I dropped off my military mess dress uniform to have chevrons put on the sleeves and adjust to fit. Picked it up this morning. It now fits PERFECTLY! Alterations were done earlier than promised and exceeded my expectations. Thank you!!! John B. read more

Had my suit for my son's wedding altered here. Nice well~appointed shop, friendly staff and terrific work done. Highly recommended.

Got my two bridesmaid dresses altered here based on all of the good reviews. I was NOT disappointed! Fastest alterations I've ever had done. Couldn't believe it when they were calling me after only a little over a week to come pick them up! Dresses fit perfectly. Although pricier than some options in Springfield, I would say this place is 100% worth it! They do QUALITY work! read more

Destroyed my wife's dress the week before the wedding and we had to buy a new one. Promised refund but lied. Then wouldn't answer phone. Seeing was mis measured, poorly executed, misplaced and uneven. Also, a man trying to assist with a bra area is highly uncomfortable. read more

Fixed my dress in a time crunch!!! Super kind and courteous staff will be going here for all my alteration needs in the future

Great work, pleasant, received it ahead of schedule. Great shop. I'm happy. Feel comfortable working with Martins.

So nice and helpful! I got my wedding dress altered here and they did perfect! The sweetest workers ever

I had a wonderful experience here. We have been to them several times and it's always great. The prices are extremely reasonable and great customer experience. I dropped my dress off on 3/11 as I needed it for a convention our of town and I was leaving 3/20. She said she would put 3/18 tomake sure that there was plenty of time if something needed to be fixed. There was a rush charge but I expected it as I waited a little late to find a dress and it was not unreasonable. I got a text on 3/13 saying my dress was ready! I was so surprised and happy and when I picked it up the next day it looked so much better and the work is beautiful. I really appreciate the service and quality they have and plan to start bringing my pants here to start getting hemmed as being short all pants are long. I am adding before and after pictures. read more

Terrible customer service and terrible craftsmanship. My fiancée went in to get her wedding dress altered. Through the processes she was show what certain things would be done to her dress and was in an understanding of how it would look when she got it back. When the dress was returned to her they had added metal hook to the back of the dress so it could be kept up for dancing. When she expressed her displeasure with how it looked and how she was told it would look way different than what she had receive. Martins response to this was to not offer any solutions or compensation but to just say sorry. Further more she went back to Martins to have her sleeves altered to add attachment points to add to her dress. Not only did they do a terrible job with this as well but they made her bring in her own buttons and material to have this done. When she went back they apologized and said they would fully reimburse her fully for the sleeves, but after multiple days of trying to get the reimbursement martins responded with "forgit it your not getting the reimbursement". I can not overstate how unprofessional this is to a customer let alone someone who is using this business for there wedding. I would recommend people find another place to get alterations. read more

They did a great job on a few simple alterations I brought in. I will definitely use them again.

My dress was altered very fast, right in time before I had to leave for a wedding. It turned out perfect!

I had 2 pair of pants tapered. Excellent work completed quickly. It's great to find an alterations shop that does such good work. Thank you!

I had given my long satin skirt to replace the elastic belt for a good fitting as it had become loose. They say they replaced the belt but it is still loose as it was before. I will never go for any alterations there. read more

They do wonderful work! I've taken prom dresses and jeans in for alterations. They're my go to place in Springfield for alterations.

I brought a jacket in to switch the original buttons to more modern looking buttons. The price was especially reasonable and the turn around time was incredible! Everyone there is wonderful! Andy was especially helpful and my jacket looks perfect! Plus, they have some paintings on display, done by an extremely talented young artist! This is a wonderful place with outstanding people! I highly recommend! read more

God bless Martin's Alterations. I came in on a short notice because I busted a zipper in a super cute swimsuit that I really wanted to wear to my vacation in a week, and I was super worried I couldn't fix it. It was no problem for them!! I came in and they fixed it in 5 minutes, and even reinforced the zipper tracks so it wouldn't come off again!! Will go to them again for any tailoring I have--I've found an awesome tailor out of a bad situation (: read more

I've had Martins Alteration alter my wedding gown and many of my husbands dress shirts. She has the best prices in town and everything is available in one week at most two. I'm very happy with the results. The new location is larger with a nice defined dressing room. Highly recommend. read more

They are the BEST sewing store in town. Always finish the project by the time they promised, and always fix my cloth perfectly. I even fixed my leather bag and leather dress here. Looks amazing!!!! Sewing store with great reputation. You can count on them!!!!!!!! read more

I had them alter my wedding dress about 5 weeks before the date. Went in about 7 days before the wedding date. I had lost a few extra pounds and a simple hem of the length turned into taking in the structured cage around the ribs. They charged me extra (which was reasonable and totally understandable) and had the dress ready the next day. It fit beautifully, held up through the ceremony and lots of pictures hiking and laying in the woods and still was less expensive than I had budgeted. I would recommend to every bride. read more

I just went to them for the first time with my prom dress. They took my dress 2 weeks before the date I needed it by and got it done 4 days earlier than when they told me it would be done! It looks great and fits perfectly! read more

I went here because I am new to Springfield and it had good reviews on google. I had a horrible experience here. Long story short: they did two rounds of "alterations" and what I ended up with was a waste of $265 and a LOUSY fitting wedding gown. What was at first a very flattering gown became horrific. One of the worst parts was she told me "it's not the dress, it's your body. It won't change if we make it bigger". ... This dress fit NICELY before, it just needed taken in a little bit when i first came in. They took it in so far it couldn't be zipped, she said they would fix it, i came back and it could zip but my body was plunging out of it. The seam on the back is crooked and clearly looks like a cheap alteration job. She then says "maybe you can get hair extensions and it'll cover that area of your body. The veil will help cover it too". ... I left and will have to find someone else to fix their mistakes. I'm not giving them another dollar or another chance to fix my dress. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Martin Alterations! The first time I went here was to try and salvage a bridesmaids dress from China that was just hideous, all those horror stories of falsely advertised dresses online are true by the way. By some miracle they were able to fix the dress to were it fit me perfectly! After that I started coming to get my pants hemmed as she can keep the original hem were they don't look altered at all! Then my husband was complaining about his dress shirts being too wide even when we bought fitted or slim fit shirts so I recommend he try Martin Alterations and now he wants all of his dress shirts taken in! If you want high quality work this is the place to go! You would be amazed how much better you look in clothes that fit properly! read more

My dad bought my daughter a jean jacket and patches he wanted put on it. He dropped it off at Martin's and they were supposed to call with a price before any work was done but they didn't. They called when it was done and said the price was agreed at $100. Not saying the price was unreasonable but it wasn't discussed prior to work being done. When I picked the jacket up there was a patch not in the correct spot (they had been pinned where we wanted them) and I understand if it fell off but when they were all pinned in place a call to make sure it was being done correctly would have been nice. My daughter put the jacket on and we discovered the pockets were all sewn shut. Patches were put on the pockets but I don't believe you should sew the pockets closed to put the patches on. It would be avoidable if done by hand but it seemed they went the quick way and used a machine hence sewing the pockets closed. read more
