The plies separate, the strand snaps with minimal tension, and the yarn is clearly structurally compromised. At this price point, I expect yarn that can withstand basic handling. This skein behaves like old, brittle, or under-plied stock, and is completely unusable for any durable project. I've worked with many yarns (including much cheaper ones) and have never experienced breakage like this during normal winding. If this is how the store curates and stores their inventory, especially given the premium pricing. I won't be purchasing yarn here again unless quality control improve. The women here working are nice enough, but quality makes me not wanna come back.

Our upcoming visit to the islands is just around the corner, our creative & talented seamstress has her own prints but we'd like our own designs to choose from. We've purchased here before (can't believe I haven't done the review!) and Jacqueline actually loved their prints--so did we. The Aloha Shirts were simply fabulous! So here we are again to find more distinctive Hawaiian designs. Today, only "Baba" ("father" in Farsi) was in attendance at the shop, the last time we were here (if I'm not mistaken) was probably before the pandemic. Back then, there were a few ladies working here and were all Pacific Islanders. Baba was friendly & personable. The selection is fairly massive, wall to wall, 2 aisles worth and some on the back wall that were plain (I did not check that back wall!). Pricing? Definitely sky rocketed, just like everything else. It's about $10/yard (the material that's thicker). Hubby needs 3 yards per shirt (XXL Tall). It's a pretty penny, plus the price for custom tailor, that's another discussion lol. Given the price tag, perhaps we will explore other fabric stores (next time) that will accommodate our needs. Plus, when we purchased from the ladies that were here before, they gave us a discount for the amount we paid for the fabrics. Little perks go a long way. In any case, this was a good (learning) experience.

The shop is small but cute and had so many selections of yarn that I wanted to spend time looking at them all. However, I did not feel very welcomed in the store. They zeroed in on me once I walked in like I was an outsider, asking me what I was looking for, but not in a very friendly way. It felt like I was intruding and I didn't want to spend longer than I had to in there even though I wanted to look at all the yarn. It's clearly a community there but not a welcoming one. Not a great experience for someone visiting their first yarn shop. I am somewhat relieved to see other reviews saying the same thing, knowing it wasn't just me who had this kind of experience. This is the yarn shop closest to me but I am hesitant to come back here based on my experience.

1/16/26: We ordered a kit online and paid for 2 day shipping. Four business days later, USPS…read moretracking still showed the package in pre-shipment (awaiting package). Called the store who said it was out of their hands and we should wait longer. Then they asked us to wait one more day despite there being no evidence they ever took the package to USPS for shipping. They kept claiming there was nothing more they could do to help. When we asked for a receipt that the package had been dropped off to USPS, they admitted they pay someone else to pickup packages for delivery, but they couldn't reach that person to investigate further (this was during business hours). When we requested reimbursement of the order and shipping fees, they agreed and then hung up on us. We had to call back to confirm the reimbursement. We don't trust their business practices or the way they manage customer concerns. Two stars only because they reimbursed us. Update on 2/18/26: The kit finally arrived, but we sent it back because they had reimbursed us. Imagine our surprise when the box (now torn up and beaten) returned to us. It was marked "RTS" with their address marked out. Inside was a bunch of trash (the kit had been removed). When we checked tracking, we found they received the box on February 3 at 1109a and had it marked as "addressee unknown" on Feb 4 at 953a. Return to Sender was processed Feb 4 at 1024a. They had it for almost 24 hours before they processed it as RTS. To say their business practices need improvement is a huge understatement. This is retaliation in its lowest form. If service and respect are important to you, avoid this business.
