Brisket. Get the full pound...it will go fast.

We are solid BBQ fans and Joplin's is the best we have had in SoCal. Granted, its not Texas or Carolina good, so keep it in perspective. The brisket was good, but could've used a little more smoke. The pulled pork is the real standout--moist, flavorful and pulled just right. Its a small place with good service and very good BBQ. Side note, get the garlic slaw but skip the fries--tasty, but a tiny portion.

Food.Drinks.Rock&Roll. That's their tagline and on Sunday The 805 Supper Club came to see what Joplins was all about. With a unique fusion of flavors, that is really what sets them apart. This is not your typical barbecue joint. It is very unique and isn't that what Ojai is all about? We had 16 members in attendance and not one of them had a complaint about their food! Great portions and amazing flavor and good quality. The weather was beautiful for patio seating and the rock 'n' roll was filling the air. Thank you to Brittany and Elizabeth for taking such good care of us. The majority of us had never been to Joplins before but I can guarantee you will have repeat customers. We appreciate you accommodating our large group! Congratulations to Millie for winning the gift card. if you've never heard of Joplins the drive is worth it I promise you!

Love this place! If you're feeling bbq in Ojai this is the spot to hit! Amy is one of the most passionate people I've met and they also serve up food on Wednesday at the Ojai brewery if you're feeling bbq and a nice cold one with music.

Absolutely incredible experience at Joplins in Ojai--this place is a must-visit. The smoked pork belly rice bowl was outstanding--packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. Every bite hit. You can tell a lot of care goes into the food here, and it shows. And the banana pudding... next level. Easily one of the best desserts I've had in a long time--rich, balanced, and impossible to stop eating. What really elevated the whole experience was the service. A true 10/10. A special shoutout to the owner, Brittany, who was amazing--so accommodating, friendly, and clearly passionate about what she's built. This is one of those places you leave already planning your next visit. Highly, highly recommend.

My husband and I came in right when Joplin's opened, and instantly fell in love with the gothic rock-and-roll vibe. It's such a true reflection of the owners--cool, welcoming, and absolutely full of personality. This is the kind of place where you instantly feel safe and included, where all people are welcome (yes, even the pop lovers). Now, the burger... yes. It's so good I genuinely considered ordering a second while I was still eating the first. They know how brisket should be made, they know their sides, and they clearly know what they're doing in the kitchen. Ojai is lucky to have these two dedicated hospitality talents. They're bringing a much-needed edge to the community, and you can feel how much heart they're pouring into creating something special for everyone to enjoy. Highly recommend.

Such a gem. Unique rock n roll ambience and menu with chef Saw's take on BBQ. Loved the brisket noodles with garlic chili oil, sausage and fries. Excited to come back next time we're in town!

BBQ Chicken Caesar salad and BBQ Brisket Ramen.

Exactly what I want in a BBQ restaurant. Funky fun decor, always love a Pink Floyd poster, comfortable outdoor picnic tables, dog friendly and the food is amazing. The hostess was very knowledgeable and helpful with food choices, she also had a sassy attitude which we enjoyed. My sister got the Caesar salad with barbecue chicken and I got brisket Ramen. The Caesar salad was delicious, a tangy dressing with crispy lettuce and chicken was perfect. I am still thinking about the flavor profile of the Ramen from the jammy soy egg to the best BBQ brisket, noodles with the chew I love and oh the broth. We were doing our food happy dance and talking about our next visit to Joplin's.

Came in for opening night- it was FANTASTIC. We will be going back again soon to try the rest of the menu! Reservations (RESY) Recommended! We sat in a booth in the smallish inside dining room, which was nice, but look forward to trying the patio as well! Tonight we did the Korn Ribs, Joplin's Burger, The Salmon, Cardamom Glazed Carrots, Collards, and Baked Mac n Cheese. The flavors are unexpected and off the charts. It's not just a good burger. It's a burger that you bite into and start asking yourself, "What is that wonderful flavor going on there..." (think I would've appreciated the bun toasted, but that's me); the Carrots were a flavor-bomb revelation; the Salmon was House-cured and then broiled to perfection, the corn was spicy salty savory and delicious. The standout hit was the baked mac & cheese, sprinkled with perfect crispy breadcrumbs, it was the creamiest, tastiest, most comforting homemade Mac I've had in forever. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, the whole staff seemed really nice and were having a great time. Music overhead was classic hard rock which was a really fun vibe (Bowie, AC/DC, Janis, Korn, Ace Frehley, Zep). Bathrooms are decorated to the teeth with classic band bills, flyers and posters. Welcome to Ojai, Joplin's!

The Brisket burger that ruined all burgers for me.

Best. Burger. Ever. Joplin's brisket burger is pure flavor perfection--no condiments, just house-made pickles and expertly smoked brisket turned into a smoked burger. I've eaten burgers from NYC to Texas to all over the USA, and nothing comes close. Worth $30, but somehow not priced that way. 5 stars, no hesitation!

The tea leaf salad is delicious, don't get me wrong. But one order is $13 on the menu. I got two of them because the portion isn't exactly generous. Their beef curry is $19 - and to my utter shock, what I got was a container that held around seven tablespoons of meat and sauce. To add insult to injury, the beef curry was NOT made fresh. The waiter just pulled it out of their giant refrigerator and then packed it in a to go bag. The final insult is that for just these three items I had to pay $52. Not even all of these combined will keep me full. I could've probably just gone to Jollibee and gotten a ten piece bucket for $30. At least it would've been freshly cooked and absolutely filling. And I'd be able to take home leftovers. I support local businesses, sure, but the underlying assumption is that they charge a fair price for the portions given. This may just be me, but I don't feel like I get much bang for my buck here. It's too bad there aren't more reasonably priced Burmese restaurants in the area that I could support. Mandalay's tea leaf salad is great but very expensive. If I knew how to make the tea leaf salad myself, I would, but I don't.

There seems to only be one server so things can take some time but otherwise, the service is good! It's located in a small strip mall with relatively easy parking but some spots can be a bit tight. The interior is simple but definitely "mom and pop" vibes. We ordered Fried Ogo Squash, Paratha with Peas, and Tea Leaf Salad for starters and Prawn Curry and Gravy Rice as mains dishes. All the starters were delicious choices and, although the paratha was a little oily, it went super well with the peas and curry. The prawn curry was a flavor explosion with the prawns being perfectly cooked and the gravy rice was packed with veggies and a good amount of gravy. Some people in our party are vegetarian and everything besides the prawn curry were good choices for them. For desserts and drinks, we ordered RC Trio Delight, Smashed Strawberry Drink, and Rangoon Milk Tea. The RC Trio was a little on the sweet side but refreshing and the smashed strawberry was a delicious yogurt drink filled with strawberry. The Rangoon milk tea is delicious and a not too sweet option. 10/10 would recommend. Already thinking about the next time we come back.

Everything we had was quite tasty. We went on a weekday for late lunch, so the service was quick. I heard that when crowded, it is slower. (Also, college students are on summer break and staffing the restaurant during their summer break. That will end soon.) The restaurant is clean, though the setting is a bit spartan. It is in a small shopping center, with sufficent parking. I spent one summer working in a small mid-western town when I was in college, and there were few options other than standard American fare. We live in one of the best areas for cuisine from all parts of the world, owned and prepared by people who were raised there. It is a blessing to be able to drive a short distance and experience so much variety. Burmese food is rare even here, and it deserves to be tried.

It was my first time trying Burmese food, so I had no idea what to order and just asked the young gentleman working there to pick something for me. He chose the Mandalar fried noodles with chicken and wow...he did not disappoint. The noodles were savory, filling, and packed with flavor, and the sauces on the side made everything even better. The move is to mix the fish sauce with the lemon juice into the noodles. Incredible flavor combo. The vinegary cabbage on the side was also perfect with it. The whole thing tasted really fresh and honestly felt very authentic. I didn't even think I was hungry enough to finish the whole plate, but I could not stop eating it. Definitely want to come back and try more!

There aren't many Burmese food options around here. We drive by Yoma Myanmar several times a day…read moreand have always been curious about it. We've thought about going a few times, but something always came up, or it was Sunday when they're closed. We had a school event at our son's school, and we really didn't want more PTA pizza. Our son wanted McDonald's, but we asked him to try something new, and I'm so glad we did. He loved it so much and already wants to come back! I noticed there was a coupon available on Restaurant.com for Yoma Myanmar, but the owner informed me they are no longer accepting them and have already contacted the site to be removed. I was initially bummed because the coupon was a great deal and I'd already purchased it, but its always a good idea to double check before ordering. I'm certainly glad I did! I asked for recommendations, and the owner was wonderful - she explained the menu, which regions of Myanmar the dishes originated from, and what she thought we would enjoy. We decided to start off with some Fried Samusas ($14.99) and the Tea Leaf Salad ($16.99). For our entrees, we shared two mains: the Beef Curry ($19.99) and the Shan Noodle Soup ($15.99). The owner was so sweet; I think she felt bad about the coupon situation because she gave us some complimentary rice and a Coconut Jelly for dessert. The Fried Samusas were quite good and a perfect appetizer to share. I've always known Samusas to be of Indian origin, but the Burmese style is smaller and crispier, featuring a milder blend of spiced potatoes, onions and lentils. For those who enjoy a bit of heat, the dipping sauce served on the side is quite spicy and serves as a great complement to the samusas. The Tea Leaf Salad is a crunchy, savory Burmese dish made with fermented tea leaves, assorted nuts, toasted sesame seeds fried yellow split peas, fried garlic and chopped tomatoes. I loved the texture of this dish; it was highly addictive, and I couldn't stop eating it! The flavor profile is a wonderful mixture of savory, sour, and earthy notes. This is definitely a dish I recommend giving a try. The Beef Curry was smothered in a rich sauce was absolutely delicious - it was my wife's favorite dish. She even mentioned that she'd definitely come back for this dish alone. The meat was incredible tender and flavorful. Shan Noodles is a popular Burmese dish originating from the Shan State, made with rice noodles. The garnish includes toasted peanuts, sesame seeds, fried garlic, chopped cilantro, and green onions. We chose pork as our protein, and it was a solid dish that both my son and I really enjoyed. Because the noodles are served dry with the soup on the side, you can add the broth to tailor the dish exactly to your liking. This is a hidden gem in Monterey Park that is well worth visiting. We'll definitely be back to order these favorites again and explore more of the menu.
