My husband and I have been looking at so many different RV's and we are first time owners. We visited every single RV lot in the Portland/Vancouver area. When we went to Johnson RV the first time, we had been to several other places. Our salesman was a guy named Sam. He was very honest and helpful, and just wanted to get us into an RV that would fit us in our needs. I had told him that they should have a popcorn machine, like a lot of the other Dealers do...and twenty minutes later, another saleman, named Cory, brought us out a bag of popcorn as we toured the RV's...LOL...we thought that was quite funny. Sam had a RV coming in on a trade in, and knew it was the one that we would want. So he called us when he got it in. My wife and I visited this dealership in Aug, 2010, and were very disappointed with the entire experience. Plenty of motor home inventory and a very clean facility, but the salesperson we dealt with was woefully inexperienced. When I called to express my unhappiness, the sales manager passed us on to another equally hopeless salesperson. We finally gave up on this company and went elsewhere. I was extremely disappointed in this dealership. Unless you want to spend a hundred grand, they pretty much don't want your business. The salesman was nice enough but just not willing to deal. My mom has bought two other motorhomes from them and yet they still do not care. You would think being a returning customer they would be really urgent to take care of returning business. Although we didn't buy our motorhome from Johnson, we chose to use them for a repair (as they were pre-approved by our insurance company). We also used them to install a tow bar. Both experiences were disappointing. The repair took longer than expected, which is certainly forgivable, except that we are still, two months later, waiting on a window shade. Since we have left the area to travel, the shade will have to be shipped to us (not sure how that will work) and we will have to install it ourselves. We got our coach back with residue from the repair left dripping down the side, shoe prints on our brand new mattress, and no attempt to vacuum the mess made inside. The tow bar ended up being equally as frustrating. AFTER they ordered the parts, we brought our car in and were told that our car would not be able to be towed (CVT transmission). So we traded our car in for a vehicle that could be towed, made the appt in service and, upon showing up, were told that they couldn't get to it until the next week. We expressed our unhappiness since we live almost two hours away and were driving two cars each trip in order to leave one. Long story short, they got us in and had transporters bring us the rig and the car when completed. We were happy with the concessions they made for us UNTIL our first day out on the open road when the cable for the brake actuator broke! We will not be putting our safety in the hands of Johnson RV again. Such a shame because the individuals that we dealt with were pleasant, down to earth, and really seemed to care. Update: last month (July) Johnson sent us a $200 check so we could just get a shade ourselves. It also appears that the window they installed was used, not new. I can't say enough about this dealership from its salesman (thanks Rudy), to service ( Brian and Mike). We bought a 5 year old travel trailer that was in good condition, but by the time the service department and the detainers finished, it was delivered looking like brand new. Johnson RV of Sandy, Oregon Deleted my comments on their Facebook page because they did not like the truth about their company. October 2025 I bought my second RV from them a 2004 Trail Lite Motorhome by R-Vision. When I Bought the RV the day I left their lot the brakes on the car dolly that they sold me burnt up on the way home because they wired it wrong and they stayed on all the way from Sandy, OR to Madras, OR., The AC unit at the dash did not work, I took it back to them to fix it and all they could fix was the Brakes on the dolly which they took to another shop as their crew could not do the work. They never fixed the AC as they did not have competent crew to do the work. I was 2 years later that I got it fixed by Guaranty RV in Junction City, OR which was done and paid for by my warranty that I purchased when I bought the RV which means that Johnson RV did not have to pay for the work. The most recent trip that my wife and I took was to North Eastern Washington, Northern Pan handle of Idaho, Western Montana, down to Utah for granddaughters wedding. Coming out of Montana on October 10 we started having trouble with power where we were going from 70 MPH to 35 MPH and the Check Engine Light came on. Pulled off the road and waited an hour and then were able to continue on our trip. (I purchase the Warranty on October 9, 2015 it was a 36 month or 36,000 Mile Warranty, at this point I have only put less than 6,000 miles on the Motorhome) The same situation happened a couple more times and the Check Engine Light stays on all the time. Then upon leaving Utah on October 15, we start having the same problem just after arriving in Idaho. Pulled off and tried to find a shop to trouble shoot the problem and not one was open or the ones that were open could not do anything for us. I purchased Seafoam Gas and engine treatment which seemed to help for a tank of Gas and then we started to have more trouble after we got close to Pendleton, OR. Finally pulled off west of Hermiston, OR at a truck stop. Walked around the Motorhome and smelled what smelled like hot brakes but the brakes were cool to the touch. So I checked the Transmission Fluid and It was at the full mark and had a bright red color, then I smelled the oil and it smelled burnt. So I thing that the Transmission was over heating. Waited a half hour and took our van off of the car dolly and our Daughter Katy drove the Van following us back home. I tried to call and talk to Johnson RV and the gal at the service department said she needed me to talk to the Manager put me on hold and came back on after several minutes and said that all the managers were in a meeting. All I wanted was to find out if they could help me in this situation and fix the problem. But no response because of the Managers meeting. This is the same excuse that they have given me before when I tried to solve other Issues with them. They still have not called me back and it has been 3 day since I last talked to them. You would think that when they sell a RV that they would honor their commitment to having and keeping repeat customers. I say Beware when dealing with Johnson RV of Sandy, OR. read more

Shockingly good experience with Johnson RV regarding the sale of our Airstream Interstate! We are in the South Puget Sound region and wanted to explore selling our 2014 Extended model Interstate. I researched wholesale values and then Contacted Johnson's new location in Fife and they put me in touch with Dan from their Oregon store. We communicated with Dan via text messages, sent many photos, came to an acceptable price range for our rig. Then, within 48 hours, they came to the house inspected the rig, produced the transaction documents, drove away and the money was wired into my account within an hour. Absolutely unlike any other vehicle sell I've ever encountered. Bought lots of personal vehicles over the years, been an eBay member for 19 years, sold countless vehicles online, but nothing compared to this transaction. When we test drove our motorhome before buying it, engine alarm came on, the reassured us it was nothing and they would take care of it! We went back a week later to pick it up and on the way home, which was a 4 hour drive the engine alarm came on again! We took it to the nearest Cat dealer, and they found that the turbo needed to be replaced... We had to fight to get Johnson RV to pay for it.. They argued because we didn't buy the warranty! We said we at least expected it to make it home bridge needing repair! They did pay for the turbo. Two weeks later, one of the injectors failed and we had to spend $1500 more dollars! Bought a new Class C motorhome in April 2016. Had been looking for this particular floorplan for a couple of years. Had talked with Rod at Johnson RV two or three times while we were looking. Finally found exactly what we were looking for one day when we were just cruising by Johnson RV and decided to stop in and look around. Rod (salesman) was again very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and professional. Buying negotiation went smoothly and they were fair with our trade-in (15 year old Class A). When we picked up the unit they had done everything they said they would and kept all of our agreements from the negotiations. Everyone was friendly and helpful Went back in July 2016 for 5 or 6 small warranty issues. Some were really small, adjust a bay door, tighten a lock, put more caulk in corner of shower. They did't complain and did everything I asked. They also found an issue we didn't even notice. Jayson and Doug were very helpful and lots of patience to put up with us. We just had a great sales experience with Chris Redd at Johnson RV. He was outstanding. We weren't sure exactly what we were looking for but with a small amount of conversation Chris was able to locate several Rvs that were not only what we were looking for but in the price range we had given him as well. We NEVER had any of that slick, pushy salesmanship from Chris, he never tried to "sell" us. We also learned so much from him as he pointed out benefits and detriments of the various models. When we wanted to talk to a finance person he facilitated that. we never had to talk to multiple people he took care of everything and when we asked about a slightly lower price was able to negotiate that for us. I now feel this was a rash judgement about the entire dealership when only one person was the real problem. I now feel that one person will no longer be a problem. Stay away from this joint! Frankly there are more competent RV people working at Safeway then there are working at Johnson RV. I purchased a small travel trailer at Johnson RV (big mistake). They claim to do a comprehensive inspection of their units before they are resold. After I got it home I began to be concerned about whether the wheel bearings have been packed or whether they are the type that are factory installed and never need re-packing. I called about this on Saturday and they said that someone would call with answers Monday morning. Monday after noon I got a call from a man that didn't have any answers and said that he would have someone call me right back. It still has not happened but I called back and talked to Melissa who said that they wouldn't have done that because they don't do that kind of work but maybe they farmed that out. AN RV SALES LOT WITH A SERVICE CENTER THAT DOESN'T INSPECT AND/OR REPLACE WHEEL BEARINGS? Can that be true? Melissa is the person I dealt with earlier about the height my trailer ball needed to be, so that I could pick up my trailer. The salesperson told me that was her job. She didn't have a clue how to figure that out so I explained it to her and she still got it wrong. read more

Great customer service during the buying process. Austin was great. He asked excellent questions, and did not try to sell us more than what we wanted. Financing department was excellent also. The only department I am disappointed in, is the service department. They do not return phone calls, nor do they answer the phone. It took 3 calls before anyone called me. Today I had an appointment to bring our new to us motor home in for a covered repair. I needed to reschedule, so I called. Once again, no one answered the phone, and no one has returned my call. We made the horrible mistake of actually purchasing our coach from this company. But they sell the model we wanted and they were the closest. We will not ever use them again and can't wait until our first year of factory warranty is over so that we can get our extended warranty work done elsewhere. As soon as we put our down payment/deposit on the rv down (they ordered one for us with the colors we want) communication stopped. We were told it would take 6-8 weeks for the coach to arrive. And like two months later we still knew nothing. This dealership will not return your calls. And yes, we ended up paying more than original discussions. We have learned more about our rv since having it than they knew. It doesn't have features they said it had, and it has features they said it didn't have. We love the coach, but with any brand new rv purchase there are bugs to work out. We haven't owned this for quite a year yet but it has spent well over 6 weeks on and off in their shop. Much of this (most) is for problems that were either not fixed, or not fixed correctly the first, second or third time it was in. In other words, if there were 5 things on the list, one problem was fixed, 2 fixed wrong, and two problems not addresssed. So back we go again (costing gas money for both the rv and the car we follow with and come back with, about $65 a trip). You can call that dealership to talk to your service guy, but you will leave a message and they will NOT call you back. They have been working on doing a better job of communicating, but they don't tell you anything. My coach has been at the dealership service department for 18 days now. I called yesterday to ask what has been done to the rv and they did not know! They said they would check into it and let me know this morning. It's only 11:27 right now, it's still morning. But if a service department has your rv for 18 days don't you think they would have some idea of what they've done to it? Have missed an opportunity to take a trip some friends invited us to yesterday. Will I get to use it to go see family on Christmas? Doubtful. At least not with everything done to it. We would yet again have to take it back. Our brand new from the factory rv has spent more than 10 weeks in service departments and it's not even a year old. Most of this is returning for stuff they forgot to do or did wrong. Avoid this dealership at all costs! I spent $140,000.00 there for my coach! The "customer service" ended the moment they had our signature and down payment. The people in the above posts were brilliant to stay away from this dealership! When I go to upgrade I will not be back to this place. The one star rating is too high for this company. This is a huge purchase, don't risk it here. read more

We love the lines of RVs they carry, new and used, we enjoy browsing and the staff are eager to answer questions but they gladly allow you space and never pushy. The personnel are fantastic from the store to sales and service. We always find what we need in the store even for our older RV, or they will gladly order promptly. The entire staff has worked with us to meet our needs, answer questions, assist, even if you aren't making a purchase at that time. Initially we were thrilled with the service, and we found a coach we loved. They helped us through the process and everyone was nice. When it came time to talk money they played hardball, but then you have to expect that. We did not get a deal on our coach but we paid a reasonable price. Initially we were very pleased. Our first trip with the new RV was during fairly cool weather. On the way back I turned on the AC to see how it worked and it did not work at all- just hot air. I called our sales rep and left a message asking what we could do about this. 2 days later I got a call from the service department stating that since we had not purchased the extended warranty (an extra $6k) they could not help us. They had assured us that all of the systems had been tested and found in good shape when we picked up the RV. I expected a bit more concern when I reported that the very first time I turned on an essential part of the vehicle it failed to work at all. I was also disturbed that the sales rep passed the problem to a service technician who had no authority to deal with this issue rather than call me back. SO, If you go here for an RV, be sure you test EVERYTHING before you sign on the bottom line. read more

We are sounding like a broken record but we were back at Johnson RV service division for installation of a tow package for our new Jeep Cherokee. Our Leisure Travel Unity MB (we affectionally call the Birdie Bus) also had to have work on it to make it tow-worthy. The price was competitive and, of course, the service was excellent. Since we had to wait quite a while for the installation, we asked if a few personal touches could be installed on our Birdie Bus. "No problem," Bryan, the warranty manager said. Doug, a real service master, took care of all of our requests and gave us his valuable time to provide us much needed refresher training. His tips of the trade were especially helpful. He was very gracious with his knowledge and patient with our repetitive questions. We appreciated his good humor. Bryan put is in touch with Cory, Johnson RV's technology guru. He had all the answers for how best to set Birdie up with an wifi extender and router. He spent a great deal of time educating us on options and product choices. He also introduced us to satellite services. We will be coming back for those installs very soon. Thanks very much for the wealth of information Cory. Installation got delayed on the second day so Bryan provided us lunch. We asked Bryan where to get Birdie washed before we left town and he and two buddies pitched in and washed Birdie for us. We were able to check emails and conduct business using their internet. So, all in all, the time spent was both productive and pleasant. Good thing we stayed close by Johnson RV after installation was completed. The next morning we couldn't get our car to budge hooked up to Birdie. We disconnected and drove to Johnson where Donny took us by the hand for a second time to explain the process. What a guy. He just kept smiling and repeating himself until eventually the glazed look on our face went away. Thank you Donny. We will buy you a Guinesse anytime. We have decided to adopt Bryan. He is just to valuable to let out of our sight. Thank you for your continued great service and for acting as general manager for our many requests. And, a special thanks to their service manager Frank, who does not get the recognition deserved for leading such a fine team. I can't imagine that negative reviews. We stop by on our way home from an event in Gresham just to look. Bryan was terrific. He quoted a price that was $23,000 less than the MSRP OF 113,000 on a new Forest Rived Forester with the Mercedes chassis. We left for home and stopped off in Maupin. After thinking it through, we went back a bought it. The evening in Maupin, we looked for that model on the Internet and found they were lower than any stripped down like models. Very upfront with no pressure and no gimmicks. Could not be more satisfied. read more

In early July my wife and I purchased a 2019 Jaco Greyhawk Prestige 30XP from Johnson RV in Sandy Oregon. Overall, Our purchase experience turned out to be a disappointment, when we showed up to pickup our new motorhome the staff had prepped the wrong RV for delivery. We sadly aloud them to talk us into taking the motorhome they prepared for delivery in place of the one we originally wanted...Mistake! We ended up with a 2018 30XP titled as a 2019. As they hurried us through the walkdown/acceptance process items were overlooked needing attention. We did identify a few items during the walkdown that have still not been fixed (GPS and Window shade). We indicated to them at the time of purchase, that we had planned to use the RV within the following weeks and needed to have it ready. We live approximately 4 hours from the dealership and did agreed to return it for the repairs following our first use. I delivered the motorhome to their shop and was told that they would need to keep it August 6th through August 10th. We dropped the motorhome on Sunday August 5th and was told that someone would contact us Monday the 6th by 10:30 a.m. We heard nothing until I called them late in the afternoon. I was told that the manager of the autobody shop and service manager would contact me the following morning, again nothing from ether. I called again and was referred to Emily Jacques and was told she would personally handle any issues we had. Emily was also very hard to reach, I would call and leave a message and she would rarely return my calls so I would had to keep calling until I could reach her. I did receive a call from Brian in the paint shop and discussed the painting issues identified for repair. I tried again to contact someone Wednesday (Emily and Brian) with no response from them. Thursday I finally talked to Emily and she told me that all of the items identified had been repaired and was waiting for the body shop to finish their work. (not true) I talked to Brian in the body shop Friday and he indicated that the motorhome would not be ready for pickup as originally agreed to. Poor communication again Monday however I was able to make contact with Emily late afternoon indicating that the motorhome would be ready for pickup Tuesday morning August 14th. We arrived to get the motorhome and found that the only repairs that had been completed was the painting. GPS unit still didn't work and the over cab window shade still does not work properly. I ask to talk to the service manager Frank Borges and he listened to my story and seamed very interested in making sure that things would get taken care of ASAP. Well today is August 27th I sent an e-mail to Frank on August 23rd asking what his plan was to resolve these issues and to no surprise to me I still haven't received an answer. Poor Communication! I plan to contact JACO, share my experience and see where they recommend we take our new motorhome for repair. Ed Lamm read more

We walked into Johnson RV just expecting to look, not buy. After talking to our sales person, Chris Redd, he listened to our needs and wants in a RV. He asked us good valid questions and offered us options we had not thought of. We walked out with a beautiful RV. Financing dept was easy to work with. The walk through and orientation went well. We did purchase the extended warranty with the understanding it is fully transferable if we choose to sell the RV in a couple of years. As far as service, warranty work, and Johnson RV living up to all their sales promises etc. we have yet to cross that bridge and will write a review on the service dept at that time. Another factor for us buying with Johnson it was close to home and they said they would take back the RV at anytime on consignment for us. But for now, we are ready to go have some fun! Overall, I would say our experience with Chris was fair and honest and we truly hope that when we were told we were now part of the Johnson RV Family they mean it! I had no idea about how to go about selling my RV but I dreaded the experience. I contacted Johnson RV and one other major dealer. I heard back from Dan Grimes at Johnson in no time. He asked me a lot of questions, explained the process (at first it seemed too simple) and promised to get back to me within a couple of days. True to his word, Dan contacted me with a very good offer which I accepted. From there he turned the file over to Mike in the transportation department who made the arrangements to have my RV picked up. Parker flew in to Albuquerque and met me a the location we agreed upon. He inspected the vehicle thoroughly, we completed some paperwork and Johnson RV wired the agreed upon full payment to my bank. Parker then drove off with the RV. Nothing could have been simpler! Dan, Mike and Parker were so efficient and courteous. They created a great experience. By the way, if you are wondering about the other dearer I contacted, the deal with Johnson was fully completed and the RV was headed down the road by the time they got back to me expressing an interest and an estimate that was $5,000 less than Johnson's. read more

I should have heeded some of the reviews I read here before purchasing my RV from Johnson RV. It felt good in the process. Our Salesperson was excellent and the transaction was smooth. The problem is they nickel and dime you in their store to get you outfitted. Given the outlay I just gave them, you'd think they'd throw some basics in as a goodwill package to new owners. Just 3 weeks later, I have a motorhome that is not operational and a crank handle came off in my wife's hands. Johnson's response? They did talk with us about how to correct it and then said we needed to get it towed to them so they could look at the 3 week purchased Motorhome at my expense. Nice. Stay away from this place. The good feeling will disappear if you have to work with them to solve a problem. read more

Johnson RV does not repair RVs that are not purchased from them. Seems like poor policy to me plus a possible lost sales opportunity. Pity the poor person needing service on their way up or down the mountain. I guess I won't be buying an RV from them. read more
