Of all the terms people would use to describe me, "gym rat" is absolutely not one of them. I have…read morenever been someone who would spend hours in the gym "working out". So when FDC gave me a gift for 4 sessions with Perfect Workout, I went with a fair amount of skepticism. Why? Because the program is 1:1 training, with a goal of muscle 'failure' within 2 minutes on any exercise, total of 20 minutes workout 1-2 times a week. How could that possibly make a difference? Still, I went, way back in February, and I've been going ever since. Here's what I love: It is absolutely 20 minutes, no kidding. It's a seriously difficult workout for those 20 minutes. Training is 1:1. There are only two trainers and two people being trained at any time. The trainers are experts. Just because I am not a 'gym rat' does not mean I have never trained or 'worked out'. The difference is that the trainer is paying very close attention to my form, making tiny adjustments that mean I'm using muscles in ways I have never had to before. I learned that I had bad habits, the biggest of which was engaging my shoulders in place of other muscles such as my pectorals or biceps. The 20 minutes, no lie, they are HARD minutes. Everything hurts. By the end my legs feel like jello and my arms like lead. The results are worth it: I'm stronger, though I'll never be a bodybuilder, and I'm stronger in places I have never been before in my entire 56 year life. It's pretty cool. Perfect Workout is not cheap. You can train less expensively many other places. Those trainers may or may not be as good, and you don't really know better until you've trained better. The other thing I love is that my training with Kristi is highly personalized and a dialogue. Sometimes she will think my muscle is at fail, and I know it's not, so I push it. Other times I slip into an old habit and she corrects it right away. It's quite productive. It's been 10 months since I started, and I am still committed and look forward to my workout. For me, it's 100% worth the expense as I'm getting far more out of each session than I ever have before.

I absolutely love this gym! The owner, Francesca, is extremely knowledgeable and very personable…read more She showed me techniques that will definitely help me work out more efficiently. I learned more in my first 30 minute workout than I've learned in quite a while about healthy living and the proper way to exercise. I definitely recommend The Perfect Workout to everyone who is looking for results, and to improve their overall health.

I have been going for about two months now and have only become more motivated after each class to keep coming back. I have physical limitations as well as 'can't quote do that yet' limitations and have always been able to discuss what I can do and what I can try to do with the coaches. The fellow members are super friendly and inviting. Even if you don't know someone they are bound to come up and introduce themselves which makes coming back all the easier. The gym is its own little village and has made it a great experience so far.

Weekday classes start at 5:15 AM with the last one starting at 7 PM, several classes Saturday mornings and a couple of bootcamp classes on Sundays. Besides the standard CrossFit classes and the Sunday bootcamps there are also "Open Gym" times and the "Broomall Barbell Club" which focuses on Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting. We tried a couple of globo gyms before coming here and never looked back. If you are looking for a place where almost everyone knows your name, then this is what you want. The coach will go over the workout at the beginning, get everyone warmed up, help folks figure out how to scale up or scale down depending on their situation (fitness level, familiarity with the movements, previous injuries, etc.), and everyone will cheer on until the last person is done. Workouts are posted prior to week start so you can cherry pick you classes if you really want (though not recommended as you should work on your weaknesses). Speaking of working on your weaknesses, the Broomall Barbell Club coaches will certainly allow you to work on something else as you need and they are right there to give guidance. And of course you can work on things during Open Gym times, which are during/around almost every class as there are two rooms to work out in. As I said you can certainly scale up and down so they have folks that have been into fitness for years or even decades and then they have folks, like me, who started from square one.
