Highway 66!

When traveling to a new town, I like finding local places to stop. Johnny J's fits the bill. Good food, friendly service, huge variety on the menu. Cinnamon rolls are amazing! Finally, if you like 50s and 60s decor, this is the place!

The service is so great, all the staff are very friendly and quick. The ambiance of the restaurant is awesome, feels like you're going back in time and it has the classic diner feel. I still have only had breakfast here but it has always been very tasty. The only complaint is that one of my over easy eggs was a little underdone in the egg white, and I prefer omelets to have cheese inside not on top.

Ham and cheese sandwich with wet fries and Nathan's cheese dog with cloeslaw

A little bit of a wait but soo worth it!!!! Ham and cheese sandwich was awesome as were the wet fries!husband loved his Nathan cheese dog and coleslaw Food came fairly quickly even though the restaurant was packed!it was almost 2 p.m. and still busy busy!I can not say enough how awesome our waitress was! Food is FABULOUS!

Absolutely amazing Cobb salad, super fresh and moist chicken, crispy bacon and awesome blue cheese, well done Johnny J!!

5 of us came here for lunch and it was disappointing. We have been here maybe 4-5 times before and always has a good experience but not today, i had a cheese burger deluxe, the patty was dry, the tomatoes looked soft and like thawed from yesterday, my wife had a Cobb salad and the lettuce was wrinkly and also not fresh, my son had a cheese quesadilla that had to get redone as for some reason they had put onions in there, my buddy had a reuben sandwich which was literally 2 slices of toast with a skinny slice of meat. And to top that off the waitress was all over the place, kept forgetting stuff, we had to get up to get condiments, no refills on water etc etc etc. This is not what this place used to be.

We decided to try this place on our road trip. The atmosphere was friendly, service a little slow but they were busy. The food was exceptional. Portions a little bit so most went into the trash. I had hog heaven omelette with homestyle potatoes and a pancake. The best part was the omelette was absolutely delicious, potatoes were too crunchy for my taste and the pancake I could've left out, but that's to my personal taste. All in all still worth going and check out. Not too many diners like this left in the US.

Awesome 50's themed diner! Some of the best and most friendly service I've ever had. My egg-salad sandwich was great and my wife enjoyed her fried chicken sandwich. The only downside is the lack of vegetarian options. The only non-appetizer food items that came without meat were the egg-salad sandwich and the grilled cheese sandwich; even all of the salads included meat. Despite that, we'll still be back if we're ever in the area.

Great place to go for a burger and old fashioned shake. Breakfast is kindof gut bomby but still good. Great pancakes.

It's pretty dirty most of the time. Either you are sticking to the floor or slipping on the floor. Management needs coaching.

Well, the service is slow. Time between ordering and receiving order is a pretty long wait. But,…read morethe servers do seem nice! So, depending on time of day, be prepared. It is not just a grab and go situation! Also, they could be clearer on prices for things displayed for sale on the shelves. Trying to flag down a server or ask them prices is a hassle for both the customer and the server. Just put a price tag on the corresponding shelf, at least! Their prices for the drinks are about the same as other chain coffee/tea places, maybe a tad bit more expensive (price vs. volume/size options). I am not sure about the food items as I did not have any. It is a wonderful little shop. Good for older couples, or people just wanting to spend time with each other without too many distractions. People who have time to kill and those who just want to chat, face to face. The drinks were pretty good. I had a blended iced caramel macchiato with whip cream. It was really nice. My daughter had a Blue Lotus energy drink with Blue Raspberry flavoring and she really enjoyed it (the menu above the counter doesn't tell you which items use the flavors list, so be sure to just check the flavors list, in case what you decide to get might sound like something you need flavorings for!) Fairly centrally located downtown so a lot of stores are just a jaunt away.

But clearly, without being anchored in the Hilton, this place would probably be out of business. I really liked the waitress/bartender, but it was clear how exacerbated she was with conditions. I looked at the menu first online and when I arrived, she apologized and said those were out of date. Fine. One diner and one at the bar, I sat at a table. The chair I sat in was really wobbly, so I switched to another as I didn't feel safe given my 6'3" frame. Not much better. So I moved over to the table with a bench. The bench didn't have any functional cushioning, but at least it was stable. When she delivered my beverage, I explained why I moved and she apologized as she knew and that they have been waiting for "their remodel." Later, I heard the waitress apologize to a couple because they didn't have any salt, but they did have pepper! They were taking the food back to their room, so she offered some ideas of where they could find salt. The chicken Cobb salad on Google had a real fried chicken breast, but what they are actually serving is a sliced giant chicken nugget product. They rest was great (salad not wilted or slimy, good toppings) and I liked the blue cheese dressing. So, 3 stars on the overall experience.

Must have been a rookie as she was not sure what she needed to ask what I wanted with my breakfast. After what seemed liked a longer than normal wait (we drank the thermos of coffee) our breakfast arrived. Bathroom could use some better upkeep, the largest stall door didn't close all the way and there was toilet paper on the floor. Eggs Benedict was good, flavorful hollandaise sauce and thick cut ham. The fruit wasn't great, just cantaloupe and grapes. Chicken fried steak was good but side of pancakes was nothing special. Would have appreciated some other hot sauce options, only Tabasco was offered. Once we got home both of us had a stomach ache, we most likely won't be coming back as it was overall underwhelming.

My husband and I took a gander at the menu before getting there, but we wanted to double check to make sure we knew what we wanted. There are SO MANY choices! All sound amazing! The Parmesan garlic crust on the sourdough bread with the melted spinach dip, bacon, and chicken was the perfect balance of flavors. My husband LOVED his pants on fire burger. He said it was the perfect combination of buffalo ranch and melted bleu cheese crumbles with his burger patty. It was the first time he actually used a knife and fork to eat his burger.
