Second time returning...Still a great job. Downside though is they don't accept credit cards anymore and I never have cash on me. Darn...

I needed a quick manicure for Thanksgiving and since the place I always go to was super booked I had to try my luck somewhere else. Couple of places I walked into were busy as well and this is the one where I ended up. I was greeted by a man (which I think was the owner) and was asked what I needed done. That was the end of my interaction with the people there. The lady who did my manicure has not said a single word to me. She hurt me once when cutting the cuticles and when I saw the way she shaped my nails, I changed the super dark color I selected at fist to the invisible color. Oh yeah, she asked me if I wanted french manicure when she saw the color I switched for. I said 'no, thanks'. I guess this place is mainly for acrylic nails, it has a very strong acrylic smell and the feeling is factory-like. People are wearing masks and at least 4 people came in to do/fill their nails in the 30 minutes I was there. I will definitely not go back there. DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY! Not only is this place super dirty, they talk smack about you right in front of your face. John acts as if he is doing YOU a favor by doing your nails. There is acrylic dust everywhere and you are breathing it in. This place is the chop shop of acrylic nails. I had the gelish done and it peeled within a week. They have a poor selection of colors and a bad attitude. I'll take my business elsewhere! read more

I was a patron of this salon for over 5 yrs and Kaitlin always worked on me. About a month ago Kaitlin told me she would be going on a month long vacation and that I could come in and have John work on me while she was on vacation. John was next to us at the time of this conversation and told me to go elsewhere because he had a very busy schedule and could not fit me in. He told me he didn't deal with cancellations and customers being late so I should go elsewhere while Kaitlin was away. I was appalled by this because I had only been late once by 15 minutes only because I thought my appointment was at the time I arrived and cancelled a couple times because of true emergencies. I had been a patron for over 5 yrs so being late once and only canceling less than a handful of times doesn't make me an bad and discourteous customer. There were at least a handful of times I arrived on time and had to wait to be helped and I still always returned. I took my business elsewhere while Kaitlin was away but called back when I expected her back from vacation. John answered and told me Kaitlin no longer worked there. I'm sad that I never got to say good-bye to Kaitlin and that the owner was so rude and cold to me on my last at this salon. I wish Kaitlin well and hope that no customer has to go through this in the future. read more

This place is pretty good but pretty pricey. Very busy, you can never get an appointment (most of the time you have to call at least a week- 2 weeks ahead for fake nails). I have seen many people walk in for pedicures but never fills or full sets. I have had good and bad experiences at this place with the pink and white nails. Sometimes they last a week other times they last for longer. Although I have noticed that the pink is pretty cheap it lifts and turns yellow. Also they can chip and crack easily. read more

I was such a loyal customer... but once I went somewhere else (out of town) and John's attitude was never the same. Then I complained after they botched my nails and asked them to fix them, and I got a quick fix that was even worse!! When I figured that maybe it was a bad day, I went back one more time. I asked for polish instead of gel or shellac on my acrylic nails. Apparently they don't know how to do regular nail polish anymore, because it was horrible. I even had people stop and tell me that I should find a new nail place!!! -__- Then, to top it all off, John has started to hit on the girls in his shop. I've heard him discussing his sex life with numerous customers, and out right hitting on teenage girls. When I mentioned this to another previous customer, she said that John once propositioned her friend! WTH! Disgusting. I had heard a lot of great things about this place, so I decided I would try it out for myself. They were extremely rude and were treating me differently then everyone in there just because I was the youngest one there. I was shocked because I am still a paying customer. They wouldn't listen to what I wanted done and weren't accommodating to my requests. Also, the ladies that were painting my nails couldn't stop laughing because of the design I was getting, which wasn't very funny. They were speaking in their language and laughing at me! So incredibly rude. I have never felt so upset at a nail salon. I would definiately not recommend this place. read more

Ive been going to John's for about 4+ years & Wendy has always been my favorite. Last week I had an appointment but I ran out of gas & he had no later times available so I had to cancel & go somewhere else. Today I tried calling twice & it just kept ringing so I decided to go in & he told me he was to busy to fix one nail. He then asked if I had gotten them done & I said yes I had to go somewhere else because he was "too busy" for me. His remark was "you had gas to go to another place" & again, I had to because he was busy. I asked if I could come in tomorrow & he told me he was busy tomorrow & busy for the rest of the week. I can take a hint when someone is basically telling me not to come back. He has done this to my friends & I've always had his back but not anymore! read more

I got a manicure here the other day. At first, I was really pleased at how well my nails turned out. But then after one day, I noticed that the nail polish was cracking really badly. Old nail polish to blame? Who knows. read more

If your nails are important to you, I would NOT go here! You get what you pay for.. They can care less about details and precision, let alone how long they'll last before they fly off. They will half ass your nails to move on to the next customer. They are nice to you up until you tell them how horrible of a job they did... If price is what you're after regardless of how they turn out, this is the place for you. read more

This has been my...fourth time back to Johns and he doesn't disappoint. He does a great job. I love my pink and white and especially because every nail is consistent in shape, length and size. I also gave the pedicure and nail art and try and the person did an excellent job. I just brought in a photo and she was able to recreate it flawlessly. read more

I am a male, I had not had a pedicure for over three years. I was recommended this place from a friend. I booked a pedicure two months ago. I noticed right away the technician did not use a nail cuticle pusher. I didn't say anything because it's been so long I didn't know if there was a new technique. My toenails look decent when I left. However, after one week my toenails started to grow back uneven. The cuticles look unsightly and we're very thick. I know a good pedicure last at least three weeks and always grows back evenly. I think this place is better known for their manicures. Do not go if you want a really good pedicure. read more

I made my appointment several days before for a full set the day I was going to choose my engagement ring. I was told 10:15. When I arrived early I was told 10:30. At 10:30 I was told "my girl was late and sit there for 1/2 hour" No sorry no nothing! Horrible horrible client service. I, too, live in San Bruno and John's Creations is WELL WORTH the drive. After driving home to El Dorado Hills to get my nails done every couple weeks, John proved to me there is a decent salon in the peninsula that does an excellent job for beautiful, long lasting nails. I used to get acrylic white tips, now I always get the pink and white set. John is quick and efficient on nails (and 2 out of the 3 women are very good, too) and a really fun guy to chat with. He's a jokester and sings a lot... And I think his wife just had a baby this weekend. Congrats on Lil John!! See ya next week :-) read more

The best acrylic nail job I've ever gotten. She (I feel awful not remembering her name, it may have been Kim?) spent a ton of time getting everything perfect and they've been looking flawless for over two weeks now. She checked in with me frequently to see if the color and shape were what I wanted, (which my normal place in SF had stopped doing and I'd look up from my magazine to see nails that I did not like.) This place does an amazing job! John is a great guy who does a flawless job on nails. It is so quick too. I have gone there and had 2 different people do my nails, both so fast and such a great job. I never had to say a word on something I needed fixed. I am really picky on how my nails are done and they anticipated my needs and far exceeded them. The fill lasts longer than any other place because they fill all the way to the cuticle every time. They fix the french tips so well and never let any stragglers remain under the nails. I love this place and will be a happy returning customer for as long as I get my nails done! read more

I have been going here for years. I love john, his wife and Wendy! They used to do such an amazing job but their quality of work has really gone down hill. My nails come out crooked a lot and I feel like they are just trying to get me in and out. My biggest complaint and why I gave two stars was because I have not only gotten and infection once, but TWICE. They never open new packs of sterilized tools for pedicures and it's disgusting. I don't know why I didn't put that one together years ago. Nothing against them as people but their business isn't run how it should be, and it's definitely far from being clean. With this last severe toe infection that I had to actually go to the doctors for, I will NOT EVER be returning to johns creations :( !!! read more

He does the best pink and whites I have ever gotten-- they last up to three weeks, when I've heard that most places are about two. He is also hilarious and nice to talk to. Can't really say anything bad about John or his team. I'd recommend always making an appointment a few days ahead of time, because he is pretty popular. :) read more
