We had a truly wonderful experience with the preschool program at Challenger. Our daughter attended both the 3s and 4s classes, as well as the summer camp, and we couldn't have asked for a better foundation for her early learning. From our very first tour with Ms. Brenda, we knew this school checked all the boxes we were looking for. She was reading words at just 3 years old, and the nurturing, structured environment helped her grow in so many ways. Any concerns we had during preschool were addressed promptly, and we always felt confident she was in great hands. However, our experience changed significantly once she transitioned into kindergarten. While the curriculum remains strong and academically focused, the environment felt much more rigid and less joyful. It is very one size fits all. We absolutely value education, but we also want our child to enjoy being a kid--through fun, creativity, and play. Another challenge has been the limited communication. Most interaction is restricted to quick exchanges at drop-off or pick-up, and calls are typically returned when the staff is available. There's little feedback unless you personally call and ask, so it's hard to know how your child is progressing until report cards are sent out. At times, important day-to-day situations involving our daughter weren't communicated to us. Lastly, we didn't always feel the school environment, particularly the front office, was the most welcoming. On a few occasions, I had to initiate conversations after being overlooked which left us feeling more like a number than part of a school community. Overall, the preschool experience was outstanding and gave our daughter a strong academic and social foundation. We're incredibly thankful for that time. Unfortunately, the transition into kindergarten didn't live up to the same standard. I hope this feedback helps other families make a choice that aligns with what they're looking for. read more

We love Challenger. Our son started preschool here as soon as he turned 3, and it's been nothing but fantastic. No woke agenda, and they really live up to their name, challenging the kids. He's about to go into kindergarten, and is writing, doing math, and reading at a second grade level. We also like that they integrate singing and music and art and performance into the curriculum, keeping it very well rounded. They also teach the kids about actual American history, and pledge allegiance to the flag and sing songs about america. Imagine that, a school that teaches kids to actually love their country! Kudos to challenger. It's schools like this that are why we left California. read more

My granddaughter studied here for 2 years. Kindergarten & 1st grade. I transferred her to another school due to higher grade will be higher tuition fee. Is it worth it? No! The teacher she had was always absent & has a charter school attitude. That's one of the reasons why I started looking for a better school. Also, it's so hot outside & they were doing PE. For the amount I'm paying they should have a gymnasium but no they are using it for dining. Academically yes they are advanced but then you'll end up either public school or Catholic school in high school. My granddaughter loves loves her new school & it's fun learning. Challenger's programs are great. Unfortunately at this location the director and other administration staff are dishonest and condicending. The admin staff refuse to take responsibility for omitting information, and prefer to blame us and other Employees. Fortunately there are other locations in the area that hopefully don't have these issues. In my specific circumstance we were fortunate enough to get a employee discount (free) for our kid to attend. We couldn't afford this school with out the discount. Our kid attended for about a month, and was set up to attend summer school. We were informed 4 days before the start of summer school that the family member the discount was through wasn't teaching summer school. So we lost our discount, and now need to pay. The family member is still a full time employee so this makes no sense. This was never even mentioned as a possibility. I questioned the director about why this was never brought up before now, they said it wasn't their responsibility to inform us... in fact, her even telling us at all was a "courtesy." She then blamed the family member for not telling us. When I requested a refund for the registration fee they previously assured us was refundable, they refused to refund it. Now we need to scramble to find childcare in 4 days. I wouldn't trust a school run by staff that can't take responsibility. My son started at Challenger school over a year ago when he was four. He went to Montessori Visions Academy prior to that. It's quite a change in his academic progress and his enthusiasm for school. He says Yayy every morning when I tell him what day it is, and that's school day. He started reading when he was four and a half. I don't have to ask him twice when it's reading time at home. Somehow Challenger got him to feel like he is having fun when he reads or works on the worksheets. He is able to explain to me errors he makes on his worksheets at school, and able to show me corrections. I am happy with his academic growth at this school. I like that the school entrance is locked at all time. You can't get to the front desk before you get approved to pass through the locked entrance There were couple times I had issues with admin. At first, I didn't know the school required uniform shirt and pants. I only ordered my son uniform shirts and went to buy him pants from a clothing store. One day he came home in someone else's pants with no note to explain why his pants were changed. When I called, that was when I was informed about the mandatory uniform. I was upset at how they made him change into different pants at school, and how they didn't have the courtesy to call me to work out the uniform issue. Another time was when I received a past due notice, and a warning of my son's school termination if the past due was not taken care of by so and so date. I was not made aware of the due. When I called the school to take care of the amount, I was told that it was from the one day that we picked him up late. Ms Brenda always calls me back in timely manner. For how happy my son is at this school, I can look past all the admin issues I have had. read more

A fantastic school! I really believe the teachers are of very high quality. They also really seem to care about the students. Teachers who are just helping with drop off know all of the students names. My first child was young compared to most of the other kids but they still had her reading in the first 6 weeks of pre k. They are strict but kind and serious but fun. The values allow your kids to have confidence but not entitlement. Best of all they teach our children to love their country and respect themselves and others. I looked at all of the schools and I didn't feel like any other was as well rounded. I contacted the school by phone and email this am. I just got a call from a woman I can't believe has job there. She is upset I went with a different school , even hung up on me. I'm shocked and glad I didn't take my sister there. She's very shy. Dealing with someone of this temper wouldn't have been a good fit. read more

We've had our daughter here for the last couple of years - two years of preschool and now she's in kindergarten. It's unbelievable how much she knows - she can read a second grade level, her writing and ability to do math is excellent, and I couldn't be happier with her progress. The reason why we chose challenger for preschool and kindergarten is because of the reading program in particular. By the time they finish kindergarten, she'll be able to read about 80% of the English language because they teach them the foundation and rules so effectively. I have learned very disturbing facts. In my 4 year olds class, they practice time out as a form of punishment for not following directions. My 4 year old did not use the color pink, instead used the color black to color her bunny. She was sent to timeout on what they call carpet time, and when she asked to pee Ms. Kayden said don't bother me. My child then held her pee then screamed out from agony emergency emergency which then she was allowed to use the restroom. After that she started crying and when Kayden asked her why the tears, my child said it was in response to her raising her voice. Kayden replied "are you kidding me!" My child was humiliated among her friends to be placed on the naughty carpet and observe the activity from a distance and when I spoke to Brenda she was passive aggressive, dismissive and said that the school is successful due to following all directions, and if I don't feel comfortable with their policy then I should just not send my child there. I was told even in art if a child does not follow correct color steps they then are sent to the carpet. My child was so disturbed by these emotions she couldn't sleep, she cried intensely and refused to go back to class as she said Kayden was mean to her and she felt alone and scared. Brenda told me the children have free will and they can use the bathroom anytime. As a 4 year old when placed on the naughty carpet, she did not know she had free will to exercise. Other alarming facts, they are learning about Christopher Columbus as a man who discovered America. I was also sent home a paper that read "I am fat" which the school said in response to my concerns that it is used for children to learn how to read. Apparently the meaning of sentences and the social culture of 2022 has no foundation in forming uplifting sentences for children as young as 4 to learn. I urge parents to speak to their children and find out what is really happening within these classes that are not made transparent to parents. The only reason I know what happened now is because my child is getting better at communicating and telling me what occurred. The school has been amazing for my child for the pass 3 years. right now we can't financially keep her in and was thinking of coming back once we get everything situated. But now that our daughter has been process out, they were so disrespectful towards us asking for documentation that is required for her other school. My husband ask is it possible for our child to say goodbye to her friends and collect her things? They said no we'll get it and leave. Her teachers were more understanding and respectful than the women in the office and spent all our hard earn money towards the school. I love this school! My oldest attended Green Valley Christian's preschool for a year and was never happy. She never wanted to go to school and learned a lot of bad behavior from the other students. They were also "teaching" stuff she already knew. Their curriculum was focused on very simple things, such as the numbers 1-10, the alphabet, and colors. We taught my daughter all of that by the age of two. We switched her to Challenger and she begs to go back to school! Their curriculum far exceeds that of GVC. All of the interactions I've had with the staff have been wonderful. I read the reviews stating the staff is rude, and I completely disagree. They greet me and my family with a smile, ask about our day, and are always kind. Brenda, who is in charge of the preschool program, was very helpful and warm. I've watched her interaction with students and it's obvious she cares very deeply about them. I wish I had my kids at this school from the start! I know the school is expensive, but you get what you pay for. read more

The Challenger curriculum post-Kindergarten is one size fits all; they do not account for different learning levels. The Challenger program is not well-rounded. There is no music class. There is no gym for PE. There is no art class. There is no program for social growth. There is no science lab. The computer class is programming only, real-world usage isn't taught. Challenger is purely academic. That's great if you think your kid will like a very formal setting with very limited social interaction, but let me tell you now - your child will not have much time to be a kid, at school or at home. Challenger lacks greatly in communication. If you have a question for the teacher you must call in and leave a message and wait to have your call returned within 24 hours. Challenger tells you that they have an open door policy, but the handful of times I have popped in to use the "open door," it was closed and I had to make an appointment. There is no online access, nor can you email the teacher or call her/him directly. You can email the elementary director, but it was my experience that it was sometimes hard to get a reply and I have documentation of sending a 2nd email to entice a response. Parents are discouraged from coming into the school and all but forced to use car line. All of the reasons above were not enough for me to consider leaving Challenger, the reason we left was because Challenger placed my daughter with an unqualified teacher, twice, and the aftermath of that choice. If your child isn't one to automatically absorb what is read aloud to them in class, you are truly on your own. Challenger's teachers are mostly uncertified and several of them lack teaching experience. (Side note: every parent pays the same tuition - you may get a teacher with a lot of experience and/or a master's degree, or you may get one with no experience, fresh out of college with a BA in non-education studies.)There is no study hall. There are no small groups for kids who need assistance in certain subjects. It is my experience that Challenger School's staff is not an ally in learning, and there is not an all-out effort to make sure your child is thriving. There is no bottomless trunk full of strategies to succeed - it is sink or swim. read more

After two weeks of sept the schools front Office lady a women with a English accent and a total rude bitch told via voice mail that if we didn't pay the tuition by tomorrow that our son in the 4th grade could not return to school Monday. I called and assured them the funds would be there Monday. Then we got another call saying that we must come to school at 9am to meet with the head master ! ( what if that time didn't work ) Then they called and left a message that "They were going ahead with ACH " Payments. After some careful consideration we thought It was totally wrong to act the way they did . Never asking if there was a an issue or concern. We went to Southern Highland prep School Paid more money and were treated better and guess what our child comes home happy everyday eager to go to school not like a Challenger were their motto is Fuck you pay me. I had 3 children enrolled in Challenger from preschool- 2nd grade. Hands down... This is the BEST education you can give your children. Challenger's expectations are very high and it was particularly difficult for my oldest child, but she learned at a very early age how to study and focus in class. Some parents have claimed that the teachers are "unloving" . I saw just the opposite. They are compassionate and give praise when it is earned. All of the teachers my children had gave 110% to make sure they were achieving their full potential. My children moved out of state, otherwise they would still be at Challenger. While it wasn't easy financial on us- it was worth every penny! Recently my children were in town visiting and we drove by the school. There was a collective "we miss challenger" from them. One little thing that I dislike, is buying the school uniforms. It's a hassle when you need to return or exchange. Would be nice if I can just purchase direct from the school. This is the place you are looking for if you are finding a safe place for your child to attend school for the first time! I say this because both of my kids attended here and we could not be any happier! Everyone is so nice and I really appreciate everyone's work ethic. You can really tell when someone loves their job and/or are there for just a job and they are all there for the right reasons. I can't say enough of Ms. Brenda, teachers Ms.Kanoe, Mr.Zack, Ms.Charlene, Mr.Troy, Ms.Jill (to name a few) and they are the ones we have had the pleasure of having as teachers; however they are all wonderful. I really like the instruction being taught here as well as the way that they teach and guide our little ones to their maximum potential. The academics being taught is stellar and it has worked great for my kids. My little ones enjoy coming here each day and as a mother, that makes all the difference in the World. I was initially impressed with the school, but after 2nd grade, the school completely falls apart. I honestly cannot recommend this school to anyone. My children could regurgitate information and they received "good grades" at challenger, but when I asked them questions, they lacked overall comprehension of the material. It is a completely robotic program. After transferring them to another private school, I had to hire a tutor to catch my children up to the level of the other children in their grade. Furthermore the administration is horrible. I don't think they even require advanced degrees from their teachers, which is completely ridiculous at a private school. Please do yourself a favor and do not bother with this school. read more

I love this school. My son is currently in one of the 3's preschool classes and he loves it. He's halfway through the school year and the progress he's made has been amazing. Every so often, his class gets to do special things- in September, they learned about the old west and got to dress up like cowboys. For Halloween, they got to wear their costumes and gave their first singing performance. For thanksgiving, each student was to bring some food (bananas, apples, etc.) and they had a big thanksgiving feast together. For Christmas, they did another song performance and got to meet Santa. Now in January, they're learning about other cultures and will get to dress up like people from other countries. They make learning fun, but they also produce incredible results. read more

While very happy with my grandson's achievements under the direction of terrific teachers, I am VERY disappointed with management. I use that word because they are not educators! The non-teaching staff are more concerned about the tuition (1K p/mo), than about the future of their young charges. My boys have been going to Challenger for the last 2 years. They are twins and have just completed the 4s preschool class. My husband and I just love what they have learned at Challenger. I toured so many preschools before I chose Challenger and I am so happy we settled on it. The other preschools seemed much more like a daycare center...or just so unorganized I couldn't see how the children were learning. I highly recommend Challenger School! I used to come here myself! The teachers are nice and help you individually. This location has like the best of the BBBEEEESSTTT preschool playground. It was upgraded not too long ago and has many parts such as a pretty big sandbox. And the best part is the snacks they serve your children in half and all day preschool. Juices, homemade root beer, crackers, cookies, bagels, you name it! Tuition is reasonable and you will know that once you sign your child up! My son has been attending this school since he was 3-years-old. I can't say enough positive things about the cirriculum. My son was reading at age 4-years-old, knew all of his sounds, simple Math, etc. I understand what some of these reviewers are talking about with the school looking like a prison, not allowed to be free-thinkers, etc. Frankly, I want my children to have a solid foundation on the basics, which is what Challenger provided and my child has accomplished. He will be going to another school for 1st grade, but let me say that my Kindergartner is reading, writing, and spelling at a third grade level. His math testing for Saxon is of a second grader. Where exactly will you find a foundation such as this for education? To me it's not about me and what I like, it's about my son learning and loving school, which is what he has done. I had complaints about one of his teachers, but she is long gone and since her departure my son has done nothing but thrive. His younger sister will attend Challenger for the foundation of academics. Challenger is not for everyone, but that doesn't make it a bad school, it just doesn't fit your child's learning style. read more

Absolutely the BEST pre-school, Elementary school ever! We started here in the early 2000's with a daughter we are bringing to college today and now have a first grader in the school. I do not recommend this school. Arriving at this school is like arriving at a prison. You would think after paying such a high tuition price one would at least be treated with respect and dignity. However, that is not the case here. They don't greet you, you greet them. You don't even get a return smile or hello or goodbye. My son has been here for a year now. It's not a one day's thing, it is everyday. The front office staff particularly, Linda is always demeaning with her responses and looks, her attitude express she is so much better then you. They are only there because their children are enrolled at Challenger and they receive a discounted tuition price. They are unapproachable and not there to help you. If Challenger teaches manners, how come they don't teach their front staff? Did they even receive an education at all? It seems like the front staff does not even have the bare basics down. How are they suppose to educate our kids? read more
