The principal is not an honest women. She has no intention of helping children. All she cares about are test scores.

The staff play the favorite game and all the teachers have their own way of doing things. You need to donate and volunteer just for the staff to be NICE! I have no problem donating but it's a manipulative way how they run Vanderburg. Also, if you have a problem the school asks you to take it to the teacher when you do you can expect to experience what I experienced from the teacher turning into a BULLY! The teacher became defensive and started treating my child negatively!! Plus, turning on me! And when I sent an email to the principal w/concerns the principal printed it out, showed the teacher and they turned against me and made me feel like I was the problem not them! They are BULLIES!! They do not like parents speaking up or addressing their concerns or trying to advocate for your child. At the end of they year, you fill out a request for a teacher and the school NEVER honors your request! I know they sit around and discuss who goes where because I had another teacher inform me of this process. I highly suggest to do your homework w/schooling for your children because Vanderburg is definitely not the best or even decent!! ~GOOD LUCK

We moved to Nevada and determined our house based off of the schools our children would attend. We…read morepicked Green Valley because of this school. My daughter was very smart prior to moving here and this school didn't slow her down. She has continued to excel in reading, math, science and Physical education. She has taken after school activities such as piano, yoga and even fun activity clubs and loved every one of them. I was able to see my child from a public trail and was quickly spotted by the PE coach as she confronted me and confirmed with my daughter that she knew me. I was really happy that the teachers have that level of care for the kids to ensure I wasn't a creep. The PTO does amazing things with a lot of dedicated parents participating. My experience with the teachers thus far has been amazing. You get a chance to meet more of them at community events and fundraiser dinners the PTO creates. The traffic came back up for drop off. The principal and other teachers out in the parking lot trying to keep parents moving any methodical pace. There is a flow to the process to ensure all kids get dropped off quickly and in a safe manner. The crossing guards are always there and always have a children's safety as the number one priority from what I've seen. I'm also amazed how the people letting the children into the school in the morning seem to know nearly every single one of them. My child's experience has been great. We dedicate a lot of time at home with our children to help them learn that at school. It seems the teachers do the same which makes the school work very well for us and our level of involvement with the children. The ram run is an opportunity for the kids to run laps in the morning before school starts and a great opportunity to motivate them to stay more active. My daughter really liked this and over the course of the ram run duration from October to May, she ran over 60 mi with a couple laps each day. This is not required and starts about 15 minutes before the bell rings. SafeKey is offered before and after school. I have only used a before school option. I know this is a CCSD provided function and not a school function but I asked the SafeKey teachers how they manage a number of teachers versus students and they told me they provide the appropriate number of teachers for whatever children are signed up for the SafeKey that day. One afternoon, I watched children throwing rocks into the backyards of houses so long the trail. I didn't expect there to be enough SafeKey teachers to be able to watch every kid at all times since they are all playing in the large playground. I told the kids to stop and they did. I then went over to the school to talk to the SafeKey teachers and they address it immediately. I never saw any children throw rocks again. Overall I think the teachers of the school are very attentive from my experience. I think the pickup and drop off goes as efficiently as it can go since the school doesn't actually have a large parking lot for everybody to park. It seems like the PTO and staff are dedicated to provide the best environment they can provide. I am very happy that I chose to live in an area that is zoned for this highly rated school.

You want to get there early for a good parking spot, but there 2 neighborhoods from each side also have a walkway that's very accessible to park there and walk. I recommend parents to get involved in their kids' school if they want to bring change to it. My kids are happy there and any issues that have come up have been resolved by teachers and other staff. I hope to see more before and after school programs.. Any place will have room for improvement , but overall happy here. Nice parents and kids

These missing resources limit students' learning in important subjects. There are also concerns about staffing quality, as many teachers do not appear to have relevant degrees, which raises questions about academic support and instruction quality. In addition, there are ongoing concerns about leadership and school administration. Many parents feel the school would benefit from stronger, more transparent, and more effective leadership to better support students, staff, and academic programs. The GATE program has also raised concerns about fairness and transparency in student selection, with questions about how consistently the process is communicated and applied. All PTO moms kids are in Gate program....() why ??? It's for gifted kids Not PTO moms kids that bad behavior and low grades... There are also concerns about resource allocation, including spending on a garden in Las Vegas, which some families feel is not a priority compared to essential academic needs like Science and Arts programs. The Harvest Festival has also raised questions among parents about transparency in how winners are selected, and clearer guidelines would help ensure fairness and trust. the school would benefit from NEW stronger leadership, improved academic resources, better-qualified staffing, and more transparent systems to ensure fairness and better outcomes for all students.

He was pushed into the stall and placed in a headlock in the bathroom by another child, he was kicked in his "private" parts during early childcare, he was punched in his "privates" during lunch, he had a basketball thrown at his head at recess, and had his chair pulled out from under him when standing to ask a question in his class. He's not perfect! They never notified us of any of the above incidents. Does he have aggression issues. Yes. At time. Because of the environment they allow on this campus. They can call him a liar, or note he has aggression issues, but if your child is younger and struggles with emotional control this is not the place to be. I should have noticed it earlier. Between the teacher turn over rate-suspicious-, the lack of discipline, lack of timely notification when your child does something wrong, and lack of notifying parents of trauma to the head and "private parts," I would not recommend. They have no real counselors. If you're not from money, all other parents and students treat you like dirt. My son was called trash and poor. Kind of hard for a second grader to process. Keep your kids away. It's just a bunch of drama.

From our very first tour with Ms. Brenda, we knew this school checked all the boxes we were looking for. She was reading words at just 3 years old, and the nurturing, structured environment helped her grow in so many ways. Any concerns we had during preschool were addressed promptly, and we always felt confident she was in great hands. However, our experience changed significantly once she transitioned into kindergarten. While the curriculum remains strong and academically focused, the environment felt much more rigid and less joyful. It is very one size fits all. We absolutely value education, but we also want our child to enjoy being a kid--through fun, creativity, and play. Another challenge has been the limited communication. Most interaction is restricted to quick exchanges at drop-off or pick-up, and calls are typically returned when the staff is available. There's little feedback unless you personally call and ask, so it's hard to know how your child is progressing until report cards are sent out. At times, important day-to-day situations involving our daughter weren't communicated to us. Lastly, we didn't always feel the school environment, particularly the front office, was the most welcoming. On a few occasions, I had to initiate conversations after being overlooked which left us feeling more like a number than part of a school community. Overall, the preschool experience was outstanding and gave our daughter a strong academic and social foundation. We're incredibly thankful for that time. Unfortunately, the transition into kindergarten didn't live up to the same standard. I hope this feedback helps other families make a choice that aligns with what they're looking for.
