This has been the best thing I could have done for my kids. Moving from Hawaii to Vegas everything was pretty foreign and the transition was not easy. But it's been 1 whole school year and I'm so grateful to all The Teachers and Staff at Henderson International School! My two teenagers are A grade students and are really growing up to be mature and well grounded young adults. The smaller classes ensure they get the proper attention and the constant feedback from the teachers allows me to know what they are doing well in and not so well in. Administration doesn't have a clue what they are doing! They play favorites for people that don't even have a degree in education. They also let middle school boys whistle at teachers and don't do anything about it! Go to any other school than this dump! Lizethe, Carmen, and the others are not qualified to run the school! There is a severe lack of building social and emotional skill. After four years of the occasional issue with my son, behaviorally, come to find out he's had a dozen incidents. 8 of which we were never made aware of. He was pushed into the stall and placed in a headlock in the bathroom by another child, he was kicked in his "private" parts during early childcare, he was punched in his "privates" during lunch, he had a basketball thrown at his head at recess, and had his chair pulled out from under him when standing to ask a question in his class. He's not perfect! They never notified us of any of the above incidents. Does he have aggression issues. Yes. At time. Because of the environment they allow on this campus. They can call him a liar, or note he has aggression issues, but if your child is younger and struggles with emotional control this is not the place to be. I should have noticed it earlier. Between the teacher turn over rate-suspicious-, the lack of discipline, lack of timely notification when your child does something wrong, and lack of notifying parents of trauma to the head and "private parts," I would not recommend. They have no real counselors. If you're not from money, all other parents and students treat you like dirt. My son was called trash and poor. Kind of hard for a second grader to process. Keep your kids away. It's just a bunch of drama. read more

Absolute worst private school. Save your child the trauma, enroll in a reputable private school with solid leadership and teachers/students who aren't leaving in droves due to traumatic and dangerous experiences. They don't even have a nurse on campus! Not a safe place but they want you to think it is so they put on quite a show. Literally run from here. read more

HIS is an amazing place for our kids to learn and grow. It' offers a strong foundation for our kids to not only prepare them for high school and college, but also for the world. We transferred from another school out of state which made us nervous but the staff and admissions office made the transition very easy. They were friendly and helpful with all our questions. Our girl attended HIS for more than a year now, and we are so happy that she made so much progress. She had a hard time reading words as she transitioned from pre K to kindergarten, but HIS teacher reassured us that she will be just fine. She was 100% right! Thanks to aggressive reading curriculum, library and supportive teachers, she became so confident. We enrolled for another year and plan to also get her sister to attend following year ! Our daughter started last year there and since then we are so happy for the decision we made, she didn't speak English and it was amazing to see how fast she was improving not only in the language but academically speaking. The directors are incredibly supportive and involved, they're so easy to approach whenever is needed. Our daughter goes to school happy, since the moment she step out of the car she feels welcome by all the staff which are all amazing! At pick up we always wonder why she takes so long to come out and it's often because she loves to go back to her last teacher just to see her and say hi and goodbye. Such a wonderful school and staff. Our kids are doing amazing with reading and math. They love the science classes and also the incredible performing arts teacher. The Better Lunch program served at the school is nutritious and our kids love it. And the summer camp held on campus is not completely affiliated with the school but our kids love going there too. read more

Do not send your child here if you are worried about them potentially falling behind. sure, they will tell you during the tour that there are individual IEPs per each student and an teaching assistant to help children who fall behind but it's all bologna. They barred my 4 year old daughter (a previous preschool student there) admission into pre-k because she "can't sit still at a desk and complete worksheets for extended periods of time" and because she "doesn't consistently identify her ABCs upon sight" Save your time and find another school that genuinely cares about CURRENT student advancement. read more

Let's just cut through the Niche & Great Schools reviews which are mostly misleading & petty. Henderson Int'l is hands down the best and, yes, the priciest school in Henderson, NV...period. If you are near Summerlin, we ALL KNOW Meadows is the most elite school in all of LV, but Henderson Int'l rivals them on many counts. Why you ask? They customize your child's experience through individualization and differentiated education. This allows them to be challenged to their full potential in a close-knit & caring environment. Beyond that, they focus on a child's overall development, not just academics. The on-campus resources and facilities are impressive for a K-8. Security is top-notch with security personnel actively patrolling the facility at the entrance and at discrete observation posts in anticipation of any suspicious activities. Expect a classroom size of 15 with a rare max of 20. Academics are a true year ahead depending on your kid's placement. This school is a feeder to Bishop Gorman HS & Coronado HS. Great options for either private or public. If you have a committed kid, do not let CCSD K-8 ruin them before HS due to overcrowding, limited resources, a bounty of negative influences, and poor district leadership. Other private school options in the area are available, but none can compare. read more

My wife and I have been residents of Henderson for eight years and spent an unequivocal time in search of the right school for our descendants. What a blessing Henderson International has been. We are enrolled in Ms. z and Ms. l's class and could not be happier for what they have done for our daughter. The teachers are loving and we have seen such a development in our daughter who is somewhat shy. Every morning when I drop my daughter off, I see her just thrilled to go to class, security is top notch, campus is well organized, parents are highly involved and ms z and ms l are amazing! Great team! My daughter is now leaps and bounds over other students who are not enrolled in school. We sought refuge at HIS in November after being, shall we say, neglected at Challenger. What a welcome change and a true blessing HIS is. #1 benefit is the "personalized learning plan" per child where the teacher works with the parents to identify areas of improvement for each individual child, because each subject is not one size fits all. I love the "specials" that my daughter never had before like music, art, science lab, Spanish and PE. I also like that there is study hall after school available, and clubs. HIS is very well rounded and I applaud their commitment to developing my child's social skills in addition to academics. One additional perk I am really enjoying, as a mom, is the level of parent involvement allowed and having a PTA. Since we've joined HIS, everyone has been so eager to help us fit in. Nice facility, my daughter plays in a soccer league here. They have soccer field, baseball fields , field, Gym and outdoor pool that I am aware of. Fields are artificial turf, really good but do get very hot. read more

Cost is outrageous, 19k really!! My kids had to be tutored after they went there. I heard the school is up for sale. The teachers are in my opinion not qualified. My kids struggled in math and then the math teacher offered to tutor them for $30.00 an hour on top of tuition. Don't go there!!! They did not renew the best teacher's contracts. Hmmmm!! read more
