Ed arrived early to help troubleshoot the problems we had with wiring up new thermostat. I could not get the new updated thermostat to work at all. It took some clever detective work to find the problem which was that critters had chewed on the cable causing a short - thankfully I was able to locate the section of the wiring which had been shredded and with the information he provided was able to patch in a new wire and our system is up and running again with a new thermostat. Our forced air heater died in South Lake Tahoe, fortunately in June and we wanted to get a replacement done before things started getting cold. We contacted several contractors, but Ed from Jonas came through with some great ideas on installation that really made sense for the layout of our home. We also had him include in the. quote removal of the old system, that was a nightmare. Ed and his team of Mark and RJ came out and got straight to work and kept at it all day until they were done - in one day - a main unit and three indoor units, plus removing the old system. I needed a quote to install a mini-split system for a property I just purchased in Placerville. They were great at coming out and giving an estimate, and their price was reasonable. I was ready to move forward and reached out to ask about the installation process / when their availability was (over a month ago), but I got no response. I'm sure they are busy, but I ended up having to go with another company to install the HVAC system & ducting on the main floor, and a mini-split system on the separate bottom level. These guys were great. We called to get a quote on having HVAC installed in our new-to-us house. Currently, we only have a wood stove for heat and portable a/c for cooling which I didn't feel was going to cut it, plus the PGE cost, yikes! Ed, the owner, answered and was able to get out to take a look at our house the same afternoon. He had bids for mini splits and traditional HVAC to me that evening. The price was right on the Mitsubishi (top of the line) mini-splits and Jonas offered great financing packages. They were out a week after the financing was buttoned up and completed the installation of 3 heads, wiring, etc. in about half a day. Ed and his team were courteous, thorough, and they guarantee their work. Plus the mini splits have a 12 year parts and 5 year labor warranty. Review update 5.7.19: Jonas HVAC was a Subcontractor when we remodeled back in 2006. They were professional, personable (all the things our Contractor wasn't). 2019 Our stupid heater wasn't working at the begining of Winter. I swear it wasn't! I finally called Jonas HVAC in April 2019 to it check out. They returned my call the same day. Ed (the Owner of Jonas) came out *on time* checked it. Anyway Ed went up in our attic crawlspace & tried it out. Of course, it worked perfectly for him! So he said the intermittent nature of the problem, he suspects the problem is our old thermostat. He was done! While Ed was here, I also had him check our Rennai on-demand water heater. He rinsed out the little filter thingie & said, "All done!" WOW is he efficient & friendly too! He was in & out within 15 minutes. He charged me nothing.. nada, nyet, nuthin'. Ed was courteous, friendly, handsome, and efficient. I recommend Jonas wholeheartedly! read more

The most honest company I ever found. They placed my AC about 5 years ago. After 2 years it was very cold outside and the unit could not heat the room. Ed ( the owner ) came , checked everything and concluded he made a mistake. He changed The whole Mitsubishi unit for a bigger one without any cost. I really appreciate the fact that they dispatched a tech the same day I called. Well it wasn't exactly the same day as I had left a message 2 days prior and they didn't return the call.. They're having receptionist issues as they don't return calls in a timely manner. Anyways, this Tech did fix the main problem, but it was only halfway completed and I was told someone would come out to finish the job. That did not happen. The Tech did not show up, when they said he was going to show up. So I called Jonas a few days later. The receptionist seemed irritated that I called more than one time. Even though the job was halfway completed, they made me wait another week before they sent somebody out to complete it. read more

They totally deserve all these 5 star ratings. Fair, professional, efficient, timely, communicative: these are adjectives that rarely apply to contractors, but Jonas earns them. I had a new mini-split heat pump system installed in March. They gave me a fair price, actually much lower than some of the competing bids, showed up when promised, did the somewhat difficult installation efficiently and cleanly. When I called them back over some minor cosmetic issues, Ed the owner came over personally and took care of it. 3 months later, the heat wave hits, and.....no cooling! Of course, in 100 degree heat, every AC company will be totally swamped, nevertheless, Ed got his guy (Mark) out here quickly, diagnosed a refrigerant leak, and immediately got to work fixing it. No excuses, no arguments. Just pros doing their job. The system is working perfectly now. read more

They recently installed the last 2 bedrooms with AC/Heating Mitsubishi mini splits plus 12 year part warranty now our house is completely running on mini splits. We took our kerosene heater in to be rebuilt last February. It wasn't working when we moved into our house, so we wanted it functional. They told us it would be about a week, but three weeks went by with no heater. Finally when it was done I went to pick it up and the guy who helped us wasn't a normal employee, but a friend helping them out. He didn't know how to work their computers, so he said they would call me to collect payment. Once it started getting cool again I decided to turn it on since we got it a month after we took it in and it was warming up by the time we got it back home. Well, the completely rebuilt kerosene heater had a seal put in backwards so it leaked all over my floor (which is why we brought it to them in the first place). It's easy to tell it was in backwards because there's an adjacent screw the seal is supposed to go around, but they put the seal on so that cut out was hanging out of the top of the plate instead of going around the screw. I took it back in and they were able to find a pinhole leak in the carburetor, which they replaced free of charge because I had just had it rebuilt. Although I was frustrated to begin with, Robin knew how to take care of the situation in a very professional manner and made me feel like my kerosene heater would be up and running in no time. Now that I've had it for a week it's been running great. I will be bringing it back if I have anymore problems! read more

Awesome company! My oil furnace stopped working. I was suspicious that it was just a thermostat problem. Gilmore came out, didn't even check the thermostat, and tried to sell me a new heat pump HVAC system for $15,000. After a sleepless night, I called Jonas. We searched for 6 months to find a reliable, reasonable, honest company to replace a very old roof evaporative cooler. This morning 2 young workers, Justin and Tyler, came to install our cooler. It is 97+- degrees out, and we are very comfortable. They were efficient, very wonderful young men, and the company, Jonas, came in $800 below the other bids. I didn't have Jonas do any repairs to our AC system and here's the reason why: IT DIDN'T NEED IT. My system stopped working during the current heat wave and I obviously thought something was wrong with my AC compressor or some other part that I didn't know existed. I called Jonas and they came out, checked our system and immediately diagnosed the problem as electrical and not AC related. There was no charge for the call and they recommended we contact an electrician to trace and repair the problem. We contacted our electrician (T&M) and they confirmed Jonas' finding and repaired the problem. If you're looking for an honest and service oriented company , I highly recommend Jonas Air. read more
