We have been in several time for burgers and I must say you have a great burger. However I have given up red meat but my husband hasn't and I always tell hm as long as I can get chicken or an entrée salad, we can go. Your grilled chicken sandwich for $13 was a big disappointment. It was much smaller than the bun and the tomato. Probably a third of my bites had no chicken just veggies and bun. On Saturday 2 days later we stopped at Chick-fil-a while Christmas shopping and I had a grilled chicken sandwich, now they are known to have a 3oz- 3.5 oz sandwich and the chicken must touch 3 sides of the bun. Based on that I would guess your chicken was 2.5 oz at the most, as it was smaller and thinner, that night I was guessing 3 oz at the most. Mind you I measure all my food at home and am aware of food weights. All that being said, what I want to know is what is your normal size chicken breast for your sandwich? I certainly do not feel that 3 oz of meat makes a $13 sandwich, maybe it is the new normal. I want to know what to expect if we return. Maybe I need to find something else on the menu. Its My second time coming here & second time this week because it's that good!! Service was very sweet and attentive both times with great recommendations. First time I ate the chopped brisket burger it was GREAT & HUGE!! This time I opted for something smaller, kids chicken nuggets , they are amazing cuts of chicken breast with a really good crispy crust that screams made from scratch! My Father got the club with the best turkey we have tried in ages. Now for the real show stopper!! You're killing me smalls milkshake, it's a s'mores milkshake and very obviously so! You can taste the toasted marshmallow and graham cracker, I had to get it both times. Definitely a new favorite! What a great local spot! Another concept from the fabulous Jon Bonnell (chef and owner of Bonnell's, Waters, Buffalo Bros). Although the menu is casual, the food is absolutely delicious. They don't take reservations and it's a TCU hotspot so just keep an eye out for when the big games are. On our last visit, I got the chicken salad sandwich and I have to say it was the best chicken salad I've ever had. I ordered with a gluten free bun and wowzers! I would never have guessed it was gluten free. I was only going to taste a bite and ended up eating the entire thing. I'll be back soon to try with a burger. A must try! read more

I give our server a 5. I don't remember her name, but she was excellent. The food...not so much. A 3 for the food is stretching it. Had the special which was tacos on Tuesday. Tried the chicken and the pork. Unfortunately they both lacked flavor. I had to use salt which I never do just to taste something. This was very disappointing considering this is one of the line of Bonnell's restaurants. Maybe shouldn't expect much on the happy hour menu, but am not inclined to go back. Great atmosphere to watch a game. The young guy behind the bar with glasses is the best! Here's the deal though. We've been here several times now because we can get dark beer on tap. Tried just about everything on the menu but not sure if I can depend on it's consistency. We've had only one other time beside this particular visit with our guests from out of town that left us disappointed with the inconsistency and the very long wait for our food to get to our table. The chips and queso came out fairly quickly but it took over 20+ minutes to get our order of a couple burgers, a salad and a dog. We even bragged about the burnt ends to our guests but they came out in smaller, tougher cuts masked with their sauce. Our burger patties were also very dry. Could it have been because our sweet waitress forgot about our order? Managers were talking amongst themselves and never once engaged with any guests on the floor during our visit. As one of the newer local establishments in the neighborhood please take the time to greet your guests even with a smile and a hello. Above all else, the inconsistencies got to us this visit. Overall, the staff is friendly. Shakes are good - won't order the pecan again but love the vanilla. Food is good - as I thought they had me at the burnt ends. Still trying to get used to the flavor of the one-note beef patties - flatty or fatty! We'll visit again, I'm sure, despite this. Love the bar and it's size though! I really, really wanted to like this place. Who doesn't love a good burger and boozy milkshakes? Let's start with the service. It was, in short, incredibly awkward. We sat at the bar and it seemed like the bartenders first day in the industry. He wasn't sure of himself in the slightest, and the order taking process was slow. Painfully slow. In addition to this-it seems none of the staff knows their seating arrangement- twice they tried to deliver food to us that wasn't ours. The second time, they were trying to deliver two burgers while we were halfway through ours...complete lack of common sense, or are they used to people ordering two lunches? The cocktails are pricey for what you get. 4-6oz of liquid, and definitely weak (I'm a lightweight and I didn't feel the alcohol at all). Next onto the food. The elote fritters were okay, if a bit bland. We both ordered our burgers "fatty" and found one half of the burger was well done while the other half was medium. The packing was also incredibly dense, not super pleasant to bite through and difficult to cut. I did enjoy the flavors of my burger, but the texture was a turn off. The onion rings are more like onion straws which is misleading and unfortunate; the mac and cheese is good (even though I didn't care for the sweetness of the bacon); and the fries were pretty good after a hefty coating of salt. The ranch, though, is amazing, and definitely lent a helping hand to the onion straws and fries. We ended up skipping out on milkshakes since we weren't impressed with the meal, but I don't know. Maybe that would have been their saving grace. Overall, I'm disappointed in local legend Bonnell and not eager to return. read more

Went here for dinner and really enjoyed it! Staff is all very friendly. The BBQ platter was good, but not the best in Fort Worth. Mac and cheese and both types of fries were so good so I don't think you can go wrong with any of the sides. Burgers are all pretty good too from what everyone at our table said. The real winner was the milkshake, I'd come back solely for the milkshake but they have a ton of other good stuff too!! read more

Tasty bbq and brews. Several tvs around to watch games and the waitstaff was attentive. Was a fan of Jon's grille and will be back.

We came in this past weekend and brought a group of nearly 30 with us. I'm not sure what the deal was... it may have been a bad night for the kitchen, I'm not sure- but the food took almost an hour and a half. I understand big tables can cause a back up but the wait was pretty ridiculous. Especially for simple burgers. That said- I would be much more upset if it weren't for our wonderful service from Matt and another young man who was helping him. They were on the ball with getting us all set up and organized when we arrived. They very quickly and efficiently got our drinks, apps & then food ordered all in a very quick and organized manner. Matt was very polite & communicative about the kitchen and told us he would work hard to make sure everything came out as quickly and swiftly as possible. He did re-inform us that because of our size we may have a bit of a wait. While the food did NOT come out quickly, it did finally come out swiftly. For a place like that, where everyone is ordering a burger with small slight differences, and a table with 30 people- there were no errors in who got what food! That & Matt's consistent communication definitely saved the restaurants reputation. He also bought my daughter a s'mores milkshake for her patience. I'm really hoping the next time we come in the wait time will be fixed because the food was amazing. I also got 2 cocktails, both very pretty & refreshing. Those and all the husband's beers came out cold and quickly! The bar did a great job. We will be back to give the kitchen a second chance because my family and all our friends loved the food but we seriously hope we won't have to wait an hour & a half again... so much potential here! It's asking to mention ambiance... I'd say the ambiance was pretty good. Wanted to try Jon's Grille since they announced it was coming and finally made it on Monday night (Early Bird - $3 off Burgers). Did not order the burger as we already had our mind set on the BBQ. The Brisket, Burnt Ends and Sausage were awesome. Very tender and juicy. Sausage had just the right amount of bite. We loved the fries and onion rings! The Mac & CHeese was incredible - maybe a little too cheesy in fact. The potato salad was good, but thought it could stand a few more potatoes and less mustard. Overall excellent and will go back. We parked on the street, but there is parking in the back. Fun atmosphere, music might have been a little loud, but it is a bar..... Will be back for the burgers as they looked amazing. read more

OMG the burnt ends are amazing!! My husband had the train wreck and it blew him away. The servers here are amazing and make you feel right at home. Had my food out pretty quick and never had to ask for a refill. Even the manager Stevie was so polite and professional. Making sure our food was good and we were satisfied. And the amazing thing about that I could tell she go honestly cared about of having a great dinner. And boy did we ever I recommend you come on down to John's Grill and experience what I did. I have feen a lot of reviews for Jon's Grille, so we decided to check it out after the Stock Show. I gave the place 3 stars due to the service, as the food was excellent. I am not sure if it was because they were understaffed, but they were not busy and service was fairly non-existent. The manager walked around, not greeting or checking on anyone, but stopping in various places to watch whatever game on. We were sat fast and then waited 10 mins to be greeted. The greet was quick and simply to tell us she would "grab us water and be right back to take our order." The water was dropped off and she said "one moment" and never came back. After 15 minutes finally started looking around and another server went to talk to the first server, who just gave our table up to the new server. He took our order, but was MIA most of the time. Took 20 mins for 2 beers from the bar, 20 mins for a side of pickles that was missed when ordering, and just a general attitude of laziness existed across the staff. The place was NOT busy, so I can only assume it was just understaffed as stated before. The hardest working person we could see what the bartenders, but the service and management staff where doing a lot of hanging out by the service area and not really providing "service". If not for the lack of service or management, the food would have received 4 stars on its own. Highly recommend the burgers, sweet potato fries over the regular fries and onion rings. Others in my group had the BBQ plate, all the different tacos and a brisket baked potato. Each one of them were impressed with their food choice and what I was able to snag off their plate was very good. I would recommend this place, but know the service and FOH management could be improved significantly. read more

Finally made it to Jon's Grille. The interior is great and service was good. We started with the stuffed jalapeño. I believe they were supposed to have brisket inside of them but they came out with just a little pile of dry chopped brisket on the side, I thought this was odd. The hamburger was the best restaurant one we've ever had! The fry's however were greasy and limp. Bummer. Would definitely try onion rings next trip. Also had a salad and it was fresh but was mainly just a bowl of arugula, so probably wouldn't order that again. Overall good lunch and would go again if in the mood for an awesome burger! read more

My husband and I recently ate at Jon's Grille. The first problem encountered was parking. We had to park on Berry Street and walk across a very busy street. My husband ordered a 817 Classic hamburger and the meat had no flavor. I ordered the Ric Rolled Poppers as my meal. The peppers were so tough I could not cut them with my knife. I ended up eating the little bit of brisket on my plate. They cost $14. I asked for ranch dressing on the side and was charged $.85. My husband asked for mayo for his burger and was also charged $.85. His burger was $15 so you would think he could have mayo without paying extra for it. Needless to say we won't be back. read more
