This is the most horrible thing I have ever eaten. I paid 70 something dollars for this on Doordash, but for the taste and the quality of this food I wouldn't have paid 10 dollars for it. I give the star a zero rating if I can get of it a negative zero I would. The owner/ The owner his name is Nate is very unprofessional to his staff and seems very overwhelmed and in over his head. He talks to his staff like they are trash in front of customers I have heard him curse out a young hostess to the point that she cried. He never apologized to her or to the customers in the restaurant that had to hear it. This is specifically about the management everyone else that was there was very helpful and the food was decent but not great. I will never go back and I feel sorry for the staff that has to work for him. Something should be done about his professionalism and the way he treats his staff. I asked for the owners name and number and he said he was the owner which is not true. But he would not give me the name and number of the actual owner to file a complaint. This review is specifically about our interaction with manager Nate Dunkin, not the restaurant as a whole, as we have dined here many times without issue. I was not present during this visit. My daughter called me after the interaction but while she was still in the restaurant waiting for her bill, upset and confused by how the situation was handled, which is why I am writing this review. While eating crawfish, my daughter discovered a large bug in her food. She immediately notified the waitress and took a photo. The waitress brought the plate to the manager, who took it to the back and did not return for about 20 minutes. When he returned, he said, "So you found a bug in your crawfish," followed by "great," and then began explaining their cleaning process, including that they sometimes find small turtles during cleaning. When my daughter calmly asked what that had to do with the bug in her food, his tone became condescending. He then said, "What do you want me to do, comp you and your friends' meals? I can't do that. Your bill is $50 and you ate half, so I'll take half off." My daughter explained that it was not her fault she ate part of the meal before discovering the bug and that customers should not be expected to inspect their food for insects before eating. The manager was dismissive, rude, and walked away without resolving the issue professionally. Finding a foreign insect in food is a food safety concern and should be handled with care, accountability, and respect especially when addressing young customers. What made this situation even more uncomfortable is that after I later left a factual review on Facebook, it was deleted within minutes. The manager, Nate Dunkin, then returned to my daughter's table and said, "I saw your review. I liked it," which confused her, as she was unaware a review had been posted. This review is not about a mistake things happen. It is about how a situation was handled and how a young customer was spoken to. The lack of professionalism and accountability has made us seriously reconsider returning. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant at all. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that management is either overwhelmed or simply doesn't care. Half the restaurant was closed off, leaving only three waitresses scrambling to serve the entire place. Tables sat dirty and uncleared for far too long, making the whole dining experience feel chaotic. The food was just as disappointing. Our children's corn dogs were still frozen in the middle--completely unacceptable. The kitchen repeatedly forgot multiple items from our order, and when we finally got our food, it was lukewarm at best. Cleanliness was another major issue. The inside of the restaurant wasn't well-maintained, and the outdoor area had a weird sewage smell that made waiting outside unpleasant. To make matters worse, flies were everywhere inside, making it feel unhygienic. If you're dining with a larger group, be warned--they won't allow more than eight people at a table, which is frustrating if you're with family or friends. Given that our summer visit was just as bad, (had lots of flies inside) it's clear this isn't a one-time issue. Save yourself the headache and eat somewhere else. read more

No one has came to greet us or anything. So the food better be good if the service is already bad. So we get our appetizers and tell me why they don't bring no plates to eat off or no utensils. I don't often sit and eat here, and just order food to be picked up. So I can't speak to the service or ambiance really. But I can say the food is very good and authentic. I love the crawfish étouffée, gumbo, and red beans and rice. They really could give more rice with the gumbo and étouffée. read more

Then today on Sunday 3/30 @630 pm only half the resturant is staffed. 30 min wait with half the resturant not being seated in. The Crawfish Pistolettes (I usually love) tasted old, doughy & fishy, I was able to eat the fish tacos, but 1 of them had 2 tiny pieces of fish not much bigger than a quarter! I have been inside before & usually like it pretty well (I give it 7 out of 10), so I can only guess the workers were ready to close within the hour and my order bothered them! Poor business management. Few things. First getting sat at a table literally took 15 minutes. The hostess wasn't trained, didn't know what she was doing. It took her about 7 minutes to decide which table to sit a party of 2, and the about another 8 minutes to sit us a party of 5. Then sitting there while eating, we saw a roach crawling all over the wall and beer bottles. Took 3-4 minutes for a cook to come out and kill it. Their menu advertises one price but they charge more. I was told "price went up. It's all crawfish places." As if that's an acceptable excuse. Guaranteed that crawfish shack doesn't have the terrible business mgmt practices that John E's has. They wouldn't honor the $10 advertised price. My suggestion is to label food as market price versus a set price if you aren't going to honor it. Deceptive business practices is what that is, especially since the waitress never mentioned the 70% higher price when ordering. I hadn't been here in 3 years because it was always terrible when I went there before. After seeing their "manager" begging to give it a second chance on Facebook, I talked myself in to it. This is my first time eating here. When being seated at the booth keep in mind that they don't allow a high chair I think it's because it'll block a walk way? Idk but they'll offer a booster seat. I wish I took a picture of my plate but I didn't. Food was okay. My shrimp was kinda over cooked? Tasted kinda dry and rubbery. They don't give you much butter. just in a small plastic container of foamy bubble butter. Wasn't liquid melted butter? But it's okay. Don't pour all the dry spice in that's my fault lol I should've poured little by little to my liking. Moving on to the potatoes. Wished they cleaned it better because it still had those roots growing? And the corn tasted kinda old like you can literally make popcorn with it because it was that dry. We ate there on 5/15 around 5:30. We had a large party with adults, kids and babies. The girls working there were very speedy on cleaning and setting up a nice table for us. We all enjoyed our food, entrees of snapper, ahi tuna and grilled catfish. The kids enjoyed the French fries with their kids meals. It was a very clean, pleasant atmosphere, and the food was awesome. Not the cajun crawfish I'm accustomed to. Spice means flavor, not burn your lips with sprinkle season on the outer shell... Louisiana back wood boil hands down is the best, but texas style with a Louisiana twist is doable what gets the the most is the size of the crawfish for an early season they were mini lobsters even some of the claws were the equivalent to a small crawfish tail so that makes up for the lack of flavor... my only complaint is the bar they only serve beer and wine read more

Let me start by saying that I REALLY... REALLY... REALLY want to like this place, but it's just not that good. It is a nice restaurant for Crosby. Actually probably one of the nicest in Crosby so it'd be perfect for a close night out. The atmosphere is great, the service is great, but the food lacks. I've been 2 times and both times I walked away unsatisfied. At this point I don't believe I'll return. My first visit I had fried shrimp. It lacked flavor and wasn't a big fan of the breading. The fries were the best thing on the plate. The second visit was for crawfish. What I LOVED about the crawfish was the platter that they serve them in. I wish every crawfish place had a platter like that. But my love stopped there. The crawfish... even though understandably small because it's just the beginning of crawfish season... lacked flavor even though I ordered spicy. They do provide you with butter and extra spice, but it really wasn't much help. As a side note... the appetizers (fried pickles) were good and the bread pudding is wonderful. I really like this place & go everytime I'm staying w/my daughter. We went & took my husband for his 1st time on 6/19. Everything was great although the dark haired bartender c/have been more personal. She was very attentive on making sure we we had what we needed but sat with her friends & chatted instead of chatting up the bar people, which makes good bartender & keeps customers coming back. My issue was the next day I looked at my receipt & saw I spent $34 for 2 small crab clusters, I was like WTH they were $10 on the menu! We went back on fathers day around 5 & got the manager where she explained they were $17 each & they hadn't changed the menus. I was levied because she wouldn't do anything about it. Its misrepensation & plane out not not good for customer service. I was a manager 4 years ago at a restaurant so I know how it's done. I still feel like I was brushed off as not being important & wondered how many others were screwed. You can white out your menu & out correct amount not telling you customers the correct price is a management mistake, hence the restaurants & it s/have been made right.
