He started reading when he was four and a half. I don't have to ask him twice when it's reading time at home. Somehow Challenger got him to feel like he is having fun when he reads or works on the worksheets. He is able to explain to me errors he makes on his worksheets at school, and able to show me corrections. I am happy with his academic growth at this school. I like that the school entrance is locked at all time. You can't get to the front desk before you get approved to pass through the locked entrance There were couple times I had issues with admin. At first, I didn't know the school required uniform shirt and pants. I only ordered my son uniform shirts and went to buy him pants from a clothing store. One day he came home in someone else's pants with no note to explain why his pants were changed. When I called, that was when I was informed about the mandatory uniform. I was upset at how they made him change into different pants at school, and how they didn't have the courtesy to call me to work out the uniform issue. Another time was when I received a past due notice, and a warning of my son's school termination if the past due was not taken care of by so and so date. I was not made aware of the due. When I called the school to take care of the amount, I was told that it was from the one day that we picked him up late. Ms Brenda always calls me back in timely manner. For how happy my son is at this school, I can look past all the admin issues I have had.

When my daughter was struggling, there was an entire team ready and available to create an academic support plan to meet her where she needed to be met. It worked! Thanks to the schools diligence, communication, and teamwork, she was able to show immense improvement in very little time. Ms. Dana, Ms. Rosie, Ms. Adrian, and Ms. Marion ... I mean I could just go on about the community here, parents included! We feel so safe dropping her off in the hands of such incredible people. Highly recommend!

The staff and administrators are very accommodating and personable with students and parents. They knew our names within the first two months which is impressive for a new school having over 600 kids. They also allowed our twin boys to be in the same class and excused us for a week long tour of Canada (with prior notice). We are exceptionally impressed with their first grade teacher, Ms. Czarnecki. Our boys enjoy her class with the wagon wheel reading area and elaborate seasonal decorations while we (the parents) appreciate her weekly communications. She works tirelessly to provide a fun and challenging curriculum for all children. They are able to progress at their own pace through ST Math, study island and power readers (AR reader/renaissance home connect). Occasionally they work with their classmates on special group projects like the space one.

It's not a religious school, for some weird reason some classes get recorded when they're doing the pledge (again, I don't know why or surpiringsly how.) And every day they have teacher awards. The MPR is really big, I think it's about 10-11 inches and normal MPRs I think are like 8-9 inches, final thing they have 2 playgrounds one is really small (Recess Playground) and a huge playground that reaches 20 inches (I think, that we play at Lunch Recess) There are a few good teachers, but I didn't like Ms. Gardner a first grade teacher if she still works here, she was a teenager but now I suspect she is a young adult but so yeah, it's a great school!

Car loop sucks for special ed parents considering their kids gate is 0..the last one which i had to tell them every time because they would forget or not notice when i write it on our car loop tag. Special education teacher is full of excuses and can't handle special ed kids period. I don't think they've had children with severe autism and it shows. Now she is getting what she needs from CCSD and is improving already

The focus they put on leadership and self-governing is something I wish I had learned growing up. My brother struggled in regular school to the point we weren't sure if he could keep up here. However within the school year he was actually excelling, not because the school is easy, but because he had a true support system. His teacher would work one on one with him and gave him extra assignments that would help him get the concepts in a way he could understand and practice. It was a lot of work for my brother, but to finally be on A honor roll was priceless! I knew I wouldn't want my daughter to go anywhere else after seeing my brothers transformation. They focus on true principles and helping the students learn for themselves and enjoy the process. We love this school and feel so lucky to have found them! We also love the new campus!

It is amazing to see how far this school has come. I feel that the skills I learned from attending this school from 2nd grade through middle school have carried with me until this day. My reading and writing skills are strong and this school truly prepared me for college. As an adult now, I read quite often for fun. This academy truly focuses on a classical education, which is not a focus in public schools today. Scholars learn cursive and multiplication/division starting in second grade. These skills stay with them for the remainder of their schooling. This academy does a nice job focusing on building the skills they've learned brick by brick each school year. Administration leaves classroom issues to the teachers at Coral and if they do address a situation they do not attempt to notify the student victim or their parent to "protect the other family's privacy." The teachers that we had at both schools were GREAT (6th grade teachers at Coral and 7th grade teachers at Pinecrest.) No complaints there. Administration is more communicative and helpful at Pinecrest.
