food was delivered to the table she never came back to check on how everything came out. I ended up eating most of my taco and rice without hot sauce and asked a separate waitress for hot sauce. Overall the experience was enjoyable, and the food was solid. This is a restaurant with a nice vibe with good food.

A great family friendly restaurant with plenty of room for strollers or high chairs. The covered patio was lovely with a fountain. The dishes are on the higher end which is obvious with where it's located. The ribeye bowl ($22) had great quality but the portion seemed small. The langostino enchiladas ($26) come with rice but no beans, pico de gallo, sour cream, etc. Everything was good but not great. They have valet parking so we did street parking which was fairly easy to find.

Elevated Mexican food that was pretty solid. They provide chips and salsa, but it seemed like the chips were ones that I could buy from the grocery store for $2. I had a frozen hibiscus drink that was delicious and the Tacos Carbon were also pretty good. They have a super nice patio that was heated which was well needed on a cold day. There is also complimentary valet.

Love Jose's breezy and mellow atmosphere. Whether it's for their happy hour or dinner, delightful and efficient service it's been with each visit. Intoxicating are their Seasonal Frozen "Passionfruit" and "Mango Chamoy" Margaritas. As for food, while their tacos and salmon al pastor are good, excellent are their "Ceviche" and "Chile Relleno"! CHEERS!

My wife and I really enjoyed our whole meal experience here. Absolutely loved the DIY ceviche Service was great Keep in mind it's either valet parking or park somewhere along the street from across

Great setting for work lunch meeting. Love the ambience and the food and staff were excellent! Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks !

Our cocktails were all good - and the appetizers were very good. We had the crispy pork belly and the tostaditas with barbacoa. The crispy pork belly was especially delicious and I would order as my own dinner in the future. It comes with onions and sauces and corn tortillas and it's to die for - so crispy and flavorful. We ordered the Bistec enchiladas and they were good but not as good as the appetizers. They give you a variety of sauces when you're seated that you keep throughout the meal - from mild to spicy but I would say the "spicy" is on the mild side. Still good and flavorful but not unapproachable for most ppl. We had the Campechana dessert and it was a little strange. It was basically a vanilla Icecream cake with a crispy waffle cone like layering that was really hard to break until it sat a while. It was oddly addicting but also not that good? I can't explain it. We went to the cigar lounge area after dinner and had Mexican espresso martinis and watched football before heading home. There was little smoke smell but very minimal until it got later. Around 8:30 (on a Saturday night) ppl started smoking cigars and they opened the side windows and being 90degrees right now - it became less enjoyable so we decided to end the night. In the fall that room would probably be quite lovely with the windows open. They have comfortable seating and fire pits. Really more of a 4.5 out of 5. Loved the decor near the restrooms and patio too.

LOVE this place. God bless the people who came up with Las Palmas…read more First of all, please never change the queso- it is heaven sent and we always take it to-go (I'm NEVER leaving the rest behind) and it tastes even better the next day. This queso is probably the best I've ever had. BTW it is a LIL spicy but I can let that slide. Another great appetizer option would be the Nachos Al Carbon with wagyu. Super good too & honestly you can even order it for just one person as a main dish-- the serving size is big enough. BUT THE REAL STAR OF THE SHOW AT LAS PALMAS ARE THE WAGYU FAJITAS!!! Incredible. Comes with flour or corn tortillas, beans, rice, and obviously the works: sour cream, guacamole, lettuce. You know the vibes. Speaking of vibes, they're always there at Las Palmas. It is always busy but I genuinely don't care and never mind waiting an hour and a half for our table. It's worth it. This place is a confirmed staple in Dallas. Probably come here once a month if not more often. Thank you for great food and good service too- that's hard to come by nowadays. TRY THIS PLACE OUT! This is your sign!

I see that it has been more than 10 years since my last review so it is time for an update…read more We went here for a late lunch after attending an event at the American Airlines Center. There was a time when Meso Maya was the go-to for upscale Mexican in Dallas. The culinary scene in Dallas has changed so much that it is not longer the case. But the downtown Meso Maya remains an icon and continues to deliver consistently good food and service. The restaurant still has the warm ambience and remains in good condition even after all these years. It was too hot to sit on the patio so we ate indoors. The interior is smaller than I remember. The restaurant still starts you out with complimentary chips which are strips, and a smoky, spicy salsa. it was great. I started with the a mescal margarita and it was excellent. The kid had Topo Chico and the wife had Prosecco. Everyone enjoyed their drink. For entrees, the wife had her favorite, the vegetable budin, which is like a lasagna. The flavors were deep and rich. She loved it. I tried the carne tacos and they were excellent! The meat was tender and smoky. The beef had been marinated for a wonderful flavor. Good quality with no fat. I usually avoid ordering beef at restaurants because I often get more fat than meat which I detest, but not at Meso Maya. Our server Luis was very good. Present when we wanted and not when we did not. Overall, the restaurant was a hit on every level--ambience, service, and food. We like the downtown location the best and will return.

Original review: I really wanted to love this place, and I was so close to doing so. The good: the ambiance was cute and fun. Loved the decorations, the bar is big and takes up a lot of the area where some of the tables are making it a little crowded but that's not a big deal. They had a performer there that night and that was cool. The item we were so excited to try was the biggest disappointment, the chicharon! It looked so good but it was so bland and chewy. We thought it might have been undercooked and ordered another second and asked them to cook it longer but alas it was like chewing on nothing. And that is the common denominator with all the food here. It was so bland. The only item I enjoyed was the jalapeño and cheese sausage. The salsa was bland. The meats were bland. The chicken was overcooked and dry. The drink in the bowl was good. But other than that the meal was a disappointment which is truly sad because we were looking forward to the meal, and it was pricey too. Had the food been good we wouldn't have been bothered by the price. We needed some flavor that day.
