The first time, no one responded to my phone message or my email, the 2nd and now this time, they said they were unable to accept any more orders. The whole experience of ordering our wedding cake from here was wonderful! We loved that we were able to come in and sit down to try an assortment of cake flavors. I wanted a non-traditional wedding cake, and the owner took my idea and ran with it! I wanted the cake to not only look pretty, but taste amazing! We ended up going with chocolate peanut butter cake, with Reese's crumbles and potato chips crumbled between each layer. Then a drizzle of chocolate ganache on the outside of each cake layer! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXTREMELY POOR ATTITUDE. I made an appointment over a month in advance for a cake tasting for our wedding scheduled for 2022. When I first spoke to Yumi; she reacted with a bad attitude when I asked her a question about cake design...everyone has a bad day sometimes...so I disregarded the bad attitude. The day of the cake tasting appointment Yumi called me to come in an hour earlier then my scheduled appointment time. We arrived 20 minutes early to the new appointment time. I called to let her know we arrived and she told us she was running late so she couldn't see us any sooner. When we walked in for our scheduled appointment (the one she asked us to come in earlier then planned) she responded with an attitude AGAIN! Not even apologetic that she asked us to come in early and wasn't on time herself. After the repeated behavior we decided this was NOT someone we were going to work with for our wedding. Your wedding day is a special day your vendors shouldn't be giving you a hard time even before you sit down for a tasting. That's a bad sign before even starting! I walked into Johnson custom cakes on 7/27/21 to order 2 cakes for a 95th birthday and a 90th birthday celebration. After deciding on the cakes with not much help from the person working there I was told that the owner Yumi wasn't in but would call me later with the cost. I waited until the next afternoon and called to speak to Yumi and was told Yumi was on the phone and would call me right back. It is now a week later and have not heard from them. Picked up a cake tasting for $35. It came with 10 different flavors. Great way to try different options for our upcoming wedding. If you get your cake through them, they credit you back the $35. The Cake itself was not very moist but the frosting add the moisture and is very good. Our favorite was the red velvet. read more

Johnson's Cakes went above and beyond the call of duty. My fiancé and I use them for our wedding and we're extremely satisfied with the cake, grooms cake and the macaroons. The cakes were absolutely beautiful and delicious. That alone is a positive review but I wanted to share that our wedding topper was lost during the breakdown of the ceremony. My wife and I return from our honeymoon to find that our family had not collected our topper. Feeling bad for my wife's disappointment I called Ashley at Johnson's Cakes to ask if there was anyway they could help me with a replacement. They came through for me at no charge. She said she would give us our money back, but again, MORE excuses as to why we weren't receiving our money when she said we would have it. We finally ended up filing a dispute with our bank (which we won, thankfully), but I doubt we would have ever gotten our money back willingly from her. The 5-tier cake was GORGEOUS and covered in fondant rosettes, and guests were **raving** about how delicious the cake was!!! Their cake is scrumptious and the frosting and buttercream....drooollll. They created a custom shimmery champagne/ivory color for me and worked with me to come up with a beautiful design. I have a gluten allergy so when we went in for the tasting I was expecting my fiance to be trying everything for me, but to my surprise they had a separate gluten free tasting tray for me!! Let's just say I left the store with quite the sugar rush =) They were so kind and created a gluten free top layer on my cake, AND, they even created a second gluten free tier, separate from the cake, to freeze and eat next year on our anniversary. We had heard great things about Johnson's Custom Cakes and were excited for our wedding cake. When we saw it, it truly looked beautiful and exactly what we wanted. However, when the cake was served we, and everyone at our reception, were disappointed as the cake was dense and barely edible. Thinking something must have gone wrong as everyone else who had gotten their cake here raved about them, my Mom and I both called to let Jennifer Johnson know and while her passion showed through in that she seemed to truly feel terrible, we were taken aback a bit by her seeming disbelief by saying "in 10 years I've never had anyone complain." Things can go wrong and we really were just letting her know but even when my husband wrote to try to suggest what could have gone wrong, he got no response whatsoever. She had admitted that she used a different rum as the rum she typically uses (Myer's) was expensive and they were trying a cheaper brand. She also admitted that it wasn't mixed properly. The disappointment in our cake didn't ruin our wedding, but the lackluster response was disappointing. While We were refunded the amount that our wedding coordinator supposedly paid for the cake ($92 + an additional $50 for the fondant) and offered to make us a cake for our first anniversary (we declined) we would have been much happier had we truly gotten an apology initially as we were providing feedback to help others avoid a similar situation in the future. But at least it looked great for our photos! read more

After doing a tasting with them and another bakery, my husband and I decided to hire Johnson's Custom Cakes because of the texture of their cake and the flavor combinations. Jennifer (the owner and head baker) took our ideas and aesthetic into consideration and recommended 3 cakes (instead of one) in coordinating designs and each with its own flavor. I'm also happy to say that the cakes looked as beautiful as they were delicious. During and after the wedding everyone kept telling us how delicious the cakes were. (My husband's and my favorite was the vanilla cake with pineapple and coconut swiss meringue and pineapple puree). I can't give any star rating. We had a poor tasting when we went to taste our cake samples but we ordered from them anyway after we were called and apologized to. The wedding cake looked nice, simple but nice but we were charged $50 for fondant two days before the wedding that was never mentioned. The cake was awful, it tasted raw and gummy and the frosting, sticky and runny. Not one guest ate the cake they were served including five cake loving kids! When I called to complain I was told it was the chefs fault, they would talk to him/her. The owner also said she would call my daughter next week but was very distracted and unconcerned or apologetic on the phone. I would definately contact another bakery don't let them ruin it for your wedding reception. read more
