This place knows how to make a sub. It sort of reminds me of how good Quiznos was back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The service was awesome and the wait wasn't long at all. The ambiance was typical of a sub restaurant and very clean. I had the 12in Gator and it was filling! All the ingredients were cooked just right and the bread they use is perfect. Flavorful sirloin steak, moist chicken, kielbasa, grilled onions, bacon bits and their swamp sauce all melted together with provolone. My wife had the maple bacon chicken sub which was also very tasty but a lil too sweet for me. Its not on their menu anymore but you can still get it. Its a smokehouse maple rubbed chicken, maple syrup glaze, bacon ,lettuce, tomato and mayo. Will be back to try some other sandos for sure! Meridian finally has a great sandwich shop! read more

Oh man. Stopped by this place after arriving to Boise for Thanksgiving. Just wanted a quick sandwich. We ordered and no joke sat for 20+ min to get our food. Once our food was brought over, the worker dropped our fries all over the table and then proceeded to ask if we wanted a new order. Um, yes please? Then we started unwrapping our sandwich order and noticed that we got one of our sandwiches as the wrong order, and it turned out that the people sitting across the room from us got our sandwich and we got theirs. So then we had to wait longer for them to remake the sandwich. Our kids ordered the chicken strips, which did not look like chicken when they arrived. The color was very weird. The only thing that deserved a one star was that at the end of our visit, one of our kids accidentally spilt their drink, and the worker came over and took care of it no problem and was very gracious, so that was a bit of a saving grace. I got the tuna and fries. the fries was just ok. the bread was the problem, the bread was not soft and almost stale. The bread was the big turn off. I've been here twice now and I'm a fan! On my first visit my husband and I came here for a quick dinner before Bible study. The place was clean and the service was quick and friendly. I was actually impressed with the efficient service being that this place has only been open for a couple of weeks. Usually new places take a month or so to work out the kinks. Anyway, I ordered a small classics beef sandwich. The favor was yummy the meat was tender. My husband ordered a side of fries with his meal and wish I would of ordered my own. The fries are amazing here. Just the way I like them. On my second visit I ordered the Cuban sandwich. One of the best Cubans I've had! The pork had a smokey flavor which added to the deliciousness of this classic sandwich. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

So so Good flavor but lacking substance. The good The bread I love the shredded lettuce that is nicely chilled, it holds the vinegar oil and pepper perfectly. What can be said.. Place was amazing I have been dieing for a pastrami and finally found one. loved it grilled onions and peppers and cheese all grilled. meat was hot and juicy not dried out. Was such a delight sandwich fries and a drink. My girlfriend had the Grilled reuben and I don't like rubans but had to try a lil taste. Must say it was STELLAR also. The menu will take a month to make it threw all the sandwiches But I think I am up for the task. I know they are new and I bet the smiles and the food get nothing but better... Been here 3 times. One word- Excellent! The place has young high school kids working there. Always very polite and the food comes quick. I get the "Bomb" hot sandwich. It's made with fresh veggies including fresh raw beef that they cook within sight. The result is spectacular! Really great sandwich! It's a little expensive for a sandwich was my first thought, but when I saw the ingredients and tasted to food, it was worth it. By far the best sub sandwich I've ever had. I'm a huge foodie, but this is the best I've ever tasted. My order: 12" turkey provolone with a little mayonnaise on white bread. It's so good. $11.95 for the sandwich and $2.50 for a small fountain drink. Plus tax it comes out to $15.32 The service was amazing. We walked in and out within 10 minutes. Reminds me of a sandwich shop I used 2 go 2 in the Bay Area, CA called Togo's Eatery (8 We ordered 7 sandwiches (3 Steak & Onions, Meatball, Pastrami, BLT & Tuna Salad), and they all vanished in less than 5 minutes. We also ordered 1 small fry and a small soda. I think we were supposed 2 get 6 other small sodas, but we didn't specify. I forgot, but overall, it was a tasty experience. We will be back soon. Fat Guys and still my favorite for quality and quantity Firehouse Subs Fries were cold and soggy. I went against my better judgement in ordering them because a real sandwich doesn't have fries. Stopped for a to-go order with the hubby. He got The Gator and I got the Ruben. We also ordered a large fry to split. The service was good and the restaurant exceptionally clean. A good selection of hot and cold sandwiches, a couple salad options and fries or chips as the sides. The sandwiches were both very good. The Gator was HUGE, filled with chicken, steak, kielbasa, grilled onions, bacon bits and i don't know what else. The sauce that was on it was delicious! But hubby was only able to eat half. Hopefully it will heat up ok. My ruben was pressed like a panini but without the grilled/toasted outside. The pastrami was very flavorful. It looks super thin, but was beyond filling. The fries were a disappointment. Some were crunchy, but most were soggy. They lacked salt and are not something we will order again. The fry sauce that came with them was also lacking any flavor and did nothing to help the fries. But at a sub shop I expect great sandwiches and not necessarily great fries. If I need something crunchy I'll get a bag of chips. For a warm sub or sandwich i will definitely go back. I was torn between their steak sandwich and what I got. They even carry your order to your table, or bring it to you if you're carrying out. Second, this place is pricey. For a 12" Italian sub, chips, and a SMALL drink, my total came out to $14 and change. Not the place to go if you're pitching pennies. Third, the flavor of the sandwich was very bland. The meat wasn't seasoned and the marinara tasted like straight tomato sauce. I tried my buddy's fries and even they were plain without seasoning. My husband and I waited so patiently to try Jon Smith's subs. We even showed up a few weeks ago thinking they were already open. We love trying new places and a bonus... this is close to home for us! There was a short line to order but nothing to stray us away from our beloved sandwich shop of choice today. We reviewed the menu on the way in so we already knew exactly what we wanted. The gal who took our order seemed pretty young. She was extremely confused and even told me they didn't have something that was listed on their online menu. A manager jumped in and corrected her so we were able to order what we wanted. What we ordered: My husbands BBQ Bacon Steak was salty, soggy and not made as ordered. My BLT, on the other hand, was made to order and was pretty tasty! Crispy bacon is a Godsend! The White bread is very soft but did not have much flavor or texture. We were especially excited to try their fries which are self-proclaimed to be the 'best fries, no lies'. The fries we received were soggy, barely luke-warm and no where near the best fries we've tasted. A manager made his way to our table to check in and offered us some fries. Thank goodness! The second batch was MUCH better but they still got soggy really quickly. This may be due to the fries being served in the drink cups- the rising steam may encourage the fries to turn mushy. This little sandwich shop just opened close to my apartment, which now makes TWO total food places within reasonable walking distance. I ended up liking the little teriyaki place NEXT to Jon Smith Subs, so I was hoping that I wouldn't like this sandwich place because I'm trying to stop eating out and it would be much easier if there weren't two good places right next to each other. Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed in any way so that should make it easy. Went in today to try it for the first time. Lot of staff members were present...I was helped by a nice, young lady. I asked what the most popular sandwich was in the shop's young existence, and was told "The Bomb." Now if you've read any of my past reviews, you are well aware that I LOVE large quantities of food. Of course, I love quality, but in my case, I love quantity equally to quality. So I ordered a 12-inch "The Bomb" with grilled chicken and no mushrooms to go. The wait wasn't too bad, went home, and opened up my ordinance. Oh, and I should mention, when I received the order, I was already a little disappointed as I figured a $12 foot long sandwich called "The Bomb" would be heavy. It was not...either I have been working out too much or they should rename it "The Cherry Bomb." Ok got home, opened it up...visually, it was deceiving. It almost looked like a big sandwich, but that's because it was MOSTLY BREAD! The loaf they use is huge and airy and took up most of the room in the bag. Inside, there was a good amount of chicken I suppose, however it was all incredibly dry and not seasoned well at all. The grilled onions and peppers were lacking, whatever sauce they used was also lacking AND had no flavor, and they somehow still managed to get a couple mushrooms in there. AND I was told there was supposed to be a strip of bacon through it...nope, no bacon. Overall, just a bad sandwich. Not the worst sandwich I've ever had, but it was bad. In their defense, they ARE pretty new at this point with a new staff who possibly are just getting the hang of it, but for now, I won't be back for awhile as it's not worth it. The food was pretty good but I ordered through Grubhub and they left out 2 orders of fries and 2 cookies. I called and they said, "what do you want us to do?" I said I'd like to be refunded for the fries and cookies. They told me they couldn't do that and apparently Grubhub can't either. Poor customer service. They also didn't even put my order in until my delivery person had shown up to pick up the food. So it ran almost 30 minutes longer than it should have. read more

Finally decided to try after weeks of my husband hinting to me. Place was busy & very clean. Ordered 3 sandwiches. They were stuffed with tons of meat! Which is great - way better than what you might get at Subway or Blimpie. Loved the seasoned fries with it. Only thing is on the Italian sandwich way too much sauce versus the meat & veggies. The sauce shouldn't be the star it should be the other goodies. Otherwise great place to get a yummy sandwich. read more

I don't normally do things like this, however I'm going to because the working conditions were not acceptable. The food has been pretty good here. I've eaten the triple deli and the maple chicken sandwiches a few times. Usually good. Fries are great. But this place hasn't had air conditioning for what's gotta be about 3 weeks maybe more. Those kids are prob making $8-$10 and hour in a roasting hot area. I asked the girl working if they were planning on fixing it and I can tell she had either no idea, or knows they aren't and didn't want to get in trouble. Gotta fix the climate of your restaurant asap. I'm assuming it will effect meat temps at some point. read more

Decided to try the new sub shop down the road when I was grabbing a quick lunch with a friend. I tried the Maple Bacon Chicken sub, with fries, and a soda. While it sounded good, what I got was pretty disappointing. I unwrapped it to find two large piece of bread, an incredible amount of shredded lettuce, and 5-8 small pieces of chopped chicken drowned in sauce, with one piece of sketchy looking bacon buried in the mix. The bread tasted ok, but the entire sandwich was overwhelmed by the sauce, and the lack of protein or substance. It was just gross. I moved on to the "famous" fries, which were famously bland and tasteless. For a price 7-9 dollars, there was no value there. Looks like someone in leadership is trying to fluff their profit by getting the cost down, and went way to far. While I am not a fan of Subway or JimmyJohns, at least you get some food for your money, and comparatively you get a much better sandwich for a lot less. We stopped by for lunch and to check out the new place. They have a broader menu than most sandwich joints. They also offer a low carb option by making any sandwich into a salad. Not sure how anyone could get "soggy" fries. They don't cook them until you order them. Ours were too hot to eat at first. Simply fries with no added junk and a light salting. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and fries. Best Cuban since we left Maraton Key this summer. Spot on. My wife ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich as a salad. We both loved what we had. First time coming here and probably won't stop by again. The staff was very helpful and friendly but the good stopped there. The store was extremely warm so I decided to take my sandwich to go. I got the teriyaki chicken sandwich, it had been cut in half after it was wrapped so it ended up being a big leaky mess. The bread tasted store bought and it was loaded with onions and barley any meat. The bread was soggy from the excessive amount of runny teriyaki sauce. The fries were okay. The total cost of my order was over $17. Very expensive for what I received. $14 at subway gets me a better combo meal with 3 cookies and a drink. read more

We went to Jon Smiths with a group of 8, the restaurant was clean, the staff was friendly and very efficient. All of the staff were wearing masks. The tables were spaced appropriately for the times we are living in. We sat 4 people at one and 4 at another. None of us had been there prior and everyone was happy with their sandwich and fries. Maple Bacon Chicken, Glazed Teriyaki, The Gator, the Steak Bomb, Authentic Italian... everything I have tried I have liked! And I love that they can make any sub into a salad... making it gluten free/low carb. The fries are always done perfectly crisp and even their cookies are good. The employees are always ready with a suggestion of what to try next and are helpful and happy. There are aren't many places to eat in this specific area as of yet, so I am glad there is a good sandwich shop to go to! read more

Placed a door dash order with them on a Sunday, ordered a 12 in turkey, 12 inch reuben, & 12 inch chicken bomb with 1 side of fries. When the delivery was dropped off, we were shorted half a sandwich, and the whole Reuben. My husband called to let them know, they offered a gift card or for us to come get it (defeats the purpose of doordash). When my husband got there, he asked if the meal was correct this time with the 12 in Reuben and 12 in chicken bomb, they said yes, so he left. Welp, got home and only have 2 6in subs instead of the 2 12 in he paid for. 1 screw up can be forgiven, but a second screwup in the replacement order, seriously? This would be so much better if they would just season their food. I have had the steak bomb a couple of times and it would be so much better if they would just salt it or even take some of their Cajun seasoning they put on the Cajun fries and season the meat.
