I cannot say enough good things about the gym and the environment the coaches, owner and fellow gym goers have helped cultivate here. I have been going for about two months now and have only become more motivated after each class to keep coming back. I have physical limitations as well as 'can't quote do that yet' limitations and have always been able to discuss what I can do and what I can try to do with the coaches. The fellow members are super friendly and inviting. Even if you don't know someone they are bound to come up and introduce themselves which makes coming back all the easier. The gym is its own little village and has made it a great experience so far. read more

I live in Richmond, VA but I grew up in the Philly burbs. I go to Crossfit Delaware Valley when I'm home visiting my family. I first encountered Rob's gym in September 2010. I was still new-ish to Crossfit then, and a little nervous about going somewhere new (this was my first experience outside my home Crossfit box). Rob was so helpful and provided great feedback. It is a very welcoming environment, fostered by both the trainers and the members. I travel for work a lot and sometimes don't get as much Crossfit in as I'd like. The trainers at Delaware Valley never hestitate to give extra attention if I need help with my form or tweaking a technique. Also, I notice the class sizes are a little smaller than my home box which I really like. I feel like I get more instruction. All in all, this is a great place to be a member or just to drop in. I've been back about 6 times since that first visit and I will certainly be back again. read more

Over 6 years of experience with this gym and no plans to change. Great variety of coaches coming from different backgrounds. Weekday classes start at 5:15 AM with the last one starting at 7 PM, several classes Saturday mornings and a couple of bootcamp classes on Sundays. Besides the standard CrossFit classes and the Sunday bootcamps there are also "Open Gym" times and the "Broomall Barbell Club" which focuses on Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting. We tried a couple of globo gyms before coming here and never looked back. If you are looking for a place where almost everyone knows your name, then this is what you want. The coach will go over the workout at the beginning, get everyone warmed up, help folks figure out how to scale up or scale down depending on their situation (fitness level, familiarity with the movements, previous injuries, etc.), and everyone will cheer on until the last person is done. Workouts are posted prior to week start so you can cherry pick you classes if you really want (though not recommended as you should work on your weaknesses). Speaking of working on your weaknesses, the Broomall Barbell Club coaches will certainly allow you to work on something else as you need and they are right there to give guidance. And of course you can work on things during Open Gym times, which are during/around almost every class as there are two rooms to work out in. As I said you can certainly scale up and down so they have folks that have been into fitness for years or even decades and then they have folks, like me, who started from square one. read more

I've been trying different work outs all my life. Everything from running to heavy weight lifting and nothing comes close to this Crossfit workout. The workouts are on another level but whats more impressive is the support and training of the staff and owner. My son and I have been attending this crossfit box for about 5 months and i must admit that now I'm finally confident that i've found the one thing that will help me reach all my health and fitness goals. The members and staff at Crossfit Delaware Valley are all awesome!! read more

I'm in Philly (actually, the Philly burbs, to be more precise) for the summer and wanted to find a Crossfit box out here to work out at and -- though I haven't liked much else about the Philly burbs -- the folks (both the trainers and the members) at Crossfit Delaware Valley make me wish I could work out here forever. Whenever I travel, I try to workout in a local CF box and, though I've definitely drunk the Crossfit koolaid, I'm not equally impressed by every box I visit. The trainers here are top notch and take all of their athletes seriously -- even new folks who aren't in great shape and have crazy injuries. The daily WODs are programmed in-house (not from mainsite) and tend to include a strength part and a metcon part. I can't even imagine the kind of shape I would be in if I were able to train with Rob and his crew long term. If this Crossfit is close enough for you to make it a part of your regular routine and you've been thinking about joining a gym but don't even know where to start, you owe it to yourself to check it out... it won't feel good at first, and you will get your butt kicked, but if you go regularly and try hard, you'll probably be in the best shape of your life within a couple months. read more

Disclaimer: I am from the Bay Area but I had the pleasure to experience a week at this CrossFit box. I've been crossfitting for about 6 months at CrossFit Santa Clara. I decided to check out Rob's gym since it was closest to my boyfriend's parent's house, Rob has great credentials, and because the programming on their website looked legit and challenging. The box is HUGE and the trainers here are helpful and knowledgeable. However. what I liked best about this gym is the community. People here are down-to-earth nice! If you need water after doing a WOD in the humid humid sun (they don't have a water fountain), someone will share theirs with you. If you need a ride so you can get your WOD in (especially for those visiting CrossFitters), someone at the gym will happily offer to do it for you. Or if you just want one-on-one attention while doing a lift, someone will be there to spot you and give you nitty gritty feedback. However, I do have some reservations about this box: how they scale the movements and "Women's Rx." One of the WODs we did had ring dips in it/ A trainer told the class that if one could not do ring dips, he/she should sub it with push ups. Personally, I feel like, the ring dips should have been scaled as ring dips with a band, regular dips, or regular dips with a band. How is one suppose to get a ring dip if he/she is always subbing them with push ups?! Also as for female Rx, the seem to strictly follow the rule that women's prescribed weight should be 1/3 of the men's prescribed weight. This is not always true on Crossfit.com. For example, with box jumps, the standard for women is 20". At this box, during a WOD while doing box jumps on a 20" box, I was interrupted to be told that the women's Rx box jump height is 16" and that I should switch boxes. I was already doing most of the reps unbroken, so why should I scale down? I was skeptical of this gym and CrossFit in general when I joined, as I wasn't convinced that they would want to or know how to handle a completely out of shape novice. A year after joining, I'm reminded that this is the exact gym that I need. What sets this gym apart is the trainers. Hands on, seasoned and professional trainers, each with different areas of expertise, are enormously committed to the progress of the members. Since each class is capped at 10 people (my class is usually about half that), the attention by trainers is unsurpassed by any other gym in the area. I feel much safer knowing that the risk of injury is reduced with this level of attention. The owner, Rob, really strives to make this a welcoming community. Successes and gains are recognized and celebrated by all. A grueling workout quickly becomes a group effort, rather than an individual ordeal. It makes it more fun, and it makes you work that much harder and progress that much faster. I can't speak highly enough for this gym and the trainers. The workouts are harder than you can imagine, but the trainers will give their all to anyone willing to put forth genuine effort. Hard work is rewarded ten-fold. read more

I've been with CFDV since December of 2017. In the past I've tried various other gyms, trying to find the best fitness program that worked with my schedule and goals. You name it, big box gyms, yoga, pilates, spin, running, HIIT...I've tried it all. What I found with the rest is that I either lost the motivation to go (big box gyms) or hit a plateau with my fitness. I was hesitant to give CrossFit a try, presuming I'd be in over my head. After tons of research on location, class times, and experience, I decided to try CFDV because I felt it was the best CrossFit gym in the area. I'm traveling from the border of Havertown and Wynnewood and need my commute to be 15minutes or less. When I started, I realized I was in WAY over my head and had so much further to go with my fitness and nutrition. I decided I'd give it a year and go from there. Fortunately, everything can be scaled, everyone cheers one another on, and the only person to compete against is yourself. The trainers are great at instructing proper form to prevent injury, pushing you but not to a point where you'll get hurt, and keeping it FUN! The other members are great too and you'll see everything from elite athletes to those new to fitness; seniors, expectant moms, and kids too. Need childcare? They have that during the 9:30am sessions as well. Will I be sticking around past my year, yes. A friend just asked me this very question today. Why? It works and I want to see what I can actually do. CFDV is the best CrossFit gym in the Delaware County area. They've been around for many years, have consistent trainers that get to know you, have a wide variety of class times to fit all schedules, and are supportive of all fitness levels. If you're looking to give your fitness and nutrition a jump start, give it a try. You won't be disappointed and you won't get bored. read more

I've been using this box for 5.5 months. Everyone has been very friendly and welcoming. The instructors are great about making sure we use proper form for the movements. There are lots of classes at all times of the day, so it's a lot easier to fit a workout into my busy schedule. I've seen some other boxes in the area and CFDV's box is way bigger. Crossfit has changed my life and CFDV has been a great place for this period in my development. I look forward to achieving more personal fitness goals at this box, with this group of people. Plus if you haven't already, you've gotta run to this box to see Rob's calves! read more

My business travel takes me all over the world and I've had the luxury of visiting close to 50 crossfit boxes over the past two years. This box is number 1. Here's why: 1. Trainers: Rob and his staff are very hands on and helpful. Regardless if you are a visitor or a regular, you will get focused attention on your technique and form. Additionally, they are very knowledgeable. They have trainers that specialize on everything from powerlifting to nutrition. On top of that they are exceptionally friendly and interested in your time spent at CFDV. 2. Space: They have all the equipment needed for any type of workout, and plenty of space to get it done without being on top of the person next to you. You never have to run waves of workouts. 3. Programming: There is almost always a strength portion and a met-con portion to the workout. CFDV doesn't follow the main site, and does a much better job of giving a full workout in the hour that you spend with them. 4. The People: They welcome visitors like they've known them their entire lives. Regardless if you have been doing CrossFit for 5 days, you will not be intimidated by this box. The members are as helpful as the staff. 5. Class sizes: Typically anywhere from 5-12 in a class with a primary trainer and a backup for the larger classes. The Philadelphia area has many boxes to choose from, but I drive the extra 20 minutes to go to CrossFit Delaware Valley. read more

If you are looking for a safe environment to lose a few pounds, or train for competitions there is programming for you. In addition to basic CrossFit there are specialty classes Bootcamp, Kettlebells, and Olympic Lifting. read more

Loved the positive atmosphere. Coach Rob is incredibly good at identifying your strengths and encouraging you to build on them.

Can't say enough about CFDV. I stumbled upon it after complaining to my brother in northern NJ about my stale fitness routine. He did a search and found it for me. Rob is super accommodating and all of his trainers are very knowledgable and friendly. All fitness levels are always welcomed and I never feel intimidated by any of the workouts. I also just so happen to work out with the funnest people ever!! Wouldn't trade my box for the world!! Thanks Rob for being so fabulous!! read more
