FIRST RED FLAG. Our drinks were not made at the bar in front of us, which is HIGHLY unusual but we rolled with it.
SECOND RED FLAG. All the servers and some guy from the kitchen came out of the back when we first tasted them; they were staring at only us and giggling.THIRD RED FLAG: We get our drinks and taste them then immediately have our taste buds destroyed by fire from how spicy they were served. We asked for spicy, but not to the point that I got a serious headache and heart burn. FOURTH RED FLAG. We asked what was used to make our drinks, and was told by the server she wasn't sure. She came back later and we were told that the restaurant was out of Tabasco, and they used wing sauce, yet there was plenty of Tabasco at the tables and at the bar.FITH RED FLAG. All 3 drinks were flat out undrinkable. THREE. THREE DRINKS. We all took about 2 sips and were blown away at the level of heat. Meanwhile the guy from the kitchen area was still watching us try them, along with the 4 waitresses.(According to people I know locally his nickname is White or Whitey). They all had smirks watching us trying to choke down this liquid fire. My wife made eye contact with him a few times.
Our server was helpful but knew what was happening and never did anything except offer us more tomato juice to cut down on the heat. Never did we get asked if they could make us alternative drinks. Never did we get asked how to fix it at all. Nor did we get told that some Habanero wing sauce would be used in the drinks. Who uses wing sauce and mixes a drink behind closed doors?? Someone being deceptive and trying to play a joke is who.
I ask to speak with the guy that made the drinks. The nice server says she'll get him, despite looking nervous.
Ten minutes later and still silence after she goes back in the kitchen. (Why would anyone back there make a drink? If someone has no clue to make a drink there is always a recipe menu). She comes out and asks if I had a question for him that she could relay, and I tell her no that he can come out and talk to me. She looks more concerned now. At the same time she serves my wife and friend beers since we can't even drink our bloody marys, so she is clearly old enough to serve and make drinks yet didn't make our bloody marys. Kind of odd.
He finally comes out and I ask several pointed questions which he does not answer directly, but tries to avoid answering them by saying that other people drink them just fine.
I ask if he made our drinks. Yes.
Does it look like we're enjoying them. He says it's 50/50.
Why are he and the servers staring and smirking at us while we are obliterated by the heat? He argues they weren't, and I ask if we are smiling like the drinks taste good? He beats around the bush with no answer.
White/Whitey offers to bring us a drop of the wing mix he used to show us it's not that hot. (Makes no sense since he had said he only put a drop in our drinks, his words, which the mix and vodka would have diluted the heat), but no offer of remaking the drinks but instead says have a good night and runs off the the back.
This was beyond ridiculous. The guy making insanely undrinkable bloody marys will come out and watch us burn our mouths, but when asked to explain it tries to hide then runs off to the back? No. Completely unacceptable. Yet I can go to Mcotto's and not get tortured.
This hurt your business. We had planned on a few bloody marys EACH that day and walked out with a discounted bill of $13. We had figured about $150 total before tip. But because some jerk in the back of the house decided to screw with me, a US MARINE of all people, and my family and best friend that I havent seen in 20 years I am now ticked. REALLY TICKED. This will be posted on any and all social media I can find. White/Whitey (or whatever his name is needs) to find a job far removed from the service industry. And I hope he knows that should he get fired, I helped it along. Because I guarantee I'm not the first to experience his character and he deserves his due. read more
