Johnny's has been a fantastic addition to Oakdale Square. I've eaten there probably more than I care to admit. The steak and cheese pocket is phenomenal. The pizza never disappoints and there is something about the spicy fries..so good. Johnny's has become a regular in out take out rotation. It's a small spot, so yes it gets busy. The food is pretty good. I wouldn't call it 5 star restaurant good but it is tasty. My take on what we ordered was that there is something for everyone. We ordered the chicken parm pocket, meatball parm pocket, Cesar pocket, chicken Greek pocket and fries. The fries were of the battered type which I normally don't like as much but they were cooked well and tasted pretty good. Now for the pockets. The chicken parm was good and filled me up just right. My son loved the chicken Greek and has ordered it twice. My other son had the meatball and really liked it and was filling as well. On my 2nd visit I had the grilled chicken Cesar wrap. While good, I felt like the pocket wasn't filled w as much chicken and left me hungry. I'll keep trying the different varieties of pockets and would recommend this place to anyone looking for something other than submarine sandwich's or fried foods. They do have a variety of items in the menu. The food has a fresh taste and the pockets are warm and toasty. The place is nice and clean offering a few tables and chairs to dine in. I of course ordered the chicken caesar wrap. It was delicious I had to save half to bring home to my husband. We both agreed to come here since its so close to home! Johnny has opened in the former Oakdale pizza shop in Oakdale square. Sad to see the old shop close but nice to have something new Intown. The space is completly renovated and wide open now, looks great. Service is great, Johnny is very attentive and oversees everything going out. The food is nothing short of great. They seem to pride themselves on the quality of their ingredients. I recommend the steak pocket and grilled chicken greek wrap. He makes his pita bread from scratch and uses it for both his pockets and wraps. Way better than ur normal packaged wraps that have no flavor and are as thin as paper. Great addition to Oakdale square! Love the steak bomb and the chicken bomb. The bacon here is the best, extra crispy (in the Alforno salad and the BLT wrap). The pockets are super soft and reheat well the next day as compared to a typical sub roll. My daughter loves them! read more

Noted Yelpers reviews were high for Johnny's so the three of us decided to give this place a try. We were extremely pleased with our respective choices. We all ordered customised pocket sandwiches, each were exceptional and tasty, including one that was vegetarian. All were fairly large in size, delicious and very filling. Pocket bread was excellent too, thicker but not like bread and definitely not flimsy. I found a new spot. I ordered the steak tip bomb and the steak was juicy and not tough to chew like most places. I was very surprised at how tender it was; very good. It's hard to pick a favorite dish -- the chicken caesar pocket is a definite favorite, as is the Stuffed Pizza (not stuffed crust, but like a combination between a pizza and a calzone, it's incredible), the falafel, even the desserts and lunch pastries like spanikopita are a 10 out of 10. Can't say anything negative about them. 5 of us ate there and had burgers, chicken parm and pizza and everything was on point. I like that they have 16" pizzas for large like it should be. It's mostly a take out place but they do have about half a dozen tables that weren't being used at all.
