The couple that run the store are about as authentically genuine as can be. They will never over charge u if u don't need something. Quick to tell u a recipe if u need it. Never talk trash about the other guys. Just nice ppl. I cook for 1 or 2 usually and always need a handful of curry leaves. These guys have yet to charge me. Whereas the other guys will gladly take my $2. Icing on the cake. A few months ago there was a power outage and the credit card machine was down. And the lights were out as well. These guys still kept the store open and assisted the elderly shoppers around. (I've also seen them do the shopping for the elderly as well.). Anyways, because I didn't have any cash on me and credit machine was down, they told me not to worry about it and just pay them later. It was like $10 worth of stuff, but they didn't even write it down or anything. Just straight up honesty policy. I mean who else still does this for people? Good humans. That's who. Skip the lines of the mega store and hook these "brothers" up. And yes, I paid them the next time I went in.

I have also bought things from the bakery that have been marked down and they have been very stale even though the sell by date was one to two days into the future. So a couple days ago I buy this pork prepackaged and not entirely inexpensive and I go to cook it today. It's been in the refrigerator and the sale by date is tomorrow, but it looks so discolored and old. I'm not even going to try to open it and smell it. I'm taking it back tomorrow and I'm really sick and tired of taking things back to the grocery stores that are rotten. It is a drive to any of them and i may or may not have enough time to drive back, find a place to park, and go in and take care of business. I have ended up just throwing things out like little bakery items that were a couple bucks or a sandwich that was three or four instead of eight or six dollars. I think my days of shopping at Mariano's are over. Definitely stay away from markdowns, Also Their prices on most things are not cheap but I will say usually their full price fresh veggies and fruit are good and fresh. Hard to go from place to place for this and that though.

So I love Amish products, they seem so legit and "farmers market" without the hipster markup, amirite? So this new place was initially very intriguing and unusual... I think this storefront used to be a pre-prepped meal kit place, like the home delivery stuff being sold now over socials... Anyway, the store seems more like a eastern euro (Polish?) Business reselling Amish items. Prices seem well below retail on the few items they carry but produce and such fresh items are only passable and look to have seen better days. Dairy, bread and canned goods are interesting. Due to lack of preservatives the daily baked bread seems to go stale by end of day, so I got the inexpensive French mini loaf tossed in for free. Was planning on Air fryer toasting that into crostini anyway... so score. The drop in a star was due to the iffy customer service. Older lady needs to down some sugar and not shoot dour looks at me, not the best impression on a new customer..., the other lady seemed friendlier but should probably chill on long convos in Polish while a customer is standing at the register to checkout. Might be back, next time I'm in the strip mall for curiosity... but Woodman's has Amish items too.
