Was visiting ludlow and went to this shop , on the way .. the store had lots of stuff but mostly all were soooooo expensive ! Hoodies for 50$ , shirts for 75$ and so many other things which were expensive. . There was a lot of food items which they sold . Not sure if thiss store is more like a deli for food but we thought it was more of used for general stuff . Parking was good . Lots of parking outside . Service was average . Singleton's is an awesome general store. A must visit if you are in the Okemo mountain area. Their deli counter is robust and sandwiches are amazing. They offer daily lunch specials, many of which feature their fantastic smoked meats. Their smoked sausages and bacon are delicious too. As you would expect of a general store, they offer a little bit of everything. Clothing, food, liquor, etc. Their efforts to support other local small businesses shows their dedication to the community. The staff are really friendly as well. I loved everything about Singleton's....came back three days in a row just to order their lunch special and pick up some odds and ends. Even ran my dogs around in their snowy picnic area outside. I was blown away finding this store! I'm on a long distance motorcycle ride (from Oklahoma) and this place really helped my spirits. The Meat/Deli shoppe is so old skool. Thick steaks, and grab a sammich while you're there. I don't have anything like this within a days ride! Such a trip back in time. Definitely visit if you are in Vermont! Singleton's is hands down my favorite store and a one-stop-shop for all of your needs. We went to VT for the weekend and were able to pick up all of our groceries! It was so convenient not to travel with a cooler. My children loved shopping through all of the toys and picking out souvenirs for their teachers! Definitely try their bacon and sandwiches! This little gem near Okemo is a must if you're in the area. People come from all over to stock up on their smoked pork products. Many friends say it's the best bacon ever. Stop by here on your way to Okemo! Get one of their elite deli sandwiches for your lunch on the slopes. They have the freshest ingredients and load you up with thick slices of meat. They have everything a general store would have in a small New England town. Their meat selection is something to be admired. The smoked pepperoni...wow! Not only good on its own, but amazing on homemade pizza. This is a wonderful store! They have a good selection of regular grocery items. But their meats, smoked meats and dry aged meats are really good! We picked up some Maple Sriracha Cheddar Burgers and they were unreal. And as mentioned above, the smoked pepperoni is worth a try. They have a great selection of sandwiches too. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area! And they also ship some items if you can't visit the store. read more

Be warned, the deli has tasty sandwiches, but service was slow, especially for hot sandwiches. I ordered a Reuben and they served up seven other sandwiches before I got mine. Proctorsville is a cute, little, and relatively empty town; so we were surprised to see so many cars parked outside Singleton's. We knew we had to make a stop! This store is a one-stop shop for so many things: your groceries, your clothes, your guns and ammo, your liquor, your hunting gear... I'd really be surprised if there was something that wasn't in this store. The prices were pretty competitive, too! We found a somewhat uncommon rye whiskey for an unbeatable price. The decor includes lots of old guns along the top of the wall, which was a little surprising at first, but it adds to the historic charm. read more

Oh yeah. This place is special. Just be careful if you put Singleton's into your GPS. There are two of them. Being a tourist, and unfamiliar with the geography of the area, I accidentally found myself at this location instead of the Hartford spot. No big deal. It's vacation. So it was just a chance to do a little more exploring. I was told to get a sandwich. The problem was that I wasn't told which sandwich to get. And they have 24 signature sandwiches, so it took me a while to get through the menu and decide. Some people love Boar's Head meats. I'm not one of them. Actually, I have lots of feels when it comes to sandwiches. Wraps rub me the wrong way. Most sandwich shop tomatoes are terrible. In the end, I went with the #3 Singleton's Smokehouse. Because while all of the sandwiches were their "signature sandwiches" this is the one that bears the name. Plus it's filled with three smoked meats, cheddar, and maple mustard. Oh yeah, and no tomato. It was wonderful. It came wrapped in wax paper, and I was able to eat it in the shade at one of the picnic tables outside. Really, I wolfed it down. I was supposed to be in Woodstock, so I had to head off. But not without picking up a couple incredible four packs of Vermont craft beer, and a bag of ice for the cooler. Seriously, the beer in this state is amazing. And I couldn't resist a small pack of their beef jerky. You never know when you might need a power snack. It was tasty, if on the tougher side. How good? I am currently completing an online order to have smoked pepperoni shipped to me so I can smoke some pizzas on my pellet grill in San Antonio, Texas. To be clear, I am having a topping on pizza shipped just a smidge over 2000 miles because that's the impression smoked pepperoni from Singleton's left on me. What else can you find here? Plenty of in-house meats and associated products, fine cheeses from all over Vermont and surrounding areas, and local liquor from places like Smuggler's Notch distillery (though sadly a particular flavor I was searching for was not available on my last couple of trips here). They sell guns, ammo, and hunting licenses. They also have a decent selection of wine, liquor, craft beer, and domestics. The butcher counter features a full selection of meats. Meats are fresh, frozen, and marinated but all are prepared onsite. They smoke their own cheeses and jerky onsite every few days. I used to live about 50 yards from the smoker and this was always a thrill for me. Their bacon is simply amazing and definitely worth the price. The concierge at our hotel suggested we stop at Singleton's. We are SO glad she told us as had we just driven by we probably wouldn't have stopped on our own. At first we thought the "Whiskey, Guns & Ammo" sign out front was a joke, but when we walked in, we realized it was TRUE! Where else can you buy a steak, a box of ammo and a bottle of whiskey at the same time? Certainly nowhere we've ever been! The place smells incredible as they smoke their own cheese and meats. I've dealt with Singleton's in two capacities. Grocer and wholesaler. Both sides of the business get 5 solid gold stars. First, as a grocer. This place has it all. We always stop in for smoked bacon (smoked on the premises), a few pints of Ben and Jerry's, a bottle of wine or Champagne, some Cabot cheddar and cold cuts and of course, Singleton's famous beef jerky and root beer. Singleton's stocks a wide variety of food and LOTS of alcohol, so not only is it a one-stop kind of place, but it's a fun place to shop. We definitely never shop at the Shaw's in Ludlow anymore. I like that they have a lot of local and house-made items in the store. I always find a new product or food I have to try. The second part of this review has to do with using Singleton's as a wholesaler for my wedding. My husband and I wanted to use Singleton's beef jerky and homemade sodas as wedding favors. We called in advance and spoke with the owner, who was awesome. He helped us set up an order for jerky and assorted sodas, made sure everything was set for us the day of our wedding and was great to work with. We got an excellent price on the items and our guests were thrilled, because Singleton's stuff is quality. read more

I've been going to this store for years. It just keeps getting better and better. From fine wine (Firestone, Chateau Mouton Rothschild) to elk burgers, it can be found at Singleton's. Their butcher shop is first-rate. They have groceries, liquor and all manner of dry goods. They sell firearms and ammunition. They do private sale gun transfers. On my last buying spree, we bought some of their famous beef jerky, Quiche Lorraine, smoked bacon, eggs, VT cheddar cheese, buffalo steaks, Talisker single malt scotch, merlot and 12 gauge shotgun shells (My friend has a Vermont license). How diverse was that shopping basket? The staff is friendly. The meats are sourced locally and smoking is done on the premises.
