Service provided by a lady named Sabrina was excellent. Apparently she is new here. Breads and pastries were delicious and with very high quality. Coffee was great too. John Baker and Sabrina made my day. Thank you!

This bakery did not disappoint! Located by the Stadelhofen station, this place was pretty packed during the morning commute hours. I stopped by for a croissant; it was buttery and flaky! Staff was very friendly and spoke good English. I would definitely return to try out other pastries and bread. They have coffee as well.

JB has the look down pat. It's airy, open and inviting with natural wood counters displaying gorgeous-looking bread. In addition to edibles, John Baker sells nifty beverages. On offer are freshly pressed/squeezed juices packaged in lidded jars with arty-looking labels, 'natural' ZH-made soda and organic teas from Germany and, for the mainstream soda drinker, Coke. Behind the counter stands a fancy-looking espresso machine that makes a decent cafe creme. Lactose-intolerant folks have the choice of almond or rice milk, I believe, for their bevvies. The (organic) bread selection covers the basics and then some. The selection includes tasty baguettes, Zöpfe--both vegan and butter varieties--Dinkel loaves, Vollkornbrot and (green) olive bread. JB also produces chocolate rolls that remind me of the 'chocolate thing' of Berkeley's Cheeseboard fame, raisin rolls and gipfeli. For the lunch crowd there are pizza slices, sandwiches on both on crusty bread and pretzels and to-go portions of fennel salad. JB also sells pretzels, both wee and standard size and muesli in to-go containers. Apropos 'to-go' there's a bit of a 'steh-cafe' space near one of the entrances, and, usually, a few chairs set up outside, but, in the main, JB is a buy-and-go sort of place. This place is worth a stop-in simply because there's nothing else quite like John Baker in Zurich. Let the smell of fresh bread wash over you! Psst! 'John Baker' is actually a collection of business-savvy Swiss.

This place was close to one of the train stations that dropped my friend and I off in Zurich city. We had some bread here in the morning, and it was actually quite delicious! The bread was fluffy and soft on the inside with a nice harder outside, and it actually had a decent amount of flavor! I wish it was easier to find super high quality bread like this in the states, cause the bread here is on another level.

My favorite bakery in Zurich. The staff are friendly and the bread is great with the good smell of wheat. Fig bread is a must try and always sold out in the afternoon.

    I had the salami sandwich.

The Sandwiches and hot chocolate were pretty pricy, and they were average too. The environment/setup is quite good though. Quiet and peaceful. Can go do work there over coffee. I'll probably go for a pastry next time.

John Baker is my favorite place for anything bread-related: Nussbrot is amazing, and olive bread just tastes so good.
