Ordered for the first time last night and I'm feeling optimistic that we may have found our new pizza place! Customer service was great - I ordered online and some of the options are confusing. The owner themselves called me to clarify my order, which was kind. Got delivered faster than expected on a Friday night and was left where I asked (though I did request not to ring the doorbell and the driver did, but it's not a big deal). Food was mostly great! Garlic knots were underwhelming. Not garlicky and a little dry. The tomato sauce is actually flavorful, which I find most local places to not be the case. The Greek salad was pretty great. Needed more olives but otherwise, it was fresh and huge. The side of pita was generous and pillowy soft. Got the 4 cheese calzone and added veggies. Wow! Very flavorful, almost too seasoned. I have been in the food industry for years and made pizza myself and their NY style is perfect, they even put a liner in the box that keeps the bottom of the pizza away from the cardboard box and keeps it from getting soggy and keeps the pizza crisp. Located in the former Oakdale Pizza & Coffee Shop in Dedham's Oakdale Square, Johnny's Pockets offers a variety of made to order and signature hot & cold pita pockets, pizzas, calzones, fried foods and cold drinks in the cooler. The steak bomb pocket is very popular here. I decided to stop in for lunch very recently. I ordered a Chicken Bomb Pocket ($12.95 (cash)/$13.47 (charge cards & online) plus tax),  which was ready and hot in about 8 minutes after ordering. I enjoyed my pocket out in the vehicle. The pocket was very hot and filled with marinated boneless chicken pieces, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, onions, and melted American cheese. This chicken bomb pocket sort of tasted like and reminded me of the spiedies (sub rolls instead of pita pockets) I've enjoyed in the Binghamton,  NY area.  Though slightly priced higher than a typical large sub at other places, the Chicken Bomb Pocket I had was very tasty and hot. The food is pretty good. I wouldn't call it 5 star restaurant good but it is tasty. My take on what we ordered was that there is something for everyone. We ordered the chicken parm pocket, meatball parm pocket, Cesar pocket, chicken Greek pocket and fries. The fries were of the battered type which I normally don't like as much but they were cooked well and tasted pretty good. Now for the pockets. The chicken parm was good and filled me up just right. My son loved the chicken Greek and has ordered it twice. My other son had the meatball and really liked it and was filling as well. On my 2nd visit I had the grilled chicken Cesar wrap. While good, I felt like the pocket wasn't filled w as much chicken and left me hungry. I'll keep trying the different varieties of pockets and would recommend this place to anyone looking for something other than submarine sandwich's or fried foods. We wanted to like this place after seeing the strong Yelp and Slice reviews. The unique menu seemed very interesting. We placed an order for scheduled 6pm delivery for my 8 year old's "movie date" with his friend. All seemed good as our address was confirmed deliverable and we were given an estimated delivery time of 6:02pm. Then, the stress starts to build as the delivery time kept getting pushed back. About the time we are scrambling to find something else in the freezer, we get a text that "our request to cancel" was confirmed, and then an email about a cancellation. We did not request a cancellation and there was no courtesy phone call to let us know anything about our order. So I write this as we wait for the oven to pre-heat for the frozen pizza )-: Things happen and restaurants run behind, but abrupt and false cancellations are a pretty big problem. read more

My daughter got a buffalo chicken pocket, my other daughter got a small cheese pizza, we got an order of bacon cheese fries to split, and I got a chicken caesar pocket with no croutons. So you can imagine my disappointment when I saw croutons in my pocket. When I called to kindly bring it to the staff's attention, the response I received was, "Can't you just pick them out?"--which felt dismissive and unprofessional. As a paying customer, I believe it's fair to expect care and understanding, especially when addressing an error. I wanted to make you aware of the interaction because I value good service just as much as good food, and I hope this doesn't happen to others in the future.
