Understandably, things happen that are out of your control. Or, as I like to say, "life happens". Which is why I find so much value in how things are handled, and am so disappointed when they aren't handled adequately.
Needing an express alteration, we chose this location based on reviews of excellent service in times of need. Took a jacket in, and was very clear that in 2 days we would be flying out of town and would have to pick up the garment on our way to the airport. After being assured this would be possible, we returned in the morning 2 days later to find the jacket still covered in the safety pins they had used to mark alterations.
No one can predict the future but some things are certain. So if an employee goes home sick and doesn't tell another employee to handle the urgent matter or notify the customers that the task will not be possible to finish, your customer will most certainly be picking up an unaltered jacket with no time to make other arrangements. A head's up the night before would have allowed us to find someone else, or even go out and purchase another jacket. But no, instead we get to fly out to California with an unusable jacket for a formal event that day.
The gentleman (maybe Jonathan?) that gave out jacket back was behind trying to catch up on projects that hadn't been finished by the sick employee, so it wasn't his negligence or anything like that. He said he could finish by 2pm but at that time we'd be half way into our flight so it wasn't an option. I'd like to think that if he'd known about our rush order he would have made it happen, but given the situation I can't help but be highly disappointed.
For future alterations I would only consider coming back here if I had absolutely no sense of urgency, and if I specifically went to the gentleman that was trying to catch up on the other employee's work. Life happens, and people can't predict that they're going to get sick. But when a business says they will do something, especially knowing and agreeing to the clearly outlined circumstances, its not a prediction put a promise. read more
