According to my kids, Johnny's makes the best hot cocoa "on this planet earth." Ask for the s'mores special. It is "not comparable" to regular hot chocolate.

This is where Ludlow with good food and vibes live. After ski coffee and cocktails. - espressos drinks ready. If for a quick grab or staying for the vibes. The following: I would order the steak dip / or the Ruben but also sells out fast. 2nd favorite sandwich is the Lynn Reilly 3rd. Anything pressed on a sandwich

Visited with the whole extended family. The hosts were more than accommodating. Great sandwiches, said everyone in the crowd. Nice setting, newly renovated, I heard. In a ski town, the prices were more than reasonable. What was most impressive: the service was especially attentive. Kind, friendly woman behind the coffee bar. Another gentleman, who saw we had three active toddlers with us, graciously made mini-hot chocolates without our knowing, and then presented them to us gratis. The whole experience won everyone over. Hard to believe such a welcoming place exists in a busy ski town.

Hands-down the best espresso coffee and fresh, made-to-order sandwiches in Ludlow! One of my regular go-to lunch spots.

Maybe I'm easy to please but this place does what you want it to do. It gives you great sandwiches quickly with friendly service. I stopped by on a recent weekday and enjoyed a terrific chicken cutlet sandwich that was packed full of toppings too. A good kind of messy sandwich. The next day I opted for a pizza panini that did as it advertised -- pepperoni, sauce and cheese. Yummy!! There's nothing "gourmet" about it but it's still the perfect place to stop by in town. Delish!

I was in town for a quick business trip and Johnnys was recommended to me. Glad I went. Johnny was strumming one of his guitars when I walked in & that started a friendly casual conversation. I had the VT Panini, and it was amazing! I'll definitely stop again when I'm in town!

The steak dip sandwich was sooo yummy. The dip was salty, hot and slightly melted the crispy steak sandwich.

There was a parking lot but we had already parked on-street prior. The interior was cute; there was a cafe and a few tables. On the other side was the kitchen area; they brought out the food to us on the cafe side. The place got busy after we got there; seems to be a hot spot for lunch. We got there around 10:50, they weren't serving food until 11. This was fine since they served coffee and that was priority to us at that time. I had a medium iced maple latte and it was good. For my meal, I had the chicken and waffles sandwich which were decent; there was crispy fried chicken, cole slaw, in between freshly made fluffy waffles. It was overall decent, but something was missing; I think that was some maple syrup or some hot sauce. My child had the fried Mac and cheese donut; it's a Mac and cheese shaped into a donut; this was good and a cute way to present food. Overall, a good spot to get some breakfast and lunch.

We learned that Blue Duck was previously a lunch stop, but is now a very classy dinner restaurant - 5 course tasting menu on Fridays and Saturdays with a fixed price. Each entree was beautiful, unique, very tasty. Ours briefly was 1) sweet corn, ricotta & pesto soup 2) seared Ahi with fried potato and lemon aioli 3) waygu with radish cream, microgreens 4) red gem salad with roasted beets and goat cheese, blueberry vinaigrette 5) Pavlova with berries and oat clusters Wow. The service was attentive and kind. The space was so thoughtfully decorated - everything from the lighting (gentle), to beautiful chairs/tables/dinnerware/flatware/decor- all adds to the beauty, presentation, and ambiance. We traveled here for the skiing, but found this gem of an experience.

We came literally a few minutes before closing time, and they were kind enough to accommodate our group. There was a few ppl seated enjoying coffee and convos, but no one line, so ordering was quick. Parking- easy, a lot out front of the entrance. Service- was easy, the kind gentleman. I didn't get to ask if he was the owner or much about the business but I wish I had. Food- I split a brekky sandwhich with my friend and it was good. And we shared some of the apple cider donuts. I tried to be good girl and only take a few bites. But I really wanted a whole donut to myself. They are in fact very yummy. I see why this is popular item in this part of the country.

I am not a big donut person, so I didn't try them, but my friends seemed to love them, because the half dozen we got were all gone between the 4 of them!! Great owner, super nice, and so kind! We looked around at the fresh and frozen pies and they looked appealing. As others have mentioned, there are no prices so that was a little disconcerting. A gentleman came and helped us and as noted in prior reviews, he was somewhat gruff but I didn't take it as grumpy or mean. My take, unsubstantiated by any scientific evidence, is that not every store owner is pre-disposed to having a neurotypical customer-centric focus. That being said, we were offered coffee with our pie slices and a place to sit. There is currently a lot of construction going on at the place because the business was hit hard after COVID and then flooding in Vermont in 2023 caused significant damage. My blueberry coffee cake was good. I will say it wasn't worth $8 per slice. As noted, the prices are sky high here. For two slices, two coffees, a small bag of cookies and a peanut butter bar it was $36....$39 if I wanted to pay by card so I opted for cash and saved the $3. Probably if prices were posted, customers would immediately turn around and walk out. When I saw the price of the pie slice, I immediately thought "This is as expensive as Manhattan". I don't mind as much when I shell out big bucks for food there because it's expected but it was a bit of a shock to see those prices in Vermont. To wrap it up, I agree with others that this place is overpriced and service is brusque at best. However, if prices had been posted, I would have given this 3 stars easily because I appreciate a direct and no-nonsense approach to running a business.

The total price was $52. There was a surcharge for using a credit card. The 2 rolls were $18!! We don't mind paying for something that is exceptional however that was not the case. The owner even seemed annoyed by our visit. When we got home we thawed out the rolls. They were only cooked on the outer edge and the inside was raw. Raw! It literally turned to mush. We had to toss it because it was already coated with icing ands couldn't be rebaked. For the second roll we decided to bake it since the first one was raw and the dough was even stretchy. That did absolutely nothing. Guessing since it was half baked it couldn't be rebaked. It could make someone ill with the rawness. I messaged the owner on FB and no reply. We will not be going there again. We visit Las Olas in the winter and frequent upscale bakeries paying $60 for a cake. A cake that is freshly baked and exceptional. The lemon pound cake we bought was actually freezer burnt. Again if the item was fresh baked it's worth the cost. We always support local and small businesses. We understand how ingredients cost a lot, especially these days, but these products are frozen and there is no date on each package to indicate the date it was made. I wish I realized that before I got home. If I lived closer I wouldn't returned the products. A complete disappointment and waste of money.

And, if you're in Vermont skiing, you must drop by Main Mountain Bar & Motel. We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles! They are life-changing! Bottom line = check out this bar if you are in Ludlow, Vermont for skiing at Okemo or just visiting for some other reason. You are sure to love it like we did.
