Literally got a tattoo here and its infected, and the ink was so garbage that it did not even stick correctly. the lines are so wobbly and bad. dude stretched out my skin and all it looks like is garbage. After reading the reviews on Yelp and researching a bunch of places, I decided to get my septum pierced at Johnson Tattoo. I completely regret my choice. The actual shop itself seemed clean. They seemed knowledgeable about piercings when I talked to them on the phone and in person, but they seemed somewhat rude to me. Their customer service wasn't what upset me though. I ended up taking out my piercing 7 weeks later because the piercing was incredibly crooked, not pierced in the correct spot, and that the jewelry was way too big for my nose. I kept it flipped up in my nose mostly because I can't have facial piercings at my job. And I was told that continually flipping jewelry during the healing process was a big no-no. Also, because the jewelry was so large, I couldn't flip it down. I had to force it out of my nose last night, and that's when I noticed how horrible the placement was. I had to go to another shop to get it taken out because the balls were so tight on my Circular Barbell that I couldn't get them off myself. Even the guy at the other shop had some difficulty doing so. He was shocked that someone would give me such a huge ring, considering how tiny my nose is. And he told me that the piercing was way too far back. When I called Johnson Tattoo, they did seem knowledgeable about piercings. I know septums are difficult to do for even the most talented piercers. I just wish I had gone somewhere else for my piercing! read more

I had a tribute tattoo done for my brother, Roscoe worked really hard on the line art to get it just right. It's absolutely gorgeous and I do not think I would have had the same result anywhere else. A year later I came back and had a tattoo done on the back of my neck, he also touched up the tattoo he'd done previously for me, and by touch up I mean he worked on it until he was pleased with it, which is amazing that he would put so much effort into keeping his work presentable! Both of my tattoos have been done by him and I couldn't be more pleased. Very professional and extremely clean; which is so important!! My cousin actually recommended me to this shop, and she has several pieces done by him which are all as unique as this shop!! :) His prices are extremely reasonable, considering how much knowledge and experience he has with his trade. I have been going to this shop since I was 18. In the past 20 years, I have had a piercing and 4 tattoos done here, all have been by Roscoe. He is kind and fair and will explain everything for you if you have questions. They guarantee their work, I should have been back for touch ups but my schedule does not normally align and my fault for not calling to arrange something. Though I do not yet have had any tattoo work done, I wanted to write a review in regards to Roscoe's piercing work. Over the years I have been pierced a multitude of times, both in Europe and in Michigan. When my regular piercer retired it was time to find a new, reputable shop and professional piercer. Too many people decide to get their work done 'wherever', I suppose this is for the same reason that some people get their earrings done with piercing guns.. because sadly they do not know any better. I highly value my body, health and safety and therefore I checked the Accredited Piercing Association's website in search for somebody I could trust. I called Johnson Tattoo because I had a couple of questions about the particular piercing I was looking to get. The information I received from Roscoe was beyond complete and made me feel very at ease for my appointment. I arrived at the shop the next day, and was happy to meet Roscoe (the owner) in person. He made me feel completely at ease, and in everything he did he kept me informed. We got into conversation about his history as a piercer and tattoo artist, the shop and the art of piercing in general. Before I knew it, I was done and ready to go. As every reputable piercer would, I was sent home with after care instructions and cleansing solution for my new jewelry. The studio itself is a pretty standard looking tattoo shop, with impeccable cleanliness. I have brought in my stepdaughter, and was looking to bring in my niece as well. However, it is good to know that Roscoe holds an age bar of 16 (with parents present) for piercing underaged people. Well Roscoe's dad started and owns tattooing in Michigan. Beyond clean and smells like bleach which is good. Roscoe is a professional that cares and takes the time to listen. I will always use him for my artwork as best you can get in area. He has been doing since he was what? 10 ha. i want to Thank Roscoe and the other Gentleman that was there with him . I have been hesitate to get another Tattoo seeing as there a 9 year break between my last one. I called and emailed this establishment, even took the time to check them out . I explained to Roscoe my simple but yet meaningful to me tattoo idea and he got to work on it giving me his professionalism as far as placing style ,etc perfecting so to speak. With all the choices out there how do you find an artist, a true artist to properly express your individuality? You go to Johnson Tattoo and have Roscoe or Tony work on you. The shop has been in business for years, and both of the artists have huge portfolios showing the range of their work, both custom and flash art. I have a large custom piece from each of these two gentlemen, and I get more compliments on those two than I do from any of my others. My husband has a large chest piece from Roscoe, beautiful work. And beautiful work takes time, and costs money. If something is going to be carved indelibly into my tender flesh for all eternity, I want it to be something I am proud of. If you go to Johnson's with a basic design idea in mind, expect to spend a bit of time discussing it with either Roscoe or Tony. And then be prepared to schedule an appointment to have the work done after the details of the design have been worked out. Johnson Tattoo provides quality, affordable work. It is a very clean shop and strict provisions set by Wayne County are followed. They are regularly inspected and pass every single time. They are experienced, knowledgeable, and dynamic. Honestly, it's not your stereotypical tattoo shop. It's not full of obnoxious people--just down to earth folks that are clinical in their practice, yet fruitful in their attitudes. I have had all of my work done by Roscoe.
